My Diet Diary

Dear Diary,

My name is Jodie, I'm a vegetarian, and I'm fat.

I have always been the not fat - but not skinny girl. Through my late teenage years (16-18yrs) I struggled to be happy with my 5ft6 and 11 stone body, this resulted in many weeks of starving myself, making myself sick, and crying myself to sleep. I had always been sporty - badminton, horse riding and rowing. Which I all stopped to stay focused on my a-levels, this and the new boyfriend - who eats nothing but crap, yet somehow keeps a six pack!? - made the weight pile on.
When my boyfriend and I first got together I weighed 13st, 3 and a half years later I have piled on 4 stone.

"but your vegetarian" I hear you say... Yes a diet of carbs and a wide variety of cheeses.

I previously did weight watchers - started at 16st9 in jan and dropped to 14st7lbs in time for my sister in laws wedding in April. None of the less I put more on, and here I am doing exante.

I have a hen do in June and I made it my goal to get down to 14st. I know - 38 days to go, to lose currently 36lbs, call me crazy!

I started exante on the 1st may 2014 and have currently lost half a stone, but i am finding it challenging.

I have started the diary to keep me on track, monitor my process and keep me inspired. I will be aiming to post once a day, so we will see how this goes!

Wish me luck!

Dear Diary And so the official diary countdown begins.

To be brutally honest, this has been the hardest day so far. I feel like my eyes are being pushed out of my skull, I'm drinking so much water I am scared to sneeze for the fear I might wee myself! not forgetting the hunger pangs that seem to refuse to go away, although I have one meal left I don't want to use it too soon just in case my boyfriend comes home with food... is it bad that I was going to joke about eating him and then actually thought about it for a good few minutes?

I feel like a minute hasn't passed where I have not thought about food. I brought a bag of ice out the freezer for my shake today and when I opened the freezer there was a box of fish fingers, I was too scared to go put the ice back into the freezer in case I couldn't resist. For the rest of the day I have thought about those fish fingers so much so I have refused to leave the comfort of my bed.

Think I'm going to have pancakes for tea tonight, I'm hoping the sweetness will be enough to settle me for the night.

I have been up until now! please tell me I'm not going crazy!?

On the diet related note, I have decided that as I started the diet on Thursday I will be now weighing myself every Thursday, and after this Thursday I will only be weighing myself once a week - don't want to jump on that emotional rollercoaster.

Good luck!

It can be done :)

Thank you so much!

Dear diary,

i know technically this counts as day 36, but I'm going to cheat.

My day has been hectic preparing for a job interview I have tomorrow, has its benefits like being to nervous to think about food! Plus it weigh in day tomorrow.

All in all, I need all the luck I can get right now.

Erghhhhh, hate job interviews!

I'm day 15. Restarted from feb I think?!

I can't let myself cheat and nibble. That's when u fall off wagon! X

wow day 15! That's amazing. How are you finding it?

Good luck fir interview!!!

I'm finding it ok at the moment. Just plodding along following the rules n being patient :)

Let me know how u get on interview wise x

Hey Jodie, good luck on your countdown. It is a tough one and the first days are the hardest. Time doesn't seem to move at all when your mind is stuck in one setting, namely food. But think how frustrating it would be to cave now and having to start all over again. Read anyone's diary who's been here a while (including my own), restarts are not fun. So keep going, it won't be long until you start to feel a lot better and start to see the weight coming off too.

Hi Jodie, hope today went well x

Dear Diary,

Don't fear! I have not fallen off the wagon with the diet completely... just been absent on the boards. Thursday (weigh-in) went great in week one I lost 9lbs, so I'm pleased with that. However my interview is a whole different story! It went so bad so I don't think I have got the job, nerves got the better of me!

Friday night I had a work colleagues leaving meal, so ate mushrooms in a garlic sauce and spicy tomato pasta, I had planned to eat only half the portion of pasta, but only ate a third to being so full! And yesterday I went to frankie and bennys but made a slightly healthier choice and only had a salad with calamari, though it would be less carbs than a pizza!

I have weighed myself today to check the damage and gave gained 3lbs, so my lesson has been learnt! Do not let one bad meal turn into a bad weekend! I've also ordered some zaggora pants, has anyone tried them? Going to order my fancy dress costume for the hen weeken today... Going to order it in a size lower as motivation.

Good luck fir interview!!!

Thank you! The luck will definitely be needed. The interview didn't go too well, just feel like I didn't do myself justice. I missed a call from the person that interviewed my on Friday, but haven't heard anything since...think I will find out on Monday fingers crossed!

Thankyou so much! Definitely tough! I find I'm struggling more when I'm bored or upset so its a game of trying to keep me entertained!
