Dukan or don't can't - 8 week race to wedding!!!

So I have been doing Dukan since Boxing Day in a desperate attempt to shed the pounds before the big day on 22 February 2014! I would love to get at least a stone off in 8 weeks - could be an impossibility...but my dress was ordered a size smaller - seemed very achievable back in May.

Mini diary so far:

26 December - Attack!

Skipped breakfast at the inlaws - they only had toast and no eggs
Lunch - proscuitto ham with all the fat cut off and steak at Carluccio's
Snacks: packet of cooked chicken breast M&S (but notice it is cooked in sugar!), honey smoked salmon (grr honey)
Costa coffee: Americano
Dinner: another packet of cooked chicken breast M&S (again with the stupid sugar!) and two boiled eggs.
Exercise: Hiking round Cambridge for hours in the sales.

27 December - Attack!

Breakfast: Oatbran porridge
Egg white omelette and lean ham
Exercise: I stupidly went to my personal trainer this morning - too intense! felt crappy for the rest of the day. DO NOT DO MASSIVELY INTENSE EXERCISE IN ATTACK...WORST FEELING EVER!
Lots of water
Lemonade
Tea
Lunch: Plaice and prawns
Dinner: Tuna steak and plaice
Extra dinner: Sirloin steak strips and mustard, total yoghurt with sweetener

28 December - Attack! Book recommends a 3 day attack - I was gonna go for 5 but going insane already!

Breakfast: Oatbran porridge
Long train journey: Cooked chicken pieces that I did in fry light and spices, cottage cheese, total yoghurt with sweetener
Dinner: Salmon and sirloin steak strips with mustard, total yoghurt with sweetener

29 December - Cruise - oh yeah! Veggies

Mad how much you miss veggies innit?
Breakfast: Oatbran porridge
Breakfast: Spinach and two poached eggies
Lunch: Seafood platter at a restaurant in St Ives - was covered in olive oil though, peppers and silverskin onions :(, diet coke
Snacks: Whole pack of cherry tomatoes and a large 450g Rachel's organic low fat yoghurt with raspberry (naughty but I was desperate!)
Dinner: cod stew (had a bit of olive oil in it...tomato puree, garlic onion, fish stock and cod
Drinks: Raspberry tea and water
Exercise: 20 minute walk around St Ives

30 December - Cruise - doing another PV day as still in Cornwall with friends
Breakfast: Oatbran porridge
Lunch: Poached egg, smoked salmon in bloody honey, cottage cheese
Snacks on train: Two chicken breasts and a packet of brussel sprouts. Love sprouts!
Dinner: bolognese sauce (no lean mince in Waitrose - so fiance had to drain the fat from the meat - gross!), onions, tomatoes, mange tout, cherry tomatoes.

Congrats on your forthcoming wedding - how exciting! I know it's cliche, but the final weeks will fly by.

I'm sure you can lose a stone in that time, just stay focused!

Thanks MiniBean! I feel a bit discouraged that the weight is not 'flying off' as with some people but hey ho...

Diary 31/12/2013 (PP day)

Breakfast: Oatbran porridge with s/skimmed milk
Boiled egg

Lunch: Venison steak, three seafood sticks
Total 0% yogurt with cinammon
Small joint of beef cut into strips with french mustard

Dinner: BBQ chicken (homemade bbq sauce using the diet coke recipe found on here)
Egg custard dessert: sweetener, four egg yolks, cornflour, cocoa powder (think I used too much corn flour - felt a bit weird after this meal and cornflour is only a tolerated item, only 1tbsp a day, I later found out).

Drinks: sparkling water, diet coke, still water, tea.

1/1/14

Breakfast: 2tbsp Oatbran, semi skimmed milk
2 eggs done in fry light (fried), 2 slices ham with fat removed, sugar and salt reduced ketchup, 2 tbsp lf cottage cheese

Hi Netto, ham holds loads of salt and it could hold your weight loss up. Also try not to have any tolerated and see if that helps

How's it going NettoGhetto? How are you finding cruise? :)

Enjoying reading your diary... As said above, keep away from all tolerated ingredients if you can, particularly if you're in a particular rush to lose weight. (And make sure your milk is SKIMMED and not semi skimmed!)

It'll be great counting down to your wedding... :d)

Just discovered Dukan diet and started today. Tried everything else. 13stone desperate to lose 4 stone to get back to what I was 4 years ago, for good health and because I'm 51 and already had a heart attack. Posting this as a positive affirmation that I'm going to do it . So with you all as my witnesses who know what it's like, any positive words would be greatly appreciated

Mad start your self a diary, post your menus and we will all help you back to where you were 4 years ago xxx and help that heart of yours on the way xxx

Thanks sididd, working on my menus now as I'm not much of a cooking fan and diary has been started. Starting with 10 minutes on exercise bike and 10 minutes on vibration platform a day. Aim to increase by 10 min per week on each piece of equipment for a start. I do night shift as well which plays havoc with my eating patterns. It's extraordinarily hot at the moment where I live in Australia and it's been too easy to just eat fruit, a habit I need to break.. Again thanks for the words of encouragement, starting out is a very fragile time especially when friends and family in a joking tone say " sure your gonna do it", or " we've heard that before".

It's such a great feeling proving everyone wrong! :D

Hi all,

I'm back - being at school (I'm a trainee teacher) means I don't get the chance to post here during the week.

By the end of first week, I'd lost 6 or 7lbs. Unfortunately, I'm now at the end of the second week and haven't lost any more!

Do I need to cut out skimmed milk completely? I'd been having that and semi skimmed (but mainly semi as fiancé bought the wrong stuff in bulk the other week).

My only other downfall has been occassionally reaching for a fruity yoghurt in desperation when there is nothing else available (eg school canteen) and perhaps saying yes to "chocolate sprinkles" on my cappuccino. But that is about 1g of choc powder!

If I cut back to skimmed milk, non fruity yogs and no occasional sprinkles, this weight loss should continue, right?

I would if I were you write down your menus so we can see, avoid when possible fruit yoghurts but there are so many who in the second week sts be god and you will see a loss next week xxx

and if in doubt with coffee, stick to black... it's an acquired taste, but I actually prefer it now!

and maybe try your coffee black if the only choices are cappucino and/or semi skimmed milk. It's an acquired taste but I actually prefer it now...
