My weightloss so far on Exante and what I did wrong 8th day

Hello Everybody,

Finally I decided to keep a diary as I think it would be very helpful.:p I started reading here the moment I purchased my pack, extremely helpful, thank you all for the advice and love the support you give to eachother.

Before Christmas I've been doing Ketogenic Diet (something like Atkins) and was quite happy except that I had to limit myself to around 20-24g carbs/day all the time; I was a steady 57kg (I was still cheating from time to time) After Christmas plus my partner's birthday I saw that I went up to 62kg, gained 5kg in a few weeks:eek:. It's my fault I couldn't control the carbs, but everything is soo yummy, but I panicked - this is the highest weight that I've been in my whole life.

Since I was a child I was chubby and didn't feel comfortable about that. Only in high-school I decided to do something about it and did low calorie diet. Yepiii it worked!! But I always have to fight to keep my weight down.
In the past years I tried low calorie but it just wasn't working, that's why I decided for first low GI (not worked at all ), Dukan (but found it difficult the first 5 days), saw Atkins and then discovered Ketogenic (that I felt comfortable with). Trouble is that the ketogenic one is a way of living and I love some more carbs.

To be honest choosing Exante was a thing of the moment, because I never thought I'd ever do a VLCD until now. When started my BMI was 24.8 and was afraid to go over 25 so went for a Bumper Pack especially that it was on sale.

I started on the 8th of January and while on the diet, started reading a lot of threads on here that really helped me stay strong. I saw a lot of inspirational stories so I thought if they can do it, I can do it too.
The first 2 days were very bad, had the Atkins flu (headache, shivering, mood change) but from third day I was in Ketosis :p - I used Ketosix from the beginning. I lost 2.7 kg till yesterday (didn't expect that). I even keep a word doc diary to see what I eat and what effects me.

Today I was following the plan and then chocolate monster hit me. I had some leftovers Atkins bars that I used for my Ketogenic diet and were working for that diet well. I had only 1/3 of the chocolate orange one (I weighed it) and it put me out of ketosis :cry:I can't believe it... Will never do that mistake again, gave it to my partner, but I'm soo upset on myself...How could I do such a thing???

Hopefully tomorrow the ketostix will show me different :sigh:

Hi and welcome aboard xx

First of all I would say stop panicking and give yourself a break ;) You sound like you're doing fine and one little slip in the grand scheme of things isn't so bad. I've never heard of the ketogenic diet but I'm sure if the bar was part of that diet it can't be overly high in calories so it shouldn't affect your weight loss. being out of ketosis isn't the end of the world it just means the next day or so may be harder than normal, but I'm sure you'll get through that fine.

I never use the ketostix, I'm doing the diet 100% ts so no reason to think it's not working - weighing & peeing on sticks all the time can make you obsessive and I don't want to do that so I steer clear ;)

I hope you have a better day today - good luck xx

Hi Karla,

Thanks for the encouragement; it really helps :) You are doing so well to stick to it 100%!!!
Turns out I was worried for nothing because in the morning when I weighed myself I lost another 700g :D I have to admit I weigh myself daily, but only once in the morning. The third of the bar that I ate had 82kcal, protein 6g, no sugars, just polyols that's why I thought I could get away with it.

Today after I weighed myself I felt so good and positive so had my strawberry milkshake and now I'm drinking my green tea:rolleyes: Later on I plan to have Spag Bol and for dinner Pasta Carb; love the meals and couldn't do this diet without them.

Good luck on the weightloss journey xx

Hello and welcome, very best of luck :) x

Hi Minnie,

Thanks.
Your weight loss is impressive. Are you on Exante too?

Good luck with your last stone :wavey:x

Day 10

Today I found out how it feels when after you loose an amount of weight the previous day and you see that you put it almost all back the next day.
I weigh myself daily, only once in the morning. Yesterday morning, the scale showed me I lost 700g, only for today to show my weight upper with 600g :sigh:
But, it's ok, I don't get discouraged and I'll still carry on 100%. I know that the weight fluctuates a lot...
The good thing is that I find it does me good to keep a diary, even if it's not detailed :)

May the fat fairy be with you all

Hi Sunray. I weigh daily but have to accept that weight can fluctuate for all sorts of reasons. It's the weekly loss that matters, even if it isn't as high as you had hoped for. Well done so far. You're doing brilliantly. The amount you lose is also dependent on what you weigh to start with.

Hi Lynne,

Thanks for the encouragement and the advice. I know you're right, I'll have to see Wed morning what my weight loss over the second week is.
I admire that you keep with Exante and don't give up.

Good luck :)

There's quite a lot of people on here that seen to keep trying. I'm still nearly 2 stone lighter than when I started in May last year which is enough to keep me going. I can't keep on !S for weeks on end like some people can but I try to keep setting myself targets. I also am quite good at not binging for more than a couple of days. I know from past experience what happens if you just don't bother about what you eat for long periods of time. Another thing is that I don't want to lose too quickly and end up with lots of saggy skin!

Yes, that's true. Well done for your loss and for keeping it off over these months
I've been on other diets more restrictive from carbs point of view, I find this one quite easy to follow no carb or calorie counting and quit a wide choice of products. Personally, I couldn't do it only with shakes.

I'm very interested about maintaining the loss.
I think I'll do another week of TS besides this one and try to switch to 4:3 and after I reach my goal 5:2. Do you think that would be ok?
Also do you think I should combine it with low carb normal food when I get to my goal?

Any advice would be much appreciated :D

I think that would be a good plan because you don't have vast amounts to lose. If you read through Carrie's diary you'll see how she does it although her diet is a bit more drastic!

Do you know by any chance which page Carrie's diary is at?
I've been through 11 pages and didn't see it...:sigh:

I hope I'm not too much of a bother

She's in the Silver Members Diaries. Carrieclaus.

Cheers!
Let's see if I can find her. I'm still getting the hang on how things work on the site.

All the best :)

Thanks a lot Lynne!
Unfortunately, I can't access it. I'm required to have at least 500 posts :(
How did your weekend go?

Today was a bad day...:(
I gave in and ate normal food.

I think weekends are the hardest, especially if one has to cook and you see your partner indulging with all the yummy food :cry:Tomorrow I plan to restart and stick to it 100%

All the best to you all, fellow dieters

Thanks, I'm going fine. It does get easier once you're in ketosis. I'm sorry you didn't manage to keep to exante this weekend. Do you have to cook for your partner? could you not just ask them to cook their own food until you're well established on track? You might find next weekend easier if you've done 100% all week. It won't take you long to reach your goal once you're 100% I find week days the hardest because I live a long way from work and end up with 13.5 hour days, leaving home at 7am and getting back at 8.30pm

Yes, Lynne I cook for my partner. I'd feel bad about asking him to cook for himself and even if that happened, it would be difficult because I can still smell the food:( At the moment I'm not working, only he does and feel bad about staying at home and not doing much, although he seems to like me staying at home.
Also, my partner is a person that goes to gym most of the days so he burns calories quickly even if he eats loads (and he does, I'm jealous).

I start work again at the beginning of Feb, thanks God for that, cos is very difficult for me not to have an activity and stick with this diet, but I try my best. It's good that at least I go to my college :). Mostly I went with bad eating because I was at home from middle of Dec till now (included) that's why lbs pilled up and plan to take a stand against them till is not too late.

On the other hand, I find the first 3-4 days very good for staying at home because these are the hardest days when I feel very ill.

Thanks again for your support. It means a lot to me:happy036:
