Raspberry porridge

Raspberry porridge... BLERGH!

First lot was lumpy and curdled and really disgusting.
Today I tried it again and stirred it every 30 seconds but it still was a bit curdled and had a horrible texture!

This is the first exante mix I've hated.. I ordered 10 of the bloody things so I have another 8 to eat. YEUCH!!

Their other porridge mixes are nice. Anyone got any suggestions on how to improve these raspberry ones (other than throwing them in the bin hahah)

I hear you!

I ordered 10 too. Did it in a pan as I had seen someone suggest it. The texture was strange. Like dodgy scrambled egg. Took me ages to eat lol

It was the only one I've had so far that I couldn't eat...I threw it away. And the other 3 in my bundle. I don't like some of the others but that was by far the worst!

It was the worst so far for sure!

I had it this morning, wasn't lumpy it was like baby rice - really smooth, ok but thought the curry last night was grim lol

Mine was smooth. That was what I was gagging over lol. The texture was wrong in my mouth lol

Yeah is a bit weird lol. I did enjoy the maple pancakes yesterday for breakfast tho. Curry was rank!
Spag Bol carbonara or shepards pie tonight never had either as only day 2 I hope they are ok??

Curry I added flavours to. Made it nice. Spaghetti bolognese definitely needs herbs and a pinch of salt. I add bits to shepherds pie. But it's the most palatable straight off.

I haven't tried the carbonara yet x

I've just started exante - thought I'd give it a go. I hate the curry flavour - yuk. Any tips on improving it would be gratefully received! The raspberry porridge is more miss than hit but I can handle it. Likewise the blueberry pancakes - odd taste in the same sense as the raspberry flavouring. I don't like the carbonara at all but am trying to think of ways to revv it up.

I like the lemon bars. A bit salty but not bad at all. The chocolate bars are okay-texture a bit squishy. The wee fake maltesers are nice but the centre lets down the coating! Not keen on the tomato and basil soup. I always prefer soups, porridges and bars to shakes but the vanilla shake is nice. My absolute favourite at this stage is the chocolate pudding. BLISS! Highly recommended, but don't give it the full microwave time quoted. 50 seconds is better for the lovely warm chocolate sauce centre.

The important thing for me is to have access to a nutrititious meal replacement diet that doesn't cost a weeks' income LOL. And I can't be doing with going to 'group therapy' meetings or to someone's house to be weighed. Like a lot of Mums at home I prefer to do my own thing. Unless you are being supervised in a lock-up centre (!) all diets come down to the same thing - you go home and get on with it.

So far I like exante a lot. Last summer I was 15stone. Having been bed-bound for months due to severe back pain I braved the scales recently and was nearly 17stone. HELP! With a bit of low-carbing and nine days of exante I am now 15st 13lb. So I am delighted. The important thing now for all of us is to keep at it, and not lose heart on the days we fall off the wagon. Just climb back on again. Good luck everyone x

Exante does have more carbs and more calories than Cambridge but it is so much cheaper and the portions (understandably given the extra carbs/calories) are slightly more generous. Money is tight now and exante 'offers' make it by far the better value option.

I think that's the reason I've managed to stick to Exante longer...I've only been on it two weeks but I haven't made it this far on any other vlcd...I can only assume it's at least in part due to a few more cals and carbs :)

Hiya

Loved your pose serialslimmer. And well done on your fantastic loss.

I added balti curry powder, salt, pepper and garlic powder to my curry and loved it like that lol

Just made porridge into cakes. Got the idea on a group. Much nicer!

Ohhhh how u make them??
I added everything to my curry and it was still rank. Gonna make crisps from the packets I have left. :)
I add something to everyone of the meals so it's more to my taste. All a bit bland and baby food otherwise.
I've used water pasta which is 0 carb 0 fat and only 14 calories for the whole pack to bulk up the meal.
They are odd texture bit rubbery but the baby food texture makes me gag!!!

I'm gunna see if the raspberry porridge will make some cookies. I can't face it as porridge again - it was like curdled milk. Blergh. I wouldn't mind so much if I got it to be smooth maybe.

I didn't think the curry was that awful.

I don't think any of the new flavours of exante are as nice as the old ones.

I loved the curry when I flavoured it. I flavour all meals while they are soaking.

With the porridge you add water (not a lot) a mix until it is soft. I am told if you make it runny with a egg white added, you can make pancakes too.

I put mine in a silicone tray and baked on gas mark 5-6 for about 12 mins. But checked a couple of times x

I may just try that pancake idea. Thanks! :)

EWWWW those darn shiritaki noodles. I bought tons of 'em. Yuk and double yuk. The lasagna 'sheets' are inedible -and came all twisted in the pack. 95% of the resulting low carb lasagna ended up in the bin. The noodles and spaghetti I can bear if nuked again and again until dry and then drowned in melted cheese. I tried them with the exante curry (and had added a ton of hopeful taste improvers) but no joy. Not yet anyway and the texture of the noodles made me want to heave.

I only use the pasta. Don't like the noodles either. If u rinse well they taste of nothing. I added mine to a spag Bol pack. Just bulked it up. :)
