    Total newbie to the plan

Hi everyone, I am a total newbie to dukan, I've purchased the complete dukan cookbook, sorted out the weeks dinners and down loaded the dukan book onto my iPad.

I must say say I'm a little overwhelmed and I've taken the day off work to work out everything. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. This is the biggest I have ever been I can't understand why my husband finds me attractive like this as I just don't look like me any more, I was always curvy but now I don't fit into anything I own and I've just had enough.

I used to run and do sweat yoga and be happy and confident, now I hate leaving the house! I just stepped on the scales and I knew it would be bad but I wasn't expecting 18 stone 3lb, I was expecting maybe 17st 7 at the most! I'm a size 18/20 and my goal is to get down to 13 stone 9lb, not the lightest I've ever been but dukan said this is my true weight so im happy with anything lighter right now. Dukan also said it was achievable by April 2015, which would be fab.

Any way any tips and advice to help me through the first 7 days on attack would be very helpful as I feel like I need the support xxx

You sound like you have great motivation so that's a brilliant start already! My main advice would be to try and vary meals as much as possible. Also during the attack phase definitely weigh yourself EVERY day. It really keeps you going. good luck xxx

Good luck and welcome, Bella! I'm sure you don't feel good about yourself right now, and we've all been there, but well done for taking a step in the right direction.

Reading the book is a great start, and also taking the time to prepare your kitchen. Make sure you always have lots of different proteins available, especially when you're going to be out and about: the worst way to sabotage your diet is to be hungry. And get rid of / hide / lock away all the naughty food of at all possible: no point putting temptation in your path!

Try to get out there and get active: even if you don't feel up to the level of exercise you used to do, some daily walking will make a huge difference. Or hunt down the exercise videos on YouTube and work out in the privacy of your own home!

Lastly, keep posting your menus, successes and frustrations here, even if it seems quiet and you don't get an immediate response. We are all listening, and it will be useful for you to record the journey just for yourself. Or read through some of the other diaries and recipe threads for inspiration.

    You WILL get there!

Thank you for the wonderful advice. I think for the first few days I'm going to avoid getting hungry by picking at chicken throughout the day, so I don't go off track xx

I'm fairly new on the Dukan journey as well - my biggest advice would be : be prepared!

As Dukanista says - making sure you don't get hungry. For me, this means having food ready prepared so I can take it to work... if I don't, I can imagine walking to the canteen at work all prepared to have a grilled chicken breast and finding myself distracted by pizza or a rice stir fry.

I cooked a joint of beef (lean - top rump) so that I could have slices each day, and grill chicken in batches so that I can have cold slices each day.

I'm on day 4 of a 10 day attack - so far, so good.

PS - water & walking are your friends as well... just like the good doctor says.

    Good luck and stay focused!

Week 4 - 20st 4lbs (after a week in the US on business)
    Week 5 - 20st 0lbs
    Week 6 - 19st 13lbs
    Week 7 - 19st 9lbs
    Week 8 - 19st 6lbs
    Week 9 - 19st 6lbs (boo - hiss)
Week 10 - 19st 8lbs (oh noes... a week at a conference with BAD food)
    Week 11 - 19st 4lbs (great recovery)
    Week 12 - 19st 5lbs (idiot!)

Welcome to you too, Matt, and good luck with attack. You sure you need to do 10 days, though? It sounds longer than normal. At least you're almost half way!
