Thread: My 3rd Novel

I have had 2 original ideas for my first 2 novels but fancy regurgetating an old story for my 3rd.

I want to take Romeo and Juliet and put it in a modern day inner city enviornment.

Between rival racial gang members. Where the young brother of one white gang leader, falls for the younger sister of the arch rival asian gang leader. She is due for an arranged marriage back in Pakistan until she meets 'romeo' at an evening class after school not knowing who he is.

Both are romantic intellectuals who couldnt give a sh*t about the whole race/gang thing........

Anyone think this is a plot worth writing?

well i'm no expert of course but i kinda like the idea but what about reversing the roles? i only say this cos there have been quite a few books/films about asian girls being forced into arranged marriages-could just be different to do it from the males point of view. It could just put a different slant on it ?

Yeh crazy brit just say it without the sarcasm. There are plenty of ways to tell someone its not a good idea. But taking the piss is low. I had 25 rejection letters before the first book was accepted for publication. If I was bothered about being put down I wouldn't have continued after the first one.

There are just nicer ways to say things.
