Is it just me or does anyone else turn weight-loss into a big game/challenge. I design spreadsheets at work all day so obviously I use my skills to my advantage. Starting to think it's only me doing this.

The attachment was my plan to lose 6stones from May to December (8 months) and I'm currently 7 lbs in front of my target.

I know the Slimming World site shows your progress but to me the plan/target is important too.

Would be happy to give my spreadsheet to anyone who thinks that this may help in their weight-loss endeavors.

Can also see how this could become detrimental to your efforts too, but it helps me to stay motivated and on target.<img src="http://www.minimins.com/attachments/general-weight-loss-discussion/95702d1371073377t-treat-weight-loss-game-week6.pdf" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version.

My current BMI is 27 down from nearly 51. Yes I had to get new clothes, yes I still have weight to lose but I still feel fat. I look in the mirror and I see no difference. Others have commented but I don't see it. I used to hate having my picture taken as I was so fat, but I still feel that way. I am considering losing more if I can when I get to my goal BMI of 25 as I know others have goals less than that. But my weight loss has slowed, I am still losing but I am worried I will always feel and look fat. And I wont get under once I do reach my current goal, that I will always be this way.

I have health issues both with PCOS and thyroid cancer which I am sure affect my mood and I know my weight loss. But I have tried not to use them as excuses. I remember thinking when I first started this, I would feel so much better when my BMI was below 30 but it was a long way off. Well I got there and I think how fat I look. It is so depressing. I have a big build and my dr said I could easily be in the upper ideal BMI section or a little above and in her view be healthy (weight wise). She was amazed I managed to lose so much considering my thyroid levels (controlled by drugs as my entire thyroid was removed) have not settled, still having underactive symptoms and still in treatment (sadly it has gone into my lymph nodes). Many on my treatment gain, some with thyroid cancer lose but it depends on the treatment you need. Mine tends to be one you gain on.

But its all getting me down. Being ill is part of it. But feeling so overweight is also there. I feel like a failure and ashamed of my body :( I broke up from my ex last year when I was much bigger but the thought of anyone seeing my body terrifies me. Anyone else who has lost weight feel this way?

Sorry for rambling

I hide what I eat from my partner and last week he had a week of work and instead of enjoying our time together I spent the time worrying that I couldn't go to the shop to get what I wanted and thinking of excuses of why I could be nipping out! I know how pathetic that sounds and actually how pathetic I am :-( ill put the wrappers straight in the outside bin so he doesn't see them and am even getting to embarrassed to go to the local shop as I always buy so much junk when I'm there. Anyone got any tips to help me?

Hi there!

Hi there!

I wanted to ask for advice from people who have successfully managed to lose and keep down their weight. I am current 5ft2inches tall and I weigh between 130 - 132 lbs (I used to weight 140 lbs but have lost about 8lbs for about a month now!) and I want to weigh 120 - 122 lbs, which is a good weight for me. I know I sound light but as I am so short I don't carry it well at all! I particularly have very wobbly thighs and small love handles which I want to get rid of.

I eat a healthy diet but I think I still over-eat too much. Can someone please look at a typical day for me and tell me if they agree? What can I do to help lose those extra pounds? Am I having too many carbs/proteins/fats? Do I need to start an exercize regime to lose weight? I am a vegetarian by the way.

Breakfast: Either one slice of toast or a bowl of oats, fresh fruit, seeds, nuts and oat milk with hemp oil and linseed.
Lunch: Something like toast with poached egg, spinach and goats cheese or beans on toast with vegetarian sausages.
Dinner: Either a heavy-veg meal like root veg curry or roast dinner, or a big salad with lots of bits like tomato, sprouts, cucumber, etc. with maybe a pasty or potato salad or a quorn fillet.
Dessert: About twice a week we have something like cake or fruit crumble, I try and got with low calorie fruit crumbles but sometimes we have naughtier treats and sometimes we just have a fruit salad.
Supper: We don't always have supper, but when we do we often have fruit salad or maybe a packet of crisps or we share a chocolate bar between two or three of us. We probably have supper about twice a week?

Currently I have an active job (6 - 12 hours on my feet doing elderly care which involves lots of walking about and domestic chores and loooots of stairs) which I work about 2 - 5 days a week. Sometimes I have a light snack at work but I often fast for work hours. I also garden a couple times a week, do the household chores, the occassional walk or swim and I go out dancing a couple times a month.
I have considered doing weekly yoga but that probably won't help with weight loss. Any other suggestions? I will probably still try to take up doing yoga but I am open to any good ideas. I am also gonna try and get a bike and hopefully start kayacking in july.

I have had a light bulb moment today - was doing beautifully on my diet until last night when I went mad eating alpen bars (I think I had 8 :o). I am trying a very low sugar and refined carbs diet but am allowing myself butter and cream and fat on meat. Until yesterday it had been fairly easy - I am only a week and a half in so there is the novelty value so I may be speaking too soon.

