There another one which is based on the same idea as Curves....called Ladies Express Workout. I joined about 3 years ago went for 3 months and stopped.....bored, hated it etc. HOWEVER when I went on LT...I rejoined just to tone up......and it made such a difference in terms of inch loss and tone overall......cant wait to get back after I this baby......I realised that you cant loose l lb of fat with exercise unless you are burning over 3000 cals.....but the benefits of feeling fit and looking toned are great and also lead to reduced appetite and more energy.............I would highly recommend it!!
    Starting weight : 1st Jan 14st 7lbs
    9th Jan 14st 0llbs
    18th Jan 13st 10llbs

    Goal weight : 10st 7lbs

First goal : Get to 13st 7lbs by 31st Jan
Second goal: Get to 12st 7lbs by end Feb
Third goal: Get to 12st Olbs by 17th March
Fourth goal: Get to 11st by 10th May (off of two weeks hols and expect to gain a bit then)
Fifth goal : Get to goal by my Birthday - July 15th

There is also another one out there called LFW (ladies fitness and wellness) works on the same principle as curves, quite a few of these around the country if no curves near by maybe worth looking for one of these.I am into my second wk of going,as someone else said weightloss seems to have slowed but in only about 10 days I can now get into a size 16 skirt which would not even meet 2 wks ago and have only lost 1lb in that time. But fat loss does not always show on the scales. Can't wait for my 30 day weigh and measure to see results.

Hey, How's everyone here doing? I joined Curves a few weeks ago and have my first weigh and measure this week.

I'm hopeful but also feeling apprehensive. How much did you guys lose in the first month at your various gyms?

Bad Service / Ripped off ... Curves Fareham, Hampshire !

Ripped off : FAREHAM CURVES, HAMPSHIRE, UK

Hello having read your review i thought i would check out Curves for myself

I joined your new Curves gym in Fareham, Hampshire, UK on 28 July 2008 this was my introduction where they told me what was involved etc and took my joining fee and first month membership money, paid in cash

i had to postpone my first session which was booked for later that week and scheduled my first session at the next available slot on thursday 7th august.

when i turned up i was shocked to see they had put a notice up on the wall advertising their limited opening times on the wall 9.30am-1.30pm 4.30pm - 6.30 pm monday to friday

NO TIMES WERE MENTIONED TO ME OR WERE VISIBLE WHEN I SIGNED UP

    I work 9 - 6/6.30pm monday to thursdays

I was shocked and questioned these times and informed both the staff and the owner Yvonne Kelly, who informed me that maybe in time the hours may change but thats the the times they are open ... i informed them that this would be extremely difficult for me to then come and i may have to cancel and nothing was mentioned regarding times when i signed up

the next time i went, friday 8th august, i queried again and was informed the same.

Today i went into cancel my membership and ask for my joining fee and monthly membership fee to be returned total of £68.00 I offered to pay for the two sessions that i had attended and explained that their opening hours were not suitable and i was not informed of these hours when signing up. They are adamant that the hours were up on the wall when i signed up. I strongly disagree, i promise you they were not, as i would not have signed up and paid the money because i cannot go to the gym within these hours because of my work.

There was no compromise at all when i visited and spoke with the owner today, she was rude and condescending something i had not experienced before when speaking to any of the curves gyms.

I am now £68 down and feel that i have been mis informed and mis sold to the point that they have my money and they now advertise their opening hours where as they did not before or inform me. Why would i sign up for something and pay money to something i would not physically be able to attend?!

I am trying to find a way of resolving this and recouping some of my money they have taken from me. As i have said before i was happy to contribute to the 2 sessions that i was able to make before they advertised their limited opening hours.

I dont want to have to waste more of my time and getting more stressed by taking this further in order to get my money back but i will if their head office in the states cannot help me resolve this and also to stop others being "ripped off" and treated with no respect by this lady

I just joined yesterday and was measured and weighed.

My home digital scales say I'm 11st 3lbs and Curves told me I'm 11st 7lbs!

Came out the place feeling even more depressed

All scales are different, just because the Curves scales say a different number than your home scales I wouldn't get down about it. Just ensure that each time you get your weight and measurements done that the numbers go down! The actual numbers on the scales are just numbers, don't let it upset you.

Karren: It's a difficult one, maybe call your local trading standards and see what they say.
    Starting Weight = 17st 0lb

    Lost 8.5lb on Weight Watchers

I work full time and the hours are not very suitable, I could maybe get there for 6.30 but it would be a rush! I think they should open later in the evening, they must be losing custom with those hours!

Ive worked at curves for over 2 years and its the best place ever. All the members are gr8 and work really hard in achieving their goals. Due to the type of workout, its the inch loss that is focused on more than weight loss (altho weight is registered every month in order to get body fat reading). Plus many members are dieting too so wish to know their weight loss each month.

Our youngest member is 14 and the oldest in her late 80's. Its a 30 minute workout using hydraulic equipment, and providing on how hard you work, its equivalent of doing hour and half somewhere else. We have the new Curves smart which works members even harder and gives them a report after each workout ie which muscles they have worked hard on, if they have achieved their personal goal, where they could have worked harder, how many calories they have burned etc. Its possible to burn up to 600 calories !!!

Everyone is there for a different reason, and the staff at curves help them achieve and attain their goals. I love every single one of my members, and everything about curves. I myself have lost inches whilst working there, so know it works. I was a size 14/16 when i started and now fit into a comfortable size 10 - just by doing my 3 half hour workouts per week.

And because there is no men, no mirrors, no makeup - its a comfortable place to be, no matter what size. Its great to be at curves

    xx

i joined curves 5 years ago and left after a yr and changed to ladies workout express. within a month of changing i noticed a major difference, i wasn't getting bored like i was at curves, they had more machines, more choice, even treadmills.

the plaace was a lot friendlier, but that will vary from place to place anyway.

in the 3 months i was with ladies work out express i lost 2 stone and went from a 16 to a 12. in the year with curves i gained a stone and went from a 14 to a 16

guess it just wasn't for me
Sam- I am a weapon of mass confusion.

try to lose baby weight and a lot more.......
