So a little bit of background first. My best friend is getting married in November and I would really like to lose weight for it. I have the willpower of a 2 year old and my friend has lost a load of weight on it so I thought that this would be my best option. Here comes the however...........I am really struggling with the consistency and taste of the food packs and milkshakes and I don't know what I can do to make them taste better.

Ok, milkshakes first, I'm not sure if it's just me, I have a shaker with one of those ball thingys in it but I still get globs of unmixed powder and it's really putting me off. Can I use hot water to mix it and let it cool down? Am I able to add milk?

The porridge is basically the same its the globs that get me and it just needs a bit more oompf (i have the normal one and the apple and cinnamon one).

Now for the dinners, these are what I struggle with the most. I think that it's my mind set that I'm not really eating food and my psyche is yelling at me that this is not the way to go unless I can get more flavour and a better consistency to the meals.

Maybe the working solution may be a better bet for me?? Any advice??

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Happy slimming guys!!

Did you manage to get a shaker with a ball? Thats great! I hurt shake and shake and shake and shake!!! If at home I do it in blender with heaps of ice and the shakes are lovely!
As for the meals I have only tried spag Bol and mushroom risotto, hoping to change that tonight with a wee meal swapping sesh ?

I don't have a blender lol! I'm like the least kitchen gadgety person out there! I mean I only have like 4 pots and pans! Yep, I have spag bol, pasta carbonara, sheperds pie and red bean chilli for you :)

I add garlic power to the soups and the carbonara, sometimes I have the carbonara with a little bit of tuna (it helps tricks the brain a little bit if I'm chewing). The shakes I do in a blender but I have the same problem with the globs at work - I know you can get a whizzy whisk so I might try that, maybe that's something to look into? :) x

Hi Smiler!! Thanks for the tips!!! Not sure I'll be trying the carbonara again lol! But I will definitely try with the soups! I was looking at getting a strainer for my shakes cos that'll hopefully take care of the globs :) xx

I have a shaker with a ball. It works great for me. Tell me, do you put water in first, then powder? If you do it that way around when you shake you will get no globs. Always powder to water. I also mix mine with a small amount of cold water then top up with just off the boil water to make a hot shake. Tastes better to me. You can add coffee powder to the Vanilla and chocolate shakes, it makes a latte of sorts. Handy if you fancy a different flavour. You can add pepper or chilli powder to soups, this perks them up also, or garlic powder. Ultimately they are what they are! they are there to give you just enough to live on while you reach your goal. Price you have to pay.

I would recommend getting a cheap blender. I have to put the water in, put the lid on, turn the blender on and then trickle the shake powder through the hole in the lid. I leave it running while I put the packet in the bin. No clumps and very frothy. X
