been going to doctors with what I thought was ovarian cyst for months, finally they did vaginal swabs telling me if there was prob id get a letter for scan and if ok wouldn't hear back - this was just over week ago

thought as a week had passed all was ok, then received letter this morning asking me to attend a vaginal/pelvic scan in 10 days time .. worried sick could be something sinister

are they able to tell if you have a cyst from a vaginal swab (thought strange that doctor ordered this) or have they found something more sinister, everyone keeps telling if was cancer theyd have fast tracked me .. scared stiff now

Hi there,

I was diagnosed via blood tests in 2010 with PCOS but at the time the GP told me I basically had to live with it. I was a student at the time and didn't think much of it. My cycles were erratic and i have the dreaded facial hair! After loosing a stone my cycles became regular again and I thought maybe the PCOS had resolved itself.

However, hubs and I have been trying for a baby since last October and no joy. I have not put the weight back on so it can't be that. My cycles had settled down but in January they became erratic again. I went to the Dr and she said to come back in a few months if cycles were still odd. They are so I am going back tomorrow to see what they can do to help. I have started on Weight watchers as I am overweight and know they will tell me to try to loose weight.

I have beeen reading that people were given ultrasounds and metformin when diagnosed.

What is your experience? Did you have to ask for medications and ultrasounds? How helpful or otherwise was your GP?

I have moved since my original diagnosis and have a new GP who seems very nice.

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I am not sure if this is already a topic but I couldn't find anything
Has anyone with PCOS tried a VLCD diet I have been raiding the internet trying to find information I feel like I have searched every other avenue now the doctor has offered me a referral for a gastric band but I desperately want to avoid this!

I have been TTC for a number of years now with no luck but i can't go through ivf or be given any tablets until I reduce my BMI so this is my last chance now

I just wanted to see if anyone else has had much luck with them

I read on a forum someone having 2 slim fasts and a chunky veg soup a day with plenty of water and was looking into giving this a go but don't want to make myself ill so hoping for any advice :)

Hello Lovely ladies,
quick intro I'm Kelly and was diagnosed with PCOS at theage of 25, I've had numerous treatments and medication. It all came to a head last February when we had our first cycle of iui, which was negative. It was then decided that we would postpone treatment as i struggled with the hornmones. So i threw myself into the gym and healthy eating. I founf out I was pregnant on the 20th August 2012. It can be done and with us i think it was because we relaxed. So it can hppen!!

positive thinking x :)

Hi everyone,

I've already done and introduction post a few weeks back but just seen this section. Just wanted to say I was diagnosed November 2011 with PCOS after a battle with my doctor to get blood tests and an ultrasound. I had been trying for a baby for 2 years beforehand and my cycles weren't as long as some peoples who suffer and my doctor said I wasn't hairy enough! (I wax and thread so it's not obvious on my face but at the same time I don't have extreme hair either).
I had lost 3 1/2 stone leading up to my diagnoses using MFP & exercise.
I had my first 28 day cycle in the November and then had a long cycle in December....mid January and I still hadn't come to an end of that cycle due to being pregnant!!! I had only been on metformin for 2 weeks prior so was told to stop that.

But just wanted to say it is possible to lose weight and it is possible to fall pregnant naturally or with some help. I was sent away from my ultrasound saying well you might get pregnant...heres a help sheet! I spent Christmas 2011 so sad and gutted. I didn't know xmas eve I had conceived.

I now have a 8 month old daughter called Evie and it really is possible! I've now got to lose some more weight as I put it all back on during pregnancy. It's a lot tougher with a young baby BUT I'm now following SW as MFP I'm constantly hungry now. I've not lost much yet but I'll be trying to become a regular on this forum so I hope to see lots of fellow PCOS ladies falling pregnant :)

About 4 years ago I was rushed into hospital with appendicitis, whilst the surgeons where operating they discovered cysts I was then sent for a scan and was diagnosed with pcos, I was then sent to a specialist a few months later. Funnily enough at the time I was 6 weeks pregnant, I conceived without even trying and can remember the nurse saying something about after you have a baby you no longer have PCOS? Sadly I miscarried, not sure whether it had anything to do with pcos and at the time I didn't ask. I fell pregnant again a couple of months later after only 4 weeks of trying, I gave birth in 2010. Does this mean I no longer have pcos? I've never seen anyone else about it and its never been mentioned since. I don't have too much trouble loosing weight but seem to gain weight rapidly, and I'm wondering if the 2 are related?
