Ok here goes, my journey

After being chubby as a child & then into adulthood, weight has always been an issue for me & I have never found that elusive "eating plan" that has worked long term for me. I've tried WW, SW & more recently Diet Chef & they all work but it's not teaching me to eat properly there are ways of using points on alcohol or chocolate so I end up going without proper food.

A couple of months ago I went to see my Dr for some advice on what i could do, her first words were " you're not fat enough for a gastric band" I hadn't even thought of asking for one ! she offered me Xenical & after reading up on it I decided it wasn't for me so gave Diet Chef a try & it works but I'm again finding myself skipping proper food in favour of the wrong kind.

I saw Dr Dukan on Daybreak & ordered the book to read whilst on holiday, reda the book within 2 days & as there was free WIFI at the hotel I read some of the diaries on here. Some are truely inspirational & it has prompted me to start my journey TODAY !

I have signed up fro the coaching, only because there was a deal on one of the deal sites & this is day 1 of 6 of attack.

B 3 beef slices 2 x cups of tea
L chicken breast
D 2 x chicken breast, 2 egg omlette & 3 slices of beef
S FF yoghurt & oat bran

2 litres of water but no walking today.

I have a back injury so mobility can be an issue, did walk round the supermarket though stocking up on items but couldn't find any quark.

Can't wait to try out some of the recipes, back to work tomorrow after my holiday so hoping as I'm only in 2 days this week I'll cope. Will try & get more organised over the weekend.

On a plus note, after losing a stone with DC & spending a week all inclusive i only gained 3lb eating & drinking everything insight !

good luck with dukan and i look forward to reading more of your diary x

Hey welcome to the board jojo

I noticed you mentioned Quark, I find mine in Asda with the mozarella, mascarpone cheeses (normally end of aisle :)) so hope this'll help you.

best of luck and looking forward to reading your updates!

xx

Hi JoJo, best of luck on your Dukan journey - i think it's not so much the destination (although thats jolly important!) as the things you learn on the way...

You may find the back issue improves with less weight to heave around - I have back probs too, but have found myself so much fitter now: I cycle into work, and swim a lot as I find those activities are the least stressful on my back. Also do yoga to keep stretchy (not often enough , no danger of me being mrs bendy... Lol!)

Good luck!

Welcome Jo and the very best of luck to you. Looking forward to reading about your Dukan success!

Day 2 of attack & so far so good

B porridge with oatbran 2 cups of tea & paracetamol - headache started
L cottage cheese & chicken breast
D 2 pieces of cod loin
S 2 x bolied eggs & yoghurt with vanilla essence

a litre of water down already & onto my second, planning no exercise today. It's snowing !!!!

Thanks everyone for taking time to comment on my diary so far, all the diaries I've read so far everyone seems so supportive of one another which is fab !!!
Back to work today & it's horrible although someone has asked if I've lost weight, which i have but no since they last saw me :)

Alottolose, thanks for the tip about quark. i did actually ask someone in ASDA who promptly sent me to the meat section !!!! I'll have another look when I next go in.

Supertonic, I doubt i'll ever be able to cycle to work let alone do yoga. I've had 3 operations & that has beenthe main cause of me gaining the extra weight. I used to be quite fit & toned so carrying the extra bit of weight didn't bother me as I was always told I looked healthy & I thought I looked ok in clothes. I know I need to lose the weight though to aid with my back problem, it can't be doing me any good carrying the bulk & it should hopefully reduce the medication I take for it.

Had a rubbish nights sleep though, up & down all night to the loo even though I'd had my water quite earlish. Plus the cats ( i have 3) decided they wanted to play games & were sitting on my head purring inbetween me going to the loo !

I'm going to have a go at making the mince flan tonight so I've got something for work tomorrow, I think if anything planning my lunches for work is going to be my biggest hurdle.

Anyway enough rambling for now, hope you are all having a great day !

Ramble away Jo, love it - you may get a bad headache or similar to flu like symptoms its the 'dukan flu' withdrawal from carbs - I felt really rough 2nd and 3rd day of attack (did 4 days) its all part of the dukan process ........... transition was also a problem for me too but once in cruise you will be fine. Any problems, questions - post away Jo x

Thanks Chris :D

Found out this evening that my neighbour started Dukan on Monday so i now have a Dukan buddy. She was supposed to only be on attack for 3 days (today being her last day) but because I've another 4 to go she's going to do a couple extra to support me, how nice is that !

