Jenny trying to get to goal.

Hi all,

I'm on day 3 of this diet and I must admit I am loving it. I am a big fan of meat and really wish that I'd heard about this diet ages ago.
I weighed myself this morning and I'm almost 3lbs down so really pleased about that.

I have been on and off a VLCD since december and have lost about 50lbs. I've really struggled sticking to it though as I like to actually eat instead of drinking the yakky shakes.

I'm going on holiday in 6 weeks and would love to be a stone lighten by then, I think that is a realistic goal. Im also exercising daily.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jenny, 3 lbs in 3 days is great....and with actual food! I have done vlc diets before too and it was a revaluation that I could loose weight at the same rate whilst on dukan and eating loads of food!

I think ink the main things to remember are to have your qatbran every day and don't be afraid to actually eat, the more protein you can manage the better. After a few days you don't feel hungry so you have to remind yourself to eat. The other thing is that it is a very unforgiving diet, it really is all or nothing. Stick to the rules and you'll see good losses, stray from them and it won't work.....in my experience anyway. It's a really easy diet to stick to after the first few days as you don't really crave anything and your not hungry. Have a day off though and it is soooo hard to get back to it. Good luck with your weightloss x

Hi, thank you for the reply. yeah its great to be able to eat again, lol. My husband is happy too as he hated me being on a vlcd. I will stick to it 100%, I do have 1 planned day off in May as its my hubbys birthday but I will be straight back to it the following morning so only really 1 meal off plan and a few drinks.

How long have you been on Dukan and how much have you lost so far?

Thanks x x

I've been on dukan about a year ago and lost over 3 stone, I didn't see it through till the end though and put a lot back on. Earlier this year I went on weight watchers and was going to the gym daily only to be putting on weight every week! Went to the docs and found out I had a thyroid problem. To cut a very long story short the medication made me really I'll and I put on even more weight. Starting to get better now though and with over 4 stone to loose and the weight still not shifting I decided to try dukan again. I've lost 7 lb in 4 days so far so am over the moon to finally see the scales moving! Going to try and get back to the gym very soon too and get rid of this weight!

sounds like you have been having a tough time. glad to hear that you are starting to feel better now.

I have PCOS which makes it so hard to lose weight. Ive tried eating a healthy diet with lots of exercise and struggle to lose anything. Dukan seems great for me so far, almost 5lbs down already so feeling very happy.

yeah the gym is great, Ive been going almost daily for 3 months and now have 62% muscle mass which is really high, I feel so much stronger now.

Best of luck getting to goal, sure that 4 stone will be gone before you know it.

well day 4 has been really good apart from feeling a little sick. Ive been to my nieces birthday party and there was nothing that I could eat so I waiting till I got home, the trifle looked so good but after asking myself if it was worth I decided that it wasnt. Im feeling really glad that I did not cheat :)

The scales were kind to me today and showed 12st 4lbs. I haven't been this weight for a few years, its also 2lbs down since yesterday. I haven't decided how many attack days I am going to do yet but once its over I will just weigh myself once a week (maybe a mid week weigh in sometimes). So yeah everything is good so far.

Last night I cooked about 7 turkey breasts and thought I could eat them when I felt peckish, covered them up on the kitchen side and then found my cat had managed to push the bowl that was covering them up and was licking the turkey, I was not impressed!! Today I will be more careful.

Hey Jenny

Welcome to Dukan.

Great loss so far! And I am looking forward to following you on your journey.

I tried Cambridge years ago and although lost weight very quickly, couldn't stay away from food and just never been able to get back to it. I always think to my self "wish I had discovered Dukan 10 years ago!!".

PCOS sufferer as well. Along with high BP. Losing the weight and staying low carb means my PCOS is under control and BP is normal.

Stick with it. A stone in 6 weeks is more than doable.
xx

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome.

yeah it is so hard not to eat, I was really strict for a while but then started craving cheese so had a little, then a little more and then I couldnt stop eating lol. I am much more suited to Dukan.

wow thats great that your bp and pcos is under control since being on Dukan, thank you for sharing that with me :)

I really hope I can get a stone off before I go away but just being in the 11s will feel great (psychological thing I guess) Im only just over 4lbs away from the 11s so positive I will be in the 11s when I go away, which is a great feeling.

Massive well done on your weight loss, I only work in stones and lbs but think 41kg is around 90lbs? That is brilliant, bet you feel so good now.

Hi all,

nearing the end of day 5 and I'm feeling good. Ive had a such lovely day with my children :) weighed in today and was still 12st 4lbs, I was secretly hoping to be in the 12'3s today but that is ok, hopefully I will be there tomorrow. I think that I am going to do a 7 day attack so just 2 more to go. My appetite is pretty much non-existent today which has been a little difficult. I do 2 hours of aikido on a sunday morning and felt like I had no energy as couldnt manage to eat much before I left. Ive been making a chicken omelette for breakfast and adding the oat bran but today I really had to force it down so that I got the daily amount of oat bran, I could only manage half as I started feeling sick. I think I will have to try a different recipe to add oat bran to, tried it with yogurt but really didnt like it, my daughter tried some and said it tasted like sick, bless her.

