NEVER TO LATE
(By a 71 year old friend of mine who recently appeared on Richard and Judy)
It’s Wednesday morning and we’re here in force
Indomitable Geriatric Circuit Course
Hugh tries to lick us into shape
No problem chum, a piece of cake…
The highlight of the week for some
Who strive to tone up thighs and bum
Reach up, now down, now on your back
And no, you wont have a heart attack
Come ON, he barks, did I say Stop?
I’ll say that when you’re fit to drop
Our trainer that we love to hate
Yes Hugh, that’s you – just watch it mate!
Ages and size don’t matter here
We’re really keen to persevere
We like to think were pretty nifty
Since all of us are over fifty
Hugh, for you, we aim to please
Despite old bones and aching knees
We bend and stretch with all our might
Can you feel it guys? Too bloody right!
Get on with it, give it some welly
If you want to lose that baggy belly
We love our class we all delare
Miss it? What? We wouldn’t dare
Stop for a drink if you feel your flagging
Shoulders back, we don’t do sagging
We haven’t time to stand and stare
No slacking now, we don’t go there
Do it wrong and hell make you suffer?
Press-ups you, you silly old duffer
Use it or lose it, it’s all very well
We’ve got no choice with the Trainer from hell
We strut our stuff, there’s nothing to it
And we can do it when we We and Hugh it!
Brave or barking? We’re not quire sure
But every week were back for more
One things for sure – we love you Hugh
But just one thing we’ll say to you
God willing and if we all survive
We’ll check YOU out when YOU’RE fifty five!
