Heartbeat

It was the 17th October, I was 12 weeks pregnant and had just come back from my first scan, I had just walked into my work to show everyone my first scan picture. It was magical. I was first greeted my PA Emily, she was so excited for me bless her, she ran up to me and gave me a hug before taking the scan picture of my hand.

"I can't wait til I'm bringing one of these into work" she said

"you won't have to wait long, you have just got married, give it time" I said giving her a wink

I waled into my office and put my first picture of my baby in a photo frame on my desk and smiled to myself.

Everyone kept coming in to see the photo and offers their congratulations, I was happy.

That night mine and my husbands family came round for and of course to see the scan picture, it was a fab night. I was so tired by the end of it thought I jumped straight into bed.

The next day I woke up with horrible back pain, I just put it down to being pregnant and carried on with my day, it seemed to ease off my lunch time so I didn't worry about it too but for the next couple of weeks it kept coming and going. My husband finally convinced me to go to the doctors but like I thought they said it was pregnancy symptoms so I just put up with them.

At our 20 week scan, the midwife asked us if we wanted to know the sex of our baby and of course I did. Me and Jamie smiled at each other and she looked.

She smiled back and told us "you are having a little girl"

I was so happy, I mean I would have been happy with a boy or girl as long as they were healthy which is when I stopped smiling as she pointed out that there may be something and I would have to have test.

I had just found out that I was having a little girl, I should have been happy and be out shopping buy pink dresses but instead I was in a hospital on a drip waiting to find out if there was anything wrong with her.

After 6 hours hooked up to a drip, the doctor came round to see us. He asked us some family history question and I became more scared as one of them was "do you have any people in your family a heart condition?" I looked at Jamie and he held my hand.

I started to cry and just about manged to reply "yes, my younger brother died from a heat condition last year"

"I think your daughter may have a problem with her heart, the heart beat from the scan you had emailer today was irregular so we are gonna have to keep you in for more tests as we can't really say sure until your baby is here.

Its not any good but just wanted to get it out and typing is easier than writing lol

You say that its not any good, but I totally disagree, that was extremely heartfelt and moving. I hope that the situation has improved since you wrote this post!
