Hi there

I am considering making a switch to calorie counting after a failed attempt at Atkins :( I lost half a stone on Atkins but found it made me feel ill :( I think it's because I kept breaking the rules then I would go through "Atkins flu" over and over again! I have already ate carbs today cos I felt so sick & dizzy :(
Does anyone have experience switching from Atkins?? I am worried that half a stone might come back on fast when I start eating carbs again while on cc??
Thanks in advance for any help & advice x

Hello,

I am going on Holiday in a week with my Mum. I've been on the Cambridge diet for the last 7 weeks, and while my Mum is supportive of that, she's said she's not prepared to eat alone. Which is fair enough. And I know that my will power will only stretch so far. I wouldn't be able to sit with a shake while Mum has wine and food etc.

So my plan is to stick below 1500 calories in order to limit how much weight I put on while I'm away...but I'm a little worried about estimating restaurant food. I mean, I will take a mini calorie book with me, but who knows how much oil etc has been used in the cooking process? Or how much pasta they've given you...etc etc etc. And I know the simplest answer would be to eat nothing but grilled chicken and lettuce leaves at every meal, but I'm on holiday and I'd like to be able to enjoy 1 ice cream on the beach, or a cocktail, or whatever! But I don't want to go too overboard...

Anyone got any advice or suggestions?

Thank you!!

I know it's basically CCing, but love the feature that it plans my meals and sends them straight to tesco. As I own a bakery I have very little time to eat, plan or shop so it's perfect. I was just wondering if anyone else was using it or doing it?

I am going on a low calorie diet around 1000-1200 :sigh: i have been reading up a lot on the 300-400 calorie diet which was my original plan but i have changed my mind (luck really from what i read) i have 2 weeks before myself and my girlfriend start travelling again i can't however find a good diet. it really needs to focus on 2 main factors
1) i am veggie so NO meat or fish
2) i like to snack some very low calorie snack advice would be great :D

i don't intend to do this diet after the 2 weeks ( unless it is possible which i doubt)

anyone care to advise i need something simple that i can stick to i will be back on tomorrow morning to put up a starting weight and every morning after that to update how it all goes

Hello all! Thought I would come and post over here and say hello. I have been on minimins for 5 years now, though have only finally found success...

Hello all! Thought I would come and post over here and say hello. I have been on minimins for 5 years now, though have only finally found success this year. I have lost 90lb this year with Cambridge, but am still another 4-6stone from my target weight.

I love Cambridge and it works well for me, however I have had to come off it for a little while. I am due to have surgery on my elbow on 23rd May, and can't use a VLCD in the run up to this or in the first few weeks afterwards (have been told 4-12 weeks, am waiting for the official word from Cambridge as to how long it will be).

Having worked so hard this year, I am terrified of piling the weight back on that I have lost. I had originally planned to follow Atkins style eating whilst I was in recovery, however I have a bit of a grumpy gallbladder, and grumpy gallbladders are not overly compatible with an Atkins lifestyle at this time! Therefore I have had a think, and my new plan is calorie counting. I am looking at 1200cals (have been living on 450-800ish with the VLCD) which is what I really need to be eating prior to surgery. I am also planning on staying low carb, as well as low fat. Having eaten relatively cleanly (other, you may argue, than the chemical wonders that are cambridge products) this year so far, I plan to keep that going too, trying to avoid overly processed foods where possible!!!

I understand MFP is the place to track calorie/carb/fat intake, but am happy to be corrected if anyone has a better idea? Having eaten such a restricted diet with restricted options quite happily for so long, my day to day menu is unlikely to vary too much, and I am more than happy with that.

So my rough plan is:

Breakfast (am ish):
Cambridge product 150cals (I have nearly 2 weeks worth at the moment and actually enjoy them!)

Lunch (12-1ish)
300cal meal - chicken and salad probably!

Snack (4pm ish)
Cambridge product 150cals

Dinner (7pm ish)
600cal meal - 4 egg omelette with mushrooms and salad, or a huge chicken stirfry (no noodles/rice)

Yeah it's not very exciting, but it looks good to me! Also gives me the flexibility to have a bigger meal at lunch time and take the calories off the evening meal.

Does this look ok?

Hey everyone!
I used this board before my surprise pregnancy and was losing weight gained during my first pregnancy. Fell pregnant again and off the wagon!
i gained 2 stone during the pregnancy, one of which melted away in the two weeks after I had my baby. I started watching what I was eating straight away, anyway that no longer seems to be working as I've sts for 3 weeks now despite eating what I'd consider to be reasonably healthy.
Gunna go back to basics as of Monday and start counting calories and weighing portions etc.
Not gunna weigh in until Monday morning but just wanted to reintroduce myself!

