Hi everyone,

Day 1 of exante starts here. Just had a vanilla shake with a shot of coffee in it and it's not too bad - a bit greasy and fatty but drinkable. Fills me up which is the important thing!

A bit of background about me - I'm 34, live up north with my hubby, a black lab called Barney and 3 cats. We have been trying for a baby for a few years and then in Jan we finally got pregnant (we were due to start IVF). Sadly I recently lost the baby, and now have 4 months of pregnancy weight gain, on top of a year or so of weight gain after my last successful diet loss (oh there have been a few unsuccessful attempts too!).

I tend to yo yo - hence the name. Since I was 13 I seem to lose weight and then put it back on. About 2 stone each time so I've never been obese, but marginally overweight. I am determined to keep it off this time. I got to 9 stone 7 in June 2012 for my wedding and was a size 8. I lost over 2 stone on Dukan and toned up by doing bodyrock.tv but I've tried most of the diets. Never a tfr though so hoping this exante will help to retrain my eating habits.

Since my wedding I went back to eating normally pretty much straight away and I was back up to 12 stone again by March 2013. A few half hearted attempts at Dukan and slimming world means that I am starting from the same weight pretty much as I was last march.

So here goes.

Starting weight -77.45 (12.35ish) - my scales are in kg unfortunately
Starting date- 23.04.14

Goal weight - 63kg (just so I am in the 9's - 9.13)

Mini goals - for now...

Do a full day on exante
Do 2 days on exante
3 days on exante
4 days on exante
5 days on exante
6 days on exante
7 days on exante
Lose 7 pounds

Wish me luck! Hoping to get through today without any major food thoughts and drink enough water!

Well done yoyo :)

you seem very determind and im sure you will do great!

keep drinking that water and let the diet work its magic ;)

Day 1 for me too! Good luck to you I hope we both get through it :)

Thanks miss mac and bananaboo

Just having a hot cross bun bar now. Going to take bites every now and again rather than eating in one go. Was starting to feel headachy and light headed so thought I would open another pack. I ordered a mixed 4 week bumper box but that only has shakes soups and bars so I ordered one each of the porridges, pancakes, this hot cross bun bar, and the carbonara, and spag Bol so I could try them.

Think I'd rather have a shake than this bar, but I can see that the bars would come in handy if you were grabbing on the go. It tastes ok, quite like hot cross bun but it has a very fudge like texture, a bit gritty and has a funny aftertaste. I went for exante as they don't contain sweetener - I can't stand the taste of sweetener. So at least they don't taste of that.

Bananaboo - we can be exante buddy's! How much do you want to lose?

Let me know what the pancakes taste like when you have them? They looked lush but so does everything when you havent eaten since last year! Lol (i only have shakes!) ;)

Lol, will do! I don't know how you cope on just over 400 cals a day - I didn't think that was even possible without being ill!

Interesting thing today is eating and not getting any pleasure from it. I'm actually glad I'm doing this as it might help retrain my attitude towards food. I do love food. No cravings yet though, just a killer headache :(

I like your idea miss mac of writing down the food when you have food thoughts - I will do that. I'm following the total plan so I have to have a low cal week with food every 4th week - maybe some of the food on the list I will be able to have that week.

Oh well, onwards with the water. Only had 1.5 pints so far, another 2.5 at least to go...

A normal 'fast' day for example on the 5:2 diet is no more than 500 cals but i based mine off cambridge diet calories.
Not saying that i would recommend my 'tweeked' diet but i found what works for me which is the important thing :)

Yes we can :)

I ideally would like to lose around 6 stone but I will defo start feeling happy when I have lost 3. I can't believe how easy it is to pile stones on.

It's amazing how easily you can cope with so little calories, maybe I won't be saying that further into this week though lol

I have a killer headache - how you feeling?

Changed my mind about the bars! I'm still eating the one I started at 3pm! They are fab for keeping hunger at bay

I haven't had any headaches yet. I don't think I am drinking enough water though. I really love the bars. They are just so easy. I am quite private and don't tell anyone much so I prefer to be discreet at work, at least until I have lost some weight, so don't really want anyone to know what I am doing.

maybe more water would help your headache if you can get some down you

I know what you mean bananaboo - I've not really told anyone I'm doing this - they will only have an opinion on the VLCD and tell me I don't need to lose weight (when I so obviously do).

Glad you're doing ok today - still have a headache but drinking lots of water - I'm on my 5th pint now, how much are you drinking?

Having pasta carbonara for dinner, just come home from brownies (I am tawny owl) I hope it's edible!

The verdict is.. It's quite yummy actually. No horrible aftertaste like the shake and bar I had today - I'll be having the carbonara again :) (although I'll need to order some more)

Hey yoyo

I really really hate that. When people say 'oh you look fine, you don't need to lose weight' it makes me mad. They are prob just trying to be nice I don't know.

I don't think I've drank nearly as much as you but I'm going to try to have more tomorrow. I downloaded an app which reminds you to drink water, you just set the times and it has an alarm lol. I'm bad at drinking water at the best of times, I do think it helps with the headaches though.

Let me know how you go on with the pasta :)

Hi yoyo Good luck on your journey. I always avoid the carbonara because I can't seem to make it right!

Thanks! My friend just told me to make it over a low heat for 10 mins on the hob - think I'll try that next time :)

Yeah I'm not great at drinking water but I've managed just over 2 litres today :)

Pasta was lovely by the way! Think I prefer the savoury to the sweet as there's no aftertaste

Off to bed now, I feel like I could eat something but I won't. Maybe a good sleep will get rid of this headache.

Day 1 done! :) first goal complete!

Woohoo hi five ?let's hope tomorrow is just as easy.
