Total Solution Lynne's journey to losing 6stone and running 5k. Countdown to Philadelphia.

Lynne will be thin!
:sign0144:Hi I'm Lynne.I'll be 59 this month and am still waiting to feel grown up! I currently live in North East Derbyshire in Dronfield, which is between Chesterfield and Sheffield, with my 2 sons (Chris 24 and Tom 21), a patterdale lakeland terrior cross called Billy and a 3 legged cat, Jesse. I work about 40 miles away as an Operations, Restorative Justice and Arts Manager on a Youth Offending Team. This means leaving home at 6.45 am and getting home at 7.30pm! On 16th June and 7th July I will be running the Race for Life in Chesterfield and Huddersfield respectively. The first one will be with my friend Susan and her daughter, Laura and the second is as team leader for the 21 strong YOT Women Team. Previously I have always jogged / walked the race..... THIS TIME I AM DETERMINED TO RUN IT!!!! Whilst I was only 7 stone at 18, over the years my weigh rose due to poor diet, too much beer and wine and very little exercise and to make matters worse I was told I was pre diabetic type 2 a couple of weeks ago :( MY MISSION NOW IS TO LOSE WEIGHT, GET FIT AND NOT BECOME DIABETIC. I started exante on 28th April, joined mimimins yesterday and start my 5k training today. Am visiting my sister in Philadelphia on 18th July.
Start weight: 14st 2lb
Target weight: 8st
Week one weight: 13st 8 lb (8lb loss)
I'd really love to keep in touch with other women travelling the same journey.
Lynne:)

Right, that's it. Going to do my first training 'run' - 2 mins jogging + 1 min walking X 8. I wonder how many calories this will be. Will keep a daily total of how many calories used and - of course - whether I adhered to Exante TS and what I had.

Thanks Jael. Good luck to you too. I have read your diary and know you can do it. I've also seen you like a bargain - have just bought 6 weeks worth of meals for £99.99 via groupon!:)

Thanks Lynne :) Just a word of warning, we're not allowed to talk about deals on here, references to them get deleted.

Thanks for letting me know. Oops better not do that again :(

Today's progress so far

Had strawberry shake for breakfast - I really like the shakes now. When I first started I was full of cold and thought all the meals were tasteless! Have also drunk 1ltr of water and a peppermint tea.
Ordered 'Run Fat ***** Run' for inspiration - I hope - and 6 weeks' supply of extante meals.

Did 30 minutes on the treadmill. Only managed 3 of the 8 x 2 mins jogging but walked fast the rest of the time. I can see it will be a struggle to get race fit for the race for Life 5K  Used 261 calories so not all bad! Will walk the dog a couple of times and do another 30 mins on the treadmill later on.

Right, now off for lunch. Having a chocolate orange bar and a large americano coffee :)

Not a bad day today. Stuck to TS and used 520 calories up exercising! Tomorrow will be harder - back at work.

That's fantastic Lynne, but just be aware that your weight loss may stall on the scales if you do too much exercise in your first few weeks while your body is getting used to living on so few calories and while it learns to use your own bodyfat as fuel. If you do too much exercise and burn too many of those few calories you're taking in your body will go into starvation mode where it wont burn any fat at all but will start to burn muscle instead (which includes heart muscle) which is the opposite of what you want. Just be careful please.

Thanks Jael. I've had a day off additional exercise today.

Back to work today

Amazing - four people at work asked me if I'd lost weight! :) I didn't think anyone would notice! Stuck to TS totally today and found it Quite easy. Probably because I was sat in meetings all day and so wasn't tempted to eat anything extra.
Haven't done any additional exercise. After work I went to visit a friend who has recently had a preventative double mastectomy. She's such a brave woman. I then went food shopping - for my sons - after travelling back on thetrain and didn't get home until after 8 pm so didn't have time. Also, have taken heed of Jael's advice and don't want to start burning muscle instead of fat

A bit of gentle exercise is recommended, about 20 minutes of walking, that kind of thing, but any serious calorie burning exercise should really wait a couple of weeks. But well done, and oh how great that people are noticing already :)

I was really surprised - I can't see any difference yet!

Slept in today. That was embarrassing  Couldn't sleep last night because I was wired having drunk too much black coffee! Did well on exante and again a number of colleagues commented on my weight loss although I still don't see much difference myself.
Weighed myself this morning and was pleased to see I have lost another lb. ( I know you should only weigh yourself once a week but I can't help myself and do it a least once a year) Now up to 10lb loss after 11 days on extante. Can't believe it! :)

Disappointing day today. The motor in my blender broke this morning so went to Asda during my lunch break to buy a new one. When there I bought a pack of Baby Belles with the intention of eating only one but once back at the office I ate the entire pack. Only positive in all this is that there are no carbs in Baby Belles so still in ketosis but I hope my weight lossisn't too badly affected. :(

Again, didn't stick to TS. :( Had a banana shake for breakfast, chocolate orange bar for lunch and chicken soup for tea BUT also had some roast chicken this afternoon. Again no carbs, but plenty of calories!

No carbs is good!

No carbs is good but I still had extra calories. Really hope I've lost a decent amount when I weigh in tomorrow. Have stuck to TS today so hopefully it will be OK. Tried the pasta meal for team today - not sure if I like it or not!

Good look for tomorrow

Hiya Lynne!

Don't beat yourself up too much on it, as long as your having no carbs you should still go into ketosis and you will still lose weight!

Why don't you have a little look at the working solution so you don't feel guilty about having a little bit of food? And if you pre plan the food then you can ensure you don't have too much calories or fat content?
