    Alcohol help

    So I seen in the sticky that vodka or wine won't kick u out of ketosis. I know it can be dangerous so u need to be very careful with amount.
    I have a birthday party I have to go to. The arranged it around me to make sure I could go so I was thinking then it would be ok to go with either a bottle of wine and mix it with diet lemonade. Or watered down vodka and diet coke? For this one occasion in two weeks time

    If you're going to drink you need to get yourself out of ketosis.

    Alternatively just dont drink but for goodness sake don't drink if youre in ketosis

    Hi.. Its always better not to drink. If you knock yourself out of Ketosis first you will feel better the next day but will have to work hard again to get back into ketosis.. If you drink Vodka you will be out of ketosis while it is in your system but go straight back into ketosis after. Obviously you will need to drink with coke zero or some other mixer that does not knock you out of ketosis

    The last time I did a VLCD (long time ago) I'd stuck to it religiously for 3 months. I decided I'd treat myself to a night out with friends (and alcohol), so decided to have a normal healthy meal beforehand. I then drank 3 white wine spritzers over the course of the evening and was a drunk as a skunk! I'm so pleased I was careful because after being on a VLCD for a while my alcohol tolerance was so ridiculously low! I had a great night though, and got straight back on it the next day. But BE CAREFUL. Do not underestimate how much the alcohol might effect you xxx

    03/08/14 - 18st
    09/08/14 - 17st 4lb - 10lb
    16/08/14 - 16st 13lb - 5lb
    23/08/14 - 16st 9.5lb - 3.5lb
    30/08/14 - 16st 7.5lb - 2lb
    06/09/14 - 16st 7.5lb - STS so packed it in
    11/09/14 - Weight out of ketosis and off diet 16st 8lb. Epic fail.(+0.5lb)

    20/09/14 - HOLIDAY!! (Goal weight = 15st12lb)

    1st 6lb lost / 10 lb to go to holiday goal! - unable to achieve.

    Have you read the sticky about alcohol. Drinking in ketosis can make you very ill. A lot of people have had dreadful experiences. If you're having ANY alcohol you have to come out of ketosis

    Hi.. No I have not read the sticky.. Maybe I should! Where do I find it? I didn't intend to give anyone the wrong advice.. I just remembered from the Atkins diet books that you can drink vodka and not knock yourself out of Ketosis..

    But that's the whole point you shouldn't be drinking alcohol when you're in ketosis on a vlcd

    As I said I don't intend to give anyone bad advice about drinking on a Ketogenic diet.. I was just telling someone that had asked that whilst on a Ketogenic diet you can drink alcohol and stay in Ketosis. After your comments I have been made aware that this is maybe not safe. I was just passing on factual information

    Hi.. I have managed to get into the zone again.. I'm on day four.. Have read the sticky on alcohol this time and now realise quite how dangerous it can be.. I will definatly be steering clear!
