New Challenge: 10,000 steps a day

Lynne will be thin!
Hi all. I'm going to start a new challenge tomorrow. It is really simple. The idea is to try to become more active throughout the day. You need a pedometer and all you have to do is to aim to do 10,000 steps a day. Even if you don't do that many you should increase your activity because you will think more about ensuring you get the steps in. At the end of each day whoever posts their steps first will need to do a new post stating which day number it is and how many steps they have done. For example:

DAY 1

Lynne 6724 steps

Whoever goes next will need to copy and paste this and add their daily steps total. For example:

DAY 1

Lynne 6724 steps
Tigs 9864 steps

It's a good way of upping your exercise in addition to any other exercise you are doing. Don't worry if you can't join on day 1, you can join at any time.

Just popping in here this morning before work to log yesterdays steps. :)

Day 1

Giggles 9469 steps

That's impressive GP.

Thanks lynne, the days I work I know I'll hit 10000+. I'm busy on my feet all the time. It's my days off work that I'll have to try harder.

Day 2

Giggles 12861 steps

Hi GP.Can't wait to join you I was hoping my pedometer would arrive today but it didn't. I bought one for while I was waiting but it didn't work! When I do get it I'll have to be careful with my leg. Going to ask the physio for advice tomorrow.

Pedometer arrived today! Will be starting the challenge tomorrow. I won't be able to do large numbers of steps because of my leg injury but I'm aiming to build up day by day!

Shall we restart today then so that we're both on day 1? :)

Yes please. I've got mine on now. I won't be able to get many steps in at first but hopefully if I use my leg more walking on the flat it will improve. I'm going to see how many I do today and then aim to improve on that tomorrow and so on.

Not a brilliant start but it won't be too hard to beat tomorrow!

DAY 1

Lynne 4993 steps

Ha ha. Couldn't resist! It makes me feel better about hobbling along trying to get some exercise in!

Not very good but not bad, I suppose, with a gammy leg:

DAY 2

Lynne 4361 steps

Lynne that's good!

you motivated me to get on on Sunday....
Day 1(yesterday) 16600 ... But I did go for a run
Day 2(today) 15994 ... But I did run 3.5 miles with it on

Impressive Shrimp! When my legs's OK and I'm counting steps I increase them on the treadmill. I might have a go walking on the treadmill later but at the moment my exercise is limited to a couple of short dog walks. I have to get the balance between not making my leg worse by overusing or making it stiffen up by not using it!
DAY 3

Lynne 4242 steps

Re-starting...

Day 1

Giggles 15478 steps

Day 2

Giggles 14836 steps

Day 3

Yet another new start. Pedometer back on - the dog will be walked well today!
