    A bit of motivation

So , I joined this website and went around trying to encourage everyone else by telling them my favorite inspirational quotes, etc. I was almost to the end of day 3 100% TS and then I cracked. Social outings are the worst and I couldn't say no to a drink. The next day was a wash, too.

I am still finishing my LL packs so when I say 100% TS I really mean on LL but my exante order is arriving today. I am nervous to taste the shakes and bars for the first time- I really hope I can deal with them. I really had my head in the right place before but couldn't say no to a drink out with friends. I keep telling myself that I have had it all before and I will have it again.

Any motivation would be greatly appreciated! I hope you're all having better luck than me! xx

Hi Brie, please don't beat yourself up - it happens to us all and you just have to draw a line and start afresh!

I speak from bitter experience as I shamefully succumbed last night - baking for a good cause and took more than a little taste (if you know what I mean!) of course then the negativity started and it lead to a mini feast of naughty stuff.

BUT, I have my head screwed on again this morning and am going to stick to plan (tomorrow is an off-plan day for a fiends pre-arranged hen do, but come Sunday morning I will be 'shaking' again!)

As long as you keep positive and look to your future goal, you can do it!! Life will occasionally get in the way, but just keep trying xx

Thanks! It is nice to know I am not the only one! My husband just shakes his head at me and has stopped believing in me! I don't blame him as I have stopped and started like 5 times in the last month. I need to prove him wrong!

Good luck at your hen do- have fun! If ever it is ok to be naughty it is at a hen do

Hey guys. Not sure if it'll help you but I just decided to say no to it all. I decided that if I told myself a day off for this and a day off for that was OK, it would snow ball. I went to my sister-in-laws hen do and managed to abstain and to be honest, I had just as good a time. I thought I'd feel really left out but actually, by the time they were all drunk I just got carried along with it!

If you know you have one last thing then go for it but I've then jut said no to some social stuff or taken along a bar and some fizzy water so as not to be tempted!

    Good luck xox

I was considering my previous falls from grace yesterday on a dog walk and wondered what it was that made it hard to stay on track when I went to social events. What I think it came down to was failure to set ground rules and plan in advance how I was going to tackle the social event I was going to. In advance of the event when your head is clear - you can make rational and considered decisions that will allow you to both enjoy the event and still do damage llimitation, there is no point in getting there and making the decision - because already you will be caught up in the moment and likely blow up big time. I also prescribe to the thought process where I reject the 'one won't hurt' idea - because I know from bitter experience actually one does hurt ALOT!

I think you have to set a realistic goal for any social event - for example saying I am going to have a maximum of 2 drinks - but i'm going to drink vodka mixed with soda water rather than a glass of wine. You might say I am going to eat food - but I will only eat protein and vegetables/salad and i'm going to eat slowly and enjoy the atmosphere and conversation and I will definately stop when I am full.

I also think that we all need to redefine our reasons for going out socially - at the moment I would guess that most of us view going out as opportunities to eat and drink. Perhaps we could remove that focus and instead see it as opportunities to see friends, engage in fabulous conversation and share a great evening - with that in mind the food and drink becomes secondary and it being there doesn't make or break the event.

"Because of your impatience for a quick result you use methods that won't work," said Cai Tok.

Man is unique in placing time constraints on the results he wants in life and, in doing so, becomes restless, rather than still. It is far easier to be patient for something when the outcome of it is certain, because in our certainty, there is less room for anxiety.

Allowing the ego's demands, which are based on fear and impatience, dominate our thinking. It is the ego that insists on having what it wants now by convincing us how much is missing from our life. If its demands are not satisfied it convinces us how unfair life is to us - and conversely if we do satisfy our ego, it will furnish us with another set of demands tomorrow.

Become certain about outcomes whilst simultaneously become unconcerned as to when and how. Becoming internally driven instead of externally influenced means the ego has no influence over you.

also just as an addition to this thread - sometimes I think when we are loosing weight we think that we lack choice especially in social events and that mindset makes us feel deprived. But your choices remain the same as the other people you are socialising with - for example you and your friends both have the same choice to drink alcohol - they may choose to drink, you also can choose to drink but equally you can choose not to, choices we make should be made for our own benefit and we shouldn't assume that others are making good choices for themselves. This also extends to food choices that others make.

Now if I used this choice explanation to illustrate drugs or smoking - its easy to see how you have the same choice as another person to take drugs or smoke - if you choose not to, do you feel deprived when you see others smoking or taking drugs? the answer is probably no. Food and alcohol is no different, there is no deprivation if you choose not to partake in something because it is of no benefit to you.

Well ladies, you were both right with your advice! The snowball effect took hold and I now restart tomorrow

I totally prescribe to your argument regarding choice and in hindsight it would have been better to choose 'no' to the food/drink after all. However, I had a great time (although the evening wasn't as planned from the outset!) and whilst I have most likely delayed my goal by a week, I will draw a line and start afresh in the morning.

Whilst I hate Monday's and going back to work I do look forward to the routine that the working week will bring and the way the packs fit easily into everyday life - I do love weekends with my family, but I find weekends a particular challenge.

Best of luck to everyone xx
