I woke up this morning and decided to try the Dukan diet. I'm one of the those people who just wake up and try something new. I've been thinking about it for a while, but going to have a real go today. Any tips for a newbie like me to do on the diet? Any advice is more than welcome.

The main advice would be to make sure you eat enough protein. It may sound obvious but we see lots of people limiting how much they eat. If you want 2 whole chickens for lunch then go for it.

Always have diet coke and a sugar free jelly in the fridge, just incase you get a sweet craving!

Dukan is an easy diet but does require preparation, as most of what you're eating has to be refrigerated. And it's very difficult to find dukan-friendly meals when you're out and about.

So read the book, plan your meals and then do a big shopping trip to make sure you have plenty of food in stock and never get hungry.

And start a diary on the forum and keep posting your meals and stats, so that we can help you along the way! Years and years of collective experience on this site!

Good luck! :)

There are some really great ideas. Plus this forum sounds like a brilliant place for support.

I did some more research into the dukan diet yesterday and started making a meal planner. This morning I starting today with low fat bacon and eggs without the yolk.

I brought some oatbran and not really sure what to do with it yet. I'll probably have a go at making some muffins later once I figured out which recipe to use!

I have oatbran in a total 0% yogurt with a sprinkle of sweetener x

Why without the yolks? I've always eaten the yolks on dukan - it's the best part of the egg!! Make sure you have your oatbran every day - it's important :) good luck

Eat the yolks! X

They say to limit to 2 yolks per day IF you suffer with high cholesterol, if your cholesterol is fine then eat away :)

sorry to jump in....

Can you go with more than two eggs a day if your near goal and getting bored of chicken breast.

You can eat as many eggs as you want they only say to limit them it you suffer with high cholesterol x

awesome ty so much :) been eating chicken breast and down one pound left just wasn't sure if adding yolks be too much fat

That's great news. Especially since cooking muffins. pancakes etc all use eggs I wasn't sure if that was included. Unlimited eggs are good.

Yolks are not too much fat,

Have you read the book? It says in there if you are without cholesterol problems there is not an issue x

i have but i've noticed many say only 2 full a day if no problems and wasn't sure if adding them since been as lean as possible and getting bored of it..lol

just wasn't sure if it will ruin progress? I could easily gobble eggs down whole all day long, why I wonder lol

I've never limited eggs on dukan and it never stopped me getting to target :) I also never limited my dairy but I guess everyone is different

I did read the book, but I guess I miss read it. I'm forever doing things like that.

I'm glad we can have unlimited egg. Although today I only had egg for breakfast. Never mind. As for tomorrow I need to make lunch to take out with me. Any suggestions?

As other have said, the egg limitations are not about dukan or calories, but about cholesterol. But I've never limited mine and think you should have what you like. Plenty of worse sources of cholesterol...