Anyway I am getting to that time of the month where the diet always goes a bit pear shaped so I googled it and found this article:

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...ying-your-diet

I am wondering if I should change my diet for one week in four to a low fat and higher carb diet. It would be a change which is as good as a rest so might be motivating and actually it would stop me from trying to swim up stream with all the carb cravings I have.

Or do you think I just need more will power if if I had no carbs at all I would never miss them?

Has anyone actually had success with maintaining (specifically after Cambridge?)

I'm so ridiculously scared about piling all the weight I have lost back on - 6 stone - and I keep on reading forums trying to find at least one successful maintainer!! :-(

Anyone got any experience of going up the steps on Cambridge and their weight loss/maintaining?

Currently this is how my losses have panned out...

Cambridge SS - 15 weeks - lost 61lbs
Cambridge 810 - 8 weeks - lost 7lbs
Cambridge 1000 - 5 weeks - lost 9lbs
Cambridge 1200 - 3 weeks - lost 5lbs

I am now on Cambridge 1500 and am yet to weigh in (Monday).

Is the time spent on each step long enough for me to maintain? Has anyone else got their times spent on each step and their losses?

Most importantly - has anyone been successful at maintaining? I'm so scared of gaining weight!!! :-( I calorie count everything down to the last gram...

Iv asked them all!!

I thought I'd start a thread as I'm now on my way through stabilisation after loosing 6 stone through Cambridge...

I always had strange questions that I didn't want to ask face to face and people who weren't going through weight loss wouldn't understand...

So I thought I'd start this thread so people can drop in and ask away and hopefully iv already asked it and may be able to shed some light / encouragement!!

From diet advice to toilet habits or body/mind changes to other peoples reactions... Ask away and hopefully we can help other people who don't want to ask!!

Hi all I am going to the doctors this week to find out something I have wanted to know for about 10 years. I'm 23 years old 21.8 stone 6ft 3 male. I have large male breasts and want to know is it gynecomastia or just fat. I can't wear t-shirts or anything yet I see men who are bigger then me and seem to have a reasonably flat chest. My actual nipple seems large as welI just wanted to know is there anyway of checking. Thanks

I have just joined this forum after hitting 17 stone and deciding that has to be the line.

Reading some posts with BMI targets, I thought I would update mine. It's 41 - which is now in the morbidly obese range. I am in shock.

Looked this up - it's 10 years off my life. That's horrifying. Feel really bad that I've let it get this far.

On the plus side - it may be the best motivation I have ever had. I might change my targets to be based on BMI instead.

Hello everyone

I was hoping that as many people as poss could help me with this....

I need to slim down to a size 16 to fit into a bridesmaid dress. (I am 5ft 9 and an inverted triangle ie broad / top heavy) it's been so long since I was a size 16 that I'm finding it difficult deciding what weight to aim for.

If any of you know what weight you were/are as a size 16 (and your height / body shape etc) that would really help me.

Many many thanks :) x

I'm not on a specific diet, i've just been eating three small meals a day and if i eat snacks, it's usually a bit of fruit or a cup of tea.
I would manage fine with this if it wasn't for the hunger pains that make me feel like i've not eaten in DAYS! I've tried drinking a glass of water to fill my stomach.... i'm so tempted to eat something small to get rid of them but that means more calories.... and i'll feel guilty....

Maybe there is no solution.... maybe my stomach will shrink on the inside, eventually...

Will you lose weight just as quickly on a low carb diet as you would on a VLCD (with meal replacements)?

I'm on a VLCD and notice that my meal replacements equal a very low carb diet. Sometimes I miss 'real food', esp meat, so wondered if I'd lose just as much weight on a low carb diet? (just for a few weeks before joining WW for a more sensible, healthy diet)

Has anyone tried both and can compare??

I've been on a low carb, low fat diet for about a month now. I've been surviving on Special K for breakfast, a variety of salads for lunch and lean meats/fish and lots of veggies for dinner. Overall I've lost about 8lbs which is good considering it has taken me from a size 10 to a size 8. I want to maintain this weight however and maybe loose a little more. So far everything about my diet is manageable and I have so much more energy but I need help when it comes to snacking. I want to swap that chocolate biscuit out for something healthier that satisfies my sweet tooth. Anyone have any ideas they've tried that work? Also I'm aware that Special K doesn't seem as good for you as it first appears so some yummy breakfast tips would be great too. Please bear in mind I'm not eating any bread and I don't like eggs (I'm fussy haha) TIA x

Hello :)

Im looking to lose my tummy basically :p as it is getting out of control when I used to be 60kg-70kg. Im around 85kg-90kg (even more maybe).

I was wondering if there is a meat only, pasta only or meat/pasta mix diet to lose the tummy. I dont mind losing weight or not, I just want that small globe above my waist to slightly go away :P

My job is a 9am to 6pm and I do not eat at home. Dinner at home is limited but if I have to change, I will change it. Lunch is pretty much what it is. I have no time to exercise at all.

I have never snacked between meals at all.

So what diets are out there that fit meat only, pasta only or meat/pasta mix?

Thanks a lot.