Hi there every1,
i'm very new to this forum so please bare with me.
I'm currently at the end of week 2 of my calorie counting diet and am yet to see any weight loss :-( I've been using an app on my phone called "fitness pal" which I thought was great for helping me count every calorie but now I'm doubting the app and everything I'm doing. I've set a limit of 1200 net calories after exercise too and to be honest it has been quite difficult but I've kept going as I'm desperate to loose a stone at least before my holiday in July. Can any body offer me any tips or tell me that not loosing weight in the early stages is normal?? Just anything to keep me on the band wagon!! Thanks meggiemoo xx

Hi, im just looking for some support and advice. 4 weeks ago i was on here, talking about counting calories etc but feeling fairly positive. Since then I have binged for 4 weeks and gained a stone. I am literally beside myself. I feel horrific, I look awful and I am a complete mess emotionally. I don't know how to get out of this. This gym makes me cry because my fitness is dead. Iv gained pure fat and i hate my reflection. I have no control. Im now back on AD's and iv asked for help for my binging from my doctor but referrals take time and I need to stop this NOW. I feel like I have nothing left and just want to curl up and hide.

Basically, it tracks your every move and can be linked with an app on your phone, MFP, etc.

It's meant to give really accurate readings, and improve the quality of every aspect of your life: sleep, exercise, eating, emotions, etc.

It looks amazing, and at £99.99 I'm tempted to get one!
Iv been calorie counting for a while and have lost almost 4 stones doing so :)

Im in a dilemma with finding things to eat at work on my lunch breaks, when ur on restricted calories it really limits the stuff you can eat and for almost every single lunch break at work iv been having the saaaammmmme meal and its doing my head in now lol ..

..I need ideas for things I can easily prepare on my lunch breaks. In our staffroom, the only appliances we have are a kettle and a microwave. I had the idea of sandwich fillings but after looking on the tesco website, the majority of them have mayo, fish and egg which im allergic to!

My lunch is usually around 200cals and would like it to stay around there but cannot for the life of me think of anything new to either take to work with me or prepare at work!

Any ideas would be much appreciated! (Oh, and I absolutely HATE soup lol just before anyone suggests it lol)

Thanks in advance guys!

Hi,

So I'm just wondering whether I'm having the right amount of calories; I followed the guide done by 'Fattack' that is sticky'd in this forum, but I have a few questions.

My bmi is 43.4
My bmr is 2090.25

If I multiply my bmr x 1.2 I get = 2612.8125 (Which should be the number of calories I should be consuming per day, to maintain my weight - without any exercise.)

Next, to lose 2lb a week, I must subtract 1000 off this value per day, meaning my daily limit should be 1612.8125.

My only question is, is that if I do exercise say 4 days a week, on these days do I consume the calories I burnt? I understand that consuming too few calories can mean the break down of muscle which is obviously not good long term.

So say on Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs I burn 500 calories in the gym, do I then consume these on top? Giving me a daily consumption of 2112 on these days?

This is what I've been doing for the last week, and my scales say I've put on weight  ( but, if you look at my diary you'll see my worries about my floor at uni being uneven or what not, because in the first week with different scales at home, they showed I had lost 5lb ).

Thanks for any help :)

I'm a 19 year old girl and I'm currently eating around 1200 calories a day.

I don't feel that I'm starving myself on this figure, but whenever I read around online, I've read that it's not healthy, so I'm not sure?

I try to go to the gym 3 times a week, but in reality, I only really go once or twice...

Would it be more sensible to start eating, say, 1500 calories a day? Or will that make me gain weight?

I lost 4 and a half stone on slimming world. Changed my life. I lost a few more lbs calorie counting after I plateaued for ages. So now I'm just using my fitness pal to stick to 1300 cals a day and going to the gym (curves) 3 or 4 times a week as I desperately want to tone it more than lose weight.

Anyone else find the final hurdle the hardest bit?? Xx

On Wednesday, it's my University's varsity. I've got a load of cans of cocktails and cider and stuff to take with me and I've decided that I'm just not gonna calorie count on that day. If I drink, say, 10 cans of cider, will my diet be completely ruined and will I definitely have a gain that week, or can it be saved when I start being good the next day?

I really want to drink for varsity, but I don't want to jeopardise my diet in the process.

Also, please don't say have diet drinks with vodka because I clearly can't take that to a rugby match...
