Fighting for My Health
Day 3

I'm in ketosis! Woohoo! :D

Such a relief to be back on track with weight loss. I haven't properly dieted in such a long time and my weight has reached an all time high! The most I've ever weighed before is 19st 13lb. I never quite managed to push that 20st barrier, and always stopped myself just before I got there. I faced the scales a couple of months ago though and saw I was just a touch over 20st, but for some reason just couldn't cut the addiction to food at that point. I suppose I knew in my mind that the New Year was just around the corner, and once again that is when I would give this dieting lark a really good try. The problem is, for me weight loss is easy enough, it's the keeping it off is the problem!

So, what's my motivation this time around? Mostly it's the fact that I'm almost 21 st! I am SO uncomfortable at this weight. Everything is such a huge effort. Just moving around is hard. I wake in the morning with aching muscles/joints and I know it's because my weight has crushed my body whilst I've slept. My quality of life has slipped dramatically and I can totally see how some people end up house ridden and unable to go anywhere. I cannot let that happen. I am almost 43 now, and it's time to get this sorted! In the past I've been super fit, healthy, etc. I'm going to get some (if not all) of that back.

Another huge motivation is that I am going abroad on holiday later this year, for the first time in 6 years. My husband and both of my children are slim and healthy and there is no way I can go like this! I would totally hold them all back on getting out and about. I want to be able to fit comfortably into the aeroplane seat. I want to feel confident in a swimsuit.

So, my mind is set. Whatever is supposed to click, has clicked and I am doing this! I have steely determination :)

Thanks Darcy. Fab weight loss you have so far. Well done :)

Good luck Jayne :)

Hi jayne. I totally know what you mean with regards to keeping the weight off. I go on a diet and then suddenly i fall off the wagon an pile it all back on! I have started a diary too and i am DETERMINED to stick to it! The support here is amazing, and hopefully it really will help. Good luck with your journey.

welcome to the forum Jayne and good luck. Posting regularly will help you stay on track x

evening jayne,

well done on day 3! so much you wrote rang true with me! I am nearly back at my heaviest and although I'm not weighing til tomorrow when I start I reckon it's about 22st ...... god that hurt just writing it! so it's on the diet with a right royal kick up the bum tomorrow.....my first goal is to get back to where i was 6 yrs ago before I met my hubby and had kids, 17st.
hopefully i'll achieve that before my hubby's birthday in july.

i need to get "me" back so out with the slobbing about and greedy slovenly behaviour and in with "thinking" and taking care of me for a change, i want my kids and hubby to be proud of me and see me take care of myself...and I want to get to see my kids as adults and not die young, thst is the thought I need to keep me on track!

Hey, thanks all for the replies/welcomes :) Wishing you all the very best of luck with your weight loss journeys. Will be checking out some of your diaries shortly :)

Day 5

Things are going great here :) It feels so different this time to all the other times I've times I've done a VLCD. I am not obsessing, which is definitely a first! I'm finding it relatively easy so far, although appreciate I have a marathon ahead of me! My hunger and appetite has totally gone. This has never happened to me with ketosis before. Ever! Usually I'd still get hungry and have to battle cravings for regular food. I enjoy the taste of the Exante packs, but am having to force myself to have them as I have no desire to eat. I have read other people saying the same in the past and never quite understood it as I have always been hanging out for my next one in times gone by. I know I must have them though to remain health on this diet. Am slightly regretting choosing the 4 pack a day plan now though lol (which of course I chose as going on past experience I always wanted more than the 3!).

Am looking forward to my first weigh in on Fri :)

Glad its all going so well. One of the things on my list for 2015 is to make sure I have all of the packs so that I dont end up adding some protein instead which then leads to nibbling. Seems to be working so far x

Welcome Jayne, it sounds like you're in the right frame of mind for complete success! I will look forward to the journey with you. I restart tomorrow, we are similar heights, weights, age and goal in mind. We can do it! Good luck.

Hi Jayne, welcome and good luck xx

Thanks all :)

Susie - Yep, definitely eating all packs will help with avoiding nibbling on protein. Glad all going well for you :)

Angel - Hope restart has gone well. I shall check up on your diary next ;) Good luck!

Day 7

Weigh in tomorrow. Excited! I can definitely feel a small difference in my clothes and am feeling well overall. I ordered some more Exante stuff through the week - did the 100 items for £80 (or whatever it was) as was able to add in things like chocco balls, hazelnut shakes, carbonara, bars, etc. Anyhow, a lot of that stuff is for 3 meals a day as opposed to the 4 a day my first bumper box was for. So now I have the option of doing a 3 meal or 4 meal a day plan, which is good :) I like that I have a good variety of stuff here to choose from and think that will help. I don't like any of the soups, but do like pretty much everything else in the range. I did also buy a couple of tubs of the water flavouring, but more for having occasionally than all the time. Generally I'm quite happy with water, green tea and coffee. I do miss fizzy stuff though, so have bought some sparkling water, and the water flavouring was quite nice in that. I like fizzy water by itself too though :) So, so far, so good. 100% on track. Week 1 almost done :)

Well done for getting through the first week and I'm sure the scales are going be amazing for you tomorrow!

Hi Jayne :)

Glad to find another restarter! Well done on finishing your 1st week, You're doing really well and i look forward to following your journey! Best of luck for WI tomorrow :D xxx

It sounds like you are definately in the zone as they say. I can't wait to see your first WI results. It's great you're not obsessing either as it will make it seem more of a way of life than a diet. I'm obsessed with the first two weeks then I try to chill and just relax about it.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow x

Makes things so much easier when there is a variety to choose from. Never tried the choco balls as I'd be scared I couldn't stop! X

Susie, the choco balls are palatable, but quite cardboard like and the smear of choc on them is so thin, you barely notice it lol. A little treat (half a pack as part of my allowed snack on Total Plus), and I am able to stop. I also tried the protein bites, and def half a pack is enough of those! Odd taste.
