    Jael001's Exante Diary

I've been posting in the other section of this forum but decided to start a diary here so that I have somewhere to come back to to update. So I've started today, starting weight is 17st 11.5 and I'm only 5'4 so that's far too much for me. I'm a single parent to an 11 year old skinny daughter who eats non-stop and is still skinny. And I work from home, which means the kitchen is just across the hall from my bedroom where I work from, which up to now has been part of the problem. But I guess now it's just across the hall so it's easy to keep filling up my water bottle

As I'd said in the other thread, I had made the decision last year when I turned 40, to stop dieting altogether. After 20 years of doing every diet under the sun, and only ever getting to goal twice, once 20 years ago when I only actually had 10lbs to lose and once 6 years ago when I did LL, and having only stayed at goal a matter of months, I decided that I was never meant to be slim and to just stop trying. My entire life revolved around either being on a diet, or thinking about dieting and feeling guilty for every mouthful I ate that I shouldn't. I have to say I have been so much happier the last year than I have been for a very long time, letting go of the guilt and just eating what I liked was great, but healthwise I've noticed a difference. I put on about 4 stone in that year, and now I'm struggling with things like walking up stairs, even walking to the end of the block has me out of breath, putting on my socks and shoes is a struggle, finding bras to fit me (it doesn't help that I'm a huge cup size as well as back size) is nearly impossible, and my life is almost completely sedentary, I work from home in a ground floor flat, my daughter now gets the school bus so I dont leave the house most days, or even bother to get dressed quite a lot of the time. The weight is holding me back and making me even lazier than I was before. It's time to do something about it before I turn into a complete recluse.

I was going to start the diet tomorrow, being the 1st of the month, but then I decided not to put it off and just start today. Breakfast was porridge (a bit watery and lumpy, will have to experiment to get it right) and a coffee. I have a Nespresso machine so coffee is my luxury item, and I drink it black anyway, so I'm glad I can still have that. Lunch was the mushroom soup which I drank from a big mug and I quite liked it, I didnt add anything to it and it was fine. I haven't decided yet whether to have a chocolate shake or a bar for dinner. I only ordered 1 week's worth of stuff initially but then last night I ordered a box of 50 choc shakes as the price was so good (and the special price was ending today). I had one of the choc shakes last night before bed just to check I liked it and it was ok, but I'm thinking I might try it tonight made into a pudding the way I used to do it on LL when I did that about 6 years ago. I just found it easier to eat that way, and because it took longer to eat, I found it filled me up better. I'm doing ok with the water, although I'm not used to it, haven't been drinking anything most days apart from a cup or 2 of coffee, and got a cup of green tea on my desk at the moment. I used to drink tons of green tea when I was doing Slimming World a few years ago but haven't had it in ages and forgot how tart it is, will have to get used to it again. I've got mint tea somewhere so will have that this evening before bed I think.

Well I made the chocolate shake into a paste the same way I did when I did LL and ate it with a teaspoon and it was lovely, it's really sweet and chocolatey and just what I needed, I was starting to feel hungry. I'm a bit headachey at the moment so will have some more water before I take anything and then make some mint tea before bed.

Well after having had a 100% perfect day yesterday, lots of water and everything good, no "extras" at all, I just stood on my scales and they showed a quarter lb gain. What the???? Ok it's early, it's 6.30am, yesterday I weighed myself about 9am, but still, what's going on? I peed every 5 minutes yesterday, to the point where it was annoying me, so I should have lost water weight at least right? I'm not going to let this be a problem, I'm going to weigh myself again at 9am and see what the scales say, and then I'm going to have another 100% perfect day today.

Well done for starting your diary yesterday and biting the bullet. Don't fret over what the scales say it's maybe the amount of fluid u drank if your body isn't used to that much!! Good luck for day 2. I need to make sure I drink enough I know that's my downfall!

Thanks Sarah. I'll try again on the scales a bit later. My weekday morning routine is that my alarm goes off at 6.20, I get up, go to the loo etc, then wake my daughter up. She leaves for the school bus at 7.30 and then I usually go back to bed until 8.50 at which point I get up properly and get ready for working from home. I start work between 9.00 and 9.30 so I usually have my breakfast etc while I'm setting up for work. I only work Mondas, Wednesdays and Fridays so yesterday obviously I wasn't working, although to be honest I didnt leave the house yesterday so my routine wasn't much different and I spent as long on the computer probably watching tv shows. So anyway, instead of weighing when I get up the first time, I'll just make sure to weigh the second time instead.

Ok I've just weighed myself again and since I started the diet yesterday I've lost....half a lb! But at least it's half a lb less than I was yesterday right? Hopefully it'll speed up in the coming days when I go into ketosis. I have no plans for this weekend so I can stay home and concentrate on the diet and not be tempted by anything.

That's good. I everyday you lost half a lb by next week it'd be 3.5 lb and a stone in a month! Sure you'll lose more but that puts it into perspective

You're absolutely right Sarah, I must keep reminding myself of that. I've done this type of diet before, I know it works, I've just got to stick to it, and I've got a box of 50 chocolate shakes arriving today so that'll keep me going

I'm having a bit of a tough morning. I had my chocolate shake this morning (made as a shake this time) and a coffee but I've been so busy with work I've not really touched the big glass of water on my desk, I haven't had time to even think about it. Plus (TMI time) I've had the runs this morning. I dont recall that being a side effect of these diets, but it's been quite bad. Hope that stops soon. Will have a choc & orange bar for lunch shortly, dont really have time to make anything and I wanted to see what they're like anyway.

hmm, the bar is ok, not amazing, very dry and has a bit of an aftertaste. It's also quite filling so I'm going to leave some for a bit later I think, it feels like too much to eat in one go. Which is an amazing thing for me to say, because my god can I put away a quantity of food normally lol.