She made a chicken curry today with ff yoghurt & spices, I had a little taste & it wasn't bad at all. I made the meatloaf but it was missing something, I think I need more seasoning/spices. My D buddy has lost 4lbs so far which is fab.

Still have a headache but it's not as bad as it was earlier, I also went really tired this afternoon & needed a lie down when i got in from work. Feel better now though.

Hmmmmm transition issues I've suffered with for a long while anyway, i take strong painkillers which don't help. I just hope it isn't painful when i do eventually go !

Night night all, hope you all have a great day tomorrow x

Scales show a 4lb loss this morning :D Offical weigh ins are Fridays

Feeling ill this afternoon, massive headache, nausea & ever so tired. Can't wait to finish for the long weekend

B 4 slices of beef, 2 cups of tea & paracetamol
L meatloaf, 1 cup of tea & paracetamol
D Cod loin I think if I can face it
S FF yoghurt & oatbran again if I can face it

2 litres of water done already & no exercise again

I'm guessing I've hit my wall today, saw my neighbour this morning & she is as bright as a button 4 days in so I'm hoping that's me tomorrow

that will be the dukan flu hitting.... keep drinking for the headaches and when you come out the other side you will feel amazing & buzzing :D

Hi jojo good luck on your journey the headaches and 'flu' will soon go just plan ahead and make sure you always have plenty of protien to snack on. I take my lunch to work love pv days as I make a large salad love it x

Day 4 of attack

Slept for England yesterday, I felt so rough yesterday afternoon I left work early & went to bed & slept for 3 hours. Had a pounding head all day & couldn't shift it no matter what I did. Feel better today though, still have a slight headache but i'm hoping I've seen the worst of it all now.

Been over to see my D buddy this morning & she is on top of the world as she starts cruise today.

I had my weekly weigh in this morning, even though it's not a full week I'm down 5lbs since starting dukan on Tuesday, considering i was dieting before & had already lost a stone i think that's pretty fabulous. First goal is to see 14 something in front of my weight, haven't seen that for a few years !

B 4 slices of beef although it was shared with the cats so more likely 3 & 2 cups of tea
L Turkey rashers & a poached egg
D Prawns & maybe a piece of fillet steak
S i'm hoping muffins

2 litres of water down already, have been pottering in the garden so that's a bit of exercise. Can feel it in my back already ! going to have a trip to Asda & have a go at the muffins this afternoon, will let you know how it goes.

Hope you are all having a great Good friday x

make sure you use a silicone muffin tray or cases for the muffins or you will be picking them out the paper cases for hours lol

5LBS - WOW - next few days you will feel so much better ............. good luck with the muffins, Mine are now perfected and I can make them with my eyes shut, I have them every day. I have quite a lot of dukan flavours especially the nutty ones coconut, hazelnut & nougat wish they did a peanut one. Fingers X they turn out good Jo x

It's your reciepe I followed Chris so here's hoping. I used FF vanilla yoghurt & put a bit of coffee in so fingers crossed ! They are just cooling down & I can't wait to try them. I did use silicon muffin tray so no picking the paper cases

I do actually feel great this afternoon, headache has gone & I have loads of energy. I braved Asda to get some supplies & it was a nightmare, absolutley rammed. It's shut for one day !!!!! Peoples trollies looked like there was going to be a war & we weren't going to be able to get food for months !

OH who I call TDM (train driver man) is grumpy, he was on at 3.14am today & is tired. All he wants to do is watch golf & fester on the sofa. Looks like I'm going to be lonesome this weekend as the Masters is on & he is golf crazy. I'll have to look for some receipes to try out, I very rarely cook so I don't know what Dukan is doing to me :D

Ive just got back from our small village store and its the same there - no bread or skimmed milk left and they've put 0% greek yoghurt up to £2.55 - ridiculous.

Jo check the recipe thread out loads of ideas on there if not give us all a shout sure someone can help ............ glad your having a good dukan time ............. wish my grumpy OH liked golf might put a smile on his miserable face :(

p.s. dont blame me if your muffins dont turn out won't be my fault honestly LOL - ive had mocha today too :)

God my miserable OH couldn't raise a smile today, I was giggling at funny cards in the card shop while he looked at his watch miserable so and so ;-) lol