I think the only food that I am missing is cheese, oh and fudge cream balls from kfc, they are the yummiest thing I have tried in my entire life, I am salivating at the thought of them. Apart from that I am good with meat.

right Im off to have a nice bath

Hope you all enjoy the bank holiday x x

forgot to add that my hubby would moan for England about my snoring up until a couple of months ago, the other day he said that I haven't snored for ages so I guess its got something to do with being thinner as I remember seeing something on tv ages ago about being overweight and snoring. another benefit of losing weight :)

I really am going to get in the bath this time x x

Morning all,

Im happy to report that I am now in the 12'3s, it feels so good seeing the scales moving towards the magic number 11 :) I am also only 2lbs away from losing 4 stone. I have a 1 yr old and he weighs 26lbs so I have lost 2 of him, carrying him for more than a few minutes is difficult so to think of all that extra strain my heart had a few months ago is amazing, bet my heart is feeling much happier now :) 13lbs to go until my holiday. I might try oat bran muffins today in the hope of being able to get the oat bran down without eating another omelette.

day 6 of attack today, tbh I could continue on attack for a lot longer but will probably just do 1 more day as I think longer than 7 days is really recommended if you dont have quite a bit of weight to lose.

I am feeling so confident about being on Dukan, my stomach looks really flat only 6 days in :)

Have a good day all x x

It's probably not good to my to ask you this as you're not feeling well, but weren't you hungry this week on attack? I'm thinking of starting but am worried that I won't feel satisfied on just protein...

Jenny - I hope you're feeling better... As for the oatbran, my favourite way to eat it is to make it into a galette or muffins rather than just stirring it into something. Just imagine having a "piece of bread" (aka galette) next to your morning egg! Another benefit is that it's easy to transport so you can take it with you to events where you're not sure there'll be any food available for you. Check the recipe thread sticky for the recipe. Let us know if you don't find it cos I've no time left now before leaving for work.

Dietninja - on the contrary. Protein is soooo filling, you'll be amazed.

I wouldn't recommend a longer than 3 day attack period though. And, remember that this diet has FOUR phases not just the first TWO weight loss phases. If phase THREE (consolidation) isn't done with the same strictness as the weight loss phases, the weight will return. But what a joy on your holiday to be slimmer and be able to have a treat meal per week, and a little bread each day.

Good luck to the pair of you

Hi, its fine to ask :) I havent been hungry at all, make sure that I have always had something to snack on close at hand like chicken slices or crab sticks and made sure that I have been drinking enough water (apart from yesterday when I felt poorly). I if were you I would just go for it, you have nothing to lose apart from weight :) good luck x x

Hi, I am feeling so much better today thank you :) hope I dont feel sick again when I have my breakfast. Yes I am going to make the muffins today, hopefully I will like them as they will be good on the days when I am working. thanks for the tip :) have a good day x x

day 7 and what a difference sleep can make, I woke up this morning feeling back to my normal self, weighed myself and I'm 12 stone 2lbs :) over the moon as how fast I have lost 6lbs. when I was on VLCD I was really struggling to get below 12 stone 6/7lbs, I know that I was cheating a little but the scales wouldnt shift, feels good to almost be out of the 12s. It will be the last time that I see the 12s as I am fully committed to a healthy body, I never want to feel fat and unhealthy again. I was thinking yesterday that I dont really feel fat anymore, which is crazy as I have felt fat pretty much my whole life. in fact I felt fat when I weighed 9 stone when I was 21, when I look back at the pictures I was so skinny, too skinny and would never want to be that thin again, I looked ill but at the time thought I was massive!! yesterday I wore a size 12 maxi dress and size 12 jacket, I went to the fair with my hubby and the kids and actually asked him to take pictures of my with the kids, usually I take all the pictures, its amazing how losing weight can seriously alter your confidence.

day 7 on attack today, I think its probably recommended that I switch to phase 2 from tomorrow, unless others think it would be ok to stick it out for another few days?

So yeah, I am feeling really good. Older kids back at school today so I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my little boy.

Have a good day all x x

Hey Jenny, I'm here to follow,
Looks like you're doing great! I've just started this week, but you are already inspiring me!

Hi jenny :) great start :) I'm an old timer but still read the diaries!

Have you tried oatbran biscuits? They are really quick and easy and you can put ginger powder in them to make ginger biscuits. I will bump them up in the receipe thread for you :) I used to have them with a cuppa before bed :)

They only take 90 seconds in microwave aswell so that's a bonus! Xxx
