Laura's Exante Diary

So this is the start of my journey, where my goal is to lose some weight to feel better about myself and give me back my confidence.

I am new to VLCD and it is quite daunting. From reading everyone's updates and seeing that others can do it, makes me think i can do it to. So i'm on a mission.

I started today, I am dreading the side effects such as the headaches and feeling a bit queasy but I know I just need to get through the first few days and need to stay focused.

I haven't discussed the diet with anyone close to me, I just want to get on with it. If they ask me I'll tell them, it's not a secret, I just don't want to make a fuss of it.

I'm interested to hear how others are coping and the results they are achieving - its so encouraging knowing I'm not on this journey alone.

Maybe nobody will read my diary and thats ok, I'm doing this for me, so that i can look back as i start to get back to being the old me. But i do hope that others can empathize with me and that my diary can maybe help someone else just like everyone else's posts/diaries that I have read on here so far have helped me to make these first steps.

So here goes....day one!

Had my first Strawberry shake this morning - it was quite nice. Now trying to decide what soup to have... decisions decisions....

Hi and welcome. I'm about fifteen weeks in, I have lost s little over four stone. I done so well leading up to Christmas, stopped for Christmas and have messed about with it after this, still lost two stone since then but don't know how.

I like strawberry shakes, not my favourite but nice. The soups are not for me. I cannot stomach them st all.

Good luck to u and I look forward to seeing how u get on x

Hi, thank you for welcoming me! 4 stone in 15 weeks is amazing. I want to lose 3-3.5 stone.

I've just had the vegetable soup. It was ok, palatable i guess. My problem is I prefer savoury to sweet, so if i was just to stick to the shakes I don't think i'll last! I ordered a weeks supply with a mix of everything to see what i liked. The plan is to order a bumper pack once i work out what i prefer. What are your favourite items?

Good luck to you. I look forward to keeping up with how you are getting on too! X

My favourite is the vanilla shake with coffee and the porridge.. which is very sweet.

How are u finding it? The first few days r such s struggle. And it seems to b very common to really struggle to restart x

Well, as i'm only on day one, so far I have only tried the strawberry shake and the vegetable soup. I may have a vanilla shake tonight and will try the porridge in the morning. I'll let you know what i think! Do you put coffee in the vanilla shake? Sounds nice, i might try it!

I've been trying to keep busy today so that i don't have time to think about being hungry. I'm ok at the moment, but dreading getting the headaches. Did you suffer from headaches?

Fingers crossed I can get through the first few days! When did you restart? X

Yes, I have it warm with coffee. Very comforting. The porridge is very sweet. But so so so tasty.

I am constantly restarting lol cannot stick to it now. Still losing weight overall so I don't mind too much, just s bit frustrating. I have my hen night in two weeks and my wedding two weeks after that so I am stopping overall on the day of my hen. I am annoyed I haven't lost as much as I could but then I have lost more than I could have thought possible if u had asked me 6 months ago.

Do you have s goal in mind? X

Looking forward to trying the porridge tomorrow!

You shouldn't be disappointed you have lost lots. Stick at it for 2 more weeks until your hen night and then you can relax!

My goal is to lose 3 stone. Then i will see how I feel. I don't want to be stick thin, just the right shape for my height and frame, so i'll see how i get on. Just need to take it day by day i suppose.

Keep me posted on how you get on during the run up to your hen day! X

Hi all,

So day 2 is here and i feel surprisingly ok. I have a bit of a headache but just keep drinking water in the hope that it disappears. Today I need to keeep myself busy so that there is no temptation to eat! I think, for me, getting through a Sunday will be a challenge! So as long as I get through today - i should be fine for the rest of the week ahead (I hope)...

Here's to the day ahead...!

I'm hoping that Ketosis will kick in over the next 24 hours. I don't feel hungry, just a bit tired so I could use a bit of energy.

Loads of water, two paracetamol nd an early night.... Xxx

Day 3 is here and i'm already struggling. Need to keep busy today as I know from reading everyones's posts it gets easier! I still have a headache and i'm drinking lots of water. Going to try the banana shake today. :)

Hi Laura, first few days are the hardest yeah, but once you get them under your belt it becomes really easy. Once you establish a routine it becomes normal :p and becomes very addictive aswell once you feel/see the pounds melting away! :) good luck for the rest of the week!!!

Hi Aaron,

Thanks so much for the encouragement - I need it to stay motivated! Being new to a VLCD, I am going by what I read about everybody else's experiences so I know its normal to feel this way. Just need to get today out of the way and I'll be fine (I hope!)
You look like you have done well. Have you stuck to the diet strictly? Have you found it hard too?
Laura :)

Well thank goodness day 3 is nearly over! It's been the hardest day so far. But hopefully tomorrow will be easier. Might just weigh myself tonight to give me something to tell me it's all worth it!

Day 3 is a monster!!! Day 4 should start to get easier for you... Keep up your fluids. Good luck xx
