Phat to THIN!

This was m first day on Exante and although I have not had my 3rd meal pack of the day, I am not feeling hungry. I feel a bit peculiar… but I couldn't describe it very well. Kind of light headed -ish. Not in a bad swimmy way or anything, just a feeling of maybe… emptiness? Like I said - I can't quite describe it, but I'm not hungry, the 2 meals I have had were tasty and surpassed my expectations which is awesome.

So my goal is to get from my exante start weight of 117kgs (18st 6) to 76kgs (11st 0)? 41kgs. I wonder how long it will take? 7 or 8 months? Scary.

I think I will have to have an interim goal of my lowest weight whilst dieting which is 95kgs (15st.) 22 kgs seems more doable! :D

So, now I am going to cool dinner for my family… That's the hard part! LOL

Welcome. Godd that you like the meals. It does make a difference to be able to eat something hot that feels more like a meal that just a shake or a bar. I've tried the carbonara, chilli, mushroom risotto and spag bol and the spag bol is the only one I wouldn't eat again. Very weird taste to me but lots of people love it. Just the shepherd's pie to try now. Do try and have your third product. It's important for your RDA of vitamins and minerals as well as ensuring your body doesn't go into starvation mode. Good luck with it and I look forward to keeping up with your progress. I'm going to be doing this for several months myself.

Welcome to the forum, there are quite a few of us that are in it for the long haul & you will get plenty of support which is so important on a diet like this.

The earlier days can be tough so try to drink plenty & as Cate says don't be tempted to skip any packs cos you need them to keep the weight loss reducing & the nutrition they supply.

Good luck with cooking, hope its not too tough on you x

Thanks! I had the chilli and really loved it. I cooked the boys tea and then i cooked mine. They were mostly finished by the time i have microwaved and waited blka bla :) all worked out on. I also ate it with a teaspoon as i thought this would slow down the impact of eating so little. This morning I am not even hungry and I thought I would be starving, so thats great. Just had my porridge to kick start things and away we go.

Also dug out some leto stix from when I did atkins about 10 years ago!! Time to clear out my bathroom cupboard i think!!

Great to hear you're feeling good. Hope your day goes well. :)

A great start. I am here for the long haul too. Keep at it and the weekly weight loss will motivate you. I find most of the packs OK, but what works for me is I don't really think of them as food, but as a necessity to get my RDA of essential stuff. That way even if I am not hungry, I do have all 3 packs as I know my body needs them. Good luck and stay strong, the first few days are the worst and you seem to be ding really well. Use the support here if you have a difficult day coz that's when you will need to know you are not the only one and we are all here to support you.

Hi Taupe, congrats on a fantastic weight loss in such a short period of time. You must be delighted.

Glad its all going well x

Day 5 - down 7lbs!

After a weekend if dramas with my parents being here and driving me nuts I was soooooo tempted to say 'stuff it' and head for the crisps, wine and take away Chinese but I didn't!

Why is it stressful situations force some of us to eat, some to drink, some to shop or some into the arms of others (other options I am sure are available too!)

Is it learned habits as a kid? Genetic predispositioning? Hormones?

Who knows!

What I do know is that so far I have only had 3 exantediet meals since Thursday morning and I am loving it!

I am well into ketosis - in fact I had trace ketones on day two which was nice to see and it's really helped with my hunger/appetite suppression.

There was only 1 meal that I haven't been 100% -10/10 and that was 'Curry'.

I made curry for my family and then made my sachet. I am guessing it's supposed to be a Thai/Chinese style one or something - and even then it failed - it was unlike any curry I have ever had in my life! It smelt worse than it tasted... Kind of like a weird hot cardboard smell, but the taste was not awful. I added some garam masala and chilli and it was ok. I would say smell 4/10 and taste 7/10.

The others I have tried have all be brilliant considering they are all diet. I have tried:
Carbonara - half bubbled over in microwave which I was annoyed about!
Spaghetti bolognese
Chilli
Porridge
Shepherds pie
And the curry.

Anyway, I tried to resist jumping on the scales but it was necessary to combat the weekend of hell - I needed to see that staying strong had been worth it and it definitely had!!!

Hope you have all had similarly great weeks!

Well done for staying strong and for the 7lb loss in 5 days. Looks like you're going to have a great first week loss which is always hugely motivating.

Day 6 - Tuesday

Not been a bad week and looking forward to having my first week under my belt and seeing what the scales have to tell me on Thursday. Not long now!

I have a few major things coming up that could tip me over the edge...

On Thursday my son goes to California for a month. He's our only child and his nerves about it are freaking me out a little bit. He doesn't like flying and has never met the people who he is staying with in person, although he talks to their son loads on xbox. I am wondering if st 15 he is too young for it really, but there is no going back now! I hope missing him I don't get swept away...

I think it will be fine though - I mean I managed not to crack while I orders McDonald's for him and my hubby and drive home while they ate it in the car... I think that must qualify me with super powers as I love McDonald's fries!!

The other problem I have looming is a weeks all inclusive holiday in just under 2 weeks time.

I know I am not going to be good - but I will be trying not to go mad. The problem I am worried about is getting back on it when I get back, I am worried that I won't be able to face it.

I did Atkins for a while years back and then could never get back on it again.

Anyway, by that point it might be a good idea to have a little bit of fluid in my lap band and see if that helps in some way with the hunger - I still seem to get ravenous!

So, how did your week one weigh in go? Are you managing to stick to it?

Yeah great week - randomly thought I posted... But seems it didn't do it for whatever reason.

I lost just under 7lbs :) very happy!!

Had as an unavoidable day yesterday with my son going away and us all having brunch and junk sitting at the airport, but back on today. Not looking at the scales for a few days so I don't get disheartened!! Next weigh in is Thursday!!

Well done. That's really good. Glad to hear you're straight back on it after your airport blip. :)

Ok been on my holiday and put on all the weight I lost plus some :(

Hey ho - starting again in the morning.

Trying to think positive... It could be far worse if I hadn't lost the weight before I went!!!

I love the meals so know what to expect. Hopefully it will drop back off soon and I'll be cooking on gas again :)

Well that restart didn't go well, so third time lucky... Today went well. I ordered a months supply for me and one for my husband as I badgered him into doing it with me as I need the support. There is no way he will let me stop and fall off this wagon now as we have now spent a lot of money on the meal replacement for the next month and he wants to lose a couple of stone too. So here we go. Day one over.

Good luck. Hopefully it will be easier with the two of you doing it.

Thanks Cate. Day 2 down, and I think that the hardest days are behind us. Weekends are always tough, and when there's a weeks worth of telly to catch up with, it's too easy to indulge and slug out on the sofa ;)

So far so good.

Hope day 3 is going just as well Phat.

Good luck today xx

Day 4 today - doing good. Not hungry now in the mornings so ketosis has kicked in… only trace on the sticks tho but I am drinking a shed load of water :)
Feeling good and back in the zone. I am still not back to the 113.3 that I achieved last time on exante, but not far off… so not going to change it until I am lower!! I know that's cheeky but I need to beat it to boost myself.

Hubbie doing well too, although he had a MAJOR headache yesterday. So bad he had to go to bed! I haven't had any problems like that - before or now. Phew!!

He says its easier than any diet he has ever done before, which is BIIIIIGGGGG words for the guy!

So, happy Tuesday :)
