Happy to be starting Exante today.

Hello all! I am starting Exante today. Excited and ready to go. :)

Little bit of background - have been overweight and obese all my life, at my heaviest (aged 15) I weighed over 15 stone. I managed to get down to 12 stone by the time I was 18 and maintain that weight up until now (I'm 22), barring pregnancy where I gained 1.5 stone but lost that very quickly due to breastfeeding. :D I am currently 11 stone 3lbs after being on a health kick since beginning of March. However, the weight is coming off too slowly for my liking and I'd like it to move a little quicker as I'm back at work in September, so hoping to lose a couple of stone before then with Exante.

I am going to be doing a mix of the Total Solution/Total Plus (600-700cal) on weekdays and the Man Plan (800cal) on weekends.

I started my morning today with a vanilla shake...disgusting is the only word I can think of. I added coffee to it but barely helped. Almost gagged at the first few sips; it was so sickeningly sweet and artificial tasting, not to mention the texture was odd. Silky, as I've read some people describe it. However, I have just finished the spaghetti bol for my lunch and that was bloody delicious! Went ahead and ordered about 20 of those as I can see myself living off of them and being perfectly content. ;)

Am drinking lots of water and am not feeling hungry at all, although it's only mid-day of day 1 so I'm not expecting this to last. Tonight I plan on having double chocolate bar for dinner followed by plenty more water.

Bring on the next 3 months!

Well done on your start and good luck I'm on day 3 and I'm doing much better then I thought good luck xxx

This made me laugh. I really like the vanilla shake but I make it up with 600 mls water so it's much more diluted but still doesn't taste watery. You might want to try this. Alternatively, I use a teaspoon of it in my coffee as a whitener. I didn't like the idea of this but decided to give it a whirl and I really like it. I get about five coffees from one pack. But as I only drink 1-2 coffees a day, I don't count these couple of teaspoons in my daily allowance. I have them as extras. Just a couple of things you could try.

However, it might be that your taste buds are just completely different to mine as I've tried the spag bol and thought it was absolutely disgusting. It's the only meal that I wouldn't eat again, although I haven't found any of them to be that great.

Good luck with everything. :)

Thanks for the comments ladies, and I am going to try making the vanilla shake with lots of water to hopefully dilute the taste as you suggested TC :)

I ate my chocolate bar early as I was really intrigued as to whether it tasted like chocolate...it was a bit powdery tasting but I enjoyed it. Unfortunately as I had it at around 1pm I have nothing left for dinner now, was planning on doing TS today. But I'm going to have some asparagus for dinner later and do TS plus instead. Family are cooking toast chicken and roast potatoes, smells lovely but I'm not that tempted...looking forward to my asparagus actually. Managed to do 30 day shred workout, think I will do this a few times a week as my exercise.

Welcome to the forum Nesoi, hope today goes well for you. You may find your taste changes once the initial phase is over with.

Drinking plenty will help you stay on track & help with any headaches that you may get until ketosis sets in x

Day 2. I feel absolutely fine so far. No headaches, I drank so much water I was glued to the toilet all day. Definitely won't be able to keep this up past September as I work 13 hour shifts in a hospital, often without a break...who can hold their wee in for 13 hours!? So really determined to get to goal weight for then.

So far this morning I've had about 700ml of water, going to have a banana shake for breakfast once my son wakes up from his nap. Hope it tastes ok. I had my 3 packs yesterday and asparagus for dinner - watched my family eat a nice meal of chicken rice and potatoes and spoon fed my son cheesy pasta bake for his lunch...didn't falter once. In fact, I didn't even feel tempted to sneak a bite of anything. Not feeling hungry at all and quite liking this 'light' feeling in my tummy. :)

I am on TOTM - this may affect my weigh in results next week I'm guessing. Will try not
to be too disappointed if the loss isn't that great then.

The weeing does reduce. The first couple of days are the worst. Good that you haven't had headaches. Some people do seem to get bad symptoms in the early days but I've never had any problems. Feeling rough isn't a foregone conclusion by any means. Hopefully you'll sail through.

I ended up cheating by having an extra bar today. So I had banana shake for breakfast (was ok), red bean chilli for lunch (very very nice), a bar for dinner and then just had another bar now as I had a sweet tooth. I will have had around 80g of carbs today, meaning I miss another day towards ketosis. Feeling very guilty and annoyed with myself now.
