Now we all know that CWP works, I am living proof of it! But as I bring myself closer and closer to goal, my losses are becoming sporadic, unpredictable and really hard to maintain a predictable loss. Of course, with less than a stone (just over 6kg) to go until my personal target, I just want to get there, and as with the last 5 months would like it if I knew exactly how much I might loose, for how long and when I will get there, but this is my problem, my guess is as good as that of my dog lily!

I have recently changes from SS to SS+ since I was finding I was feeling week at times, and knew it was time for a few more calories, it's difficult to tell if my losses have been affected by this or not since they are becoming so random - a 2lb loss followed by a 3.5lb loss, and my scales telling me I might even be lucky to get 1.5lbs this week right now. This leads me to think... What can I change, what can I do better, how can I help myself? The I start reading about diets, and this is where the confusion starts! That lovely little iPhone app everyone uses tells me in 5 weeks time I basically won't have reached the weight I want to be! BUT I don't believe it. I have no idea what the calculation is based on, but never the less it still makes me worry.

So the basic theory it's that to burn 1lb of fat 3500 calories need to be burnt. Straight up this theory is quashed in this radio clip....

http://youtu.be/djGCQ9b7mHo

Which makes me ponder, is CWP successful due to the calorie restriction or the fact it is low carb - therefore ketogenic? What does it mean for a low calorie diet if someone is also in ketosis- will the losses be greater? When stepping up e steps it gradually becomes more of a calories controlled diet, my question is, does this work? I eventually plan to use 5:2 with cambridge products on the 2 days to maintain, for that I would also question; is that successful because of the calorie restriction overthe week as a whole or more so because of the way it is done ie: shocking the body 2 days a week with a minimal intake, fasting as such?

It all concerns me tremendously since I really want to be clued up so that when I enter maintenance I can give myself the best possible chance of being successful. The scariest thing is the HUGE amount of different diets out there which all contradict each other, yet all seem to work! Before CWPC I was loosing weight using slimming world extra easy - I basically lived on carbs since pasta and rice were allowed in unlimited quantities, yet still lost weight - I dread to think how many calories I was consuming daily then - on a diet which adheres to neither of the above two mentioned ideas or calorie restriction or low carb?

Humans are all unique right, DNA, could it be that there isn't a one solution fits all diet? I mean there's people out there who can live on fast food and maintain a size 8 figure right? Or there's people like my mums side of the family who are naturally larger human beings, My grandad bless him had giant ears and other features, and massive feet and hands, a big frame and until his last years the fat to cover it all as well. My mum is similar, and myself having always been overweight since a young age the same too... Now that I am smaller I am finding these things like a massive pelvis which is certainly not designed to house a petite figure!

Maybe that is the answer, that as much of a pig as it sounds, we all need to find out own diets, of course use fab things like CWP to get where you need to be but ongoing, we need to figure it out for ourselves. Trial and error- a whole lotta hard work! I have friends who have told me this before but I took no notice, but now it makes more sense. One told me she limits wheat based products, another that she rarely has sugar.

We could keep it basic to the "eat less, move more" theory, but that's when equivalent calories come into play - of course a 250kcal meal of grilled chicken and green veg is going to better for you than a 250kcal choc bar, which again kills the whole calorie idea! If I went on a 1200kcal diet and ate proteins and veg, surely I would loose more weight than if I had 1200kcal of chocolate? Doesn't that just throw calorie counting out of the window?

Raaaa, what a minefield, if you read this far...well done! Haha, just needed to share my musings, and of course half of this may be inaccurate - I'm no dietician, but it's all from my personal experience and research, I'm interested to hear other people's ideas and theories are!

Hey there.

I've been on sole source + for a week now, I have lost about 7lb so feeling really positive. I'm going out tonight for a bday party and was just wondering what I can drink. I'm not too bothered about drinking alcohol, but I'm wondering what soft drinks will be ok, and if spirits such as vodka or gin will affect my loss. Not sure if I'm ketotic yet, although I understand the risks of drinking in ketosis. However just want to have one or two just be sociable really.

Help!!:help2: And yes, I'm sorry, I need to rant! :rant2:

This is my 7th week on Sole Source and I'm struggling to stay motivated...:raincloud:

I'm bored, fed up, and downright upset at my last two weeks lack of weight loss.

If this diet doesn't work for me, what will?? I'm on 612 calories a day...how can I not be losing weight????? :argh:

I've been so proud of myself for sticking with it. I've never stuck with anything in my life. I have never been thin in my life!! I went up a dress size with each age...I was a size 14 at age 14, a size 16 at age 16, a size 18 at age 18 etc. So I was so so so thrilled and excited that something had finally clicked in my brain, and that I was sticking to a diet that meant I could (in the not tooooooooo distant future) be thin!! So imagine my absolute devestation when I have lost 1lb in two weeks!!!! 1lb ?????? :banghead:

My weigh in is on a Monday, so I've been holding myself back from getting on my home scales all week. I finally succumbed today (it was either that or EAT!) and I AM EXACTLY THE SAME!! I haven't lost anything??????

What do I do?? Because I am seriously struggling to find a way to stop myself from going SOD THIS!

:sign0009: Please help...

So I managed to lose over 6 stone in 19 weeks - currently on sabbatical from Cambridge as I have surgery next week. Unfortunately it looks like I have picked up some unwanted lodgers in the way of gallstones :(

I have had 5 attacks now - 3 in the past week since stopping Cambridge, the worst being this morning. I have had to increase food intake before surgery, and I have had a couple of naughty days and paid dearly for them. So looks like I am going to have to eat a lot of veg this week and no fat!

Does anyone have any experience with gallstones? What should I avoid? I have had a Google but if I believe what I read on there I can eat nothing at all?!?!

Saw GP Tuesday and waiting for scan to confirm diagnosis though from symptoms and patterns she is certain it is stones. Also are there any magic tips for coping with an attack? Or do you just grimace through it? Was on the brink of calling 999 this morning :(

Hi All

I have been looking on this forum and reading up ont he Easyjet webpage but havnt really found a definitive answer. I am flying to Spain with Easyjet on June 2nd and am only taking hand luggage. Two reaons really my Dad who lives in Spain and picks us up hates waiting for the luggage to come through and I refuse to pay £32 per bag per person! The idea of visiting family is for a cheap holiday.

Anyway, I will or I hope to be taking Porridage, Shakes and Bars no Tetras. Thinking about taking Bouillion powder also.
My CDC said she had clients who were fine flying to Dubai but then she had two clients who had thier packs removed from them at security! What is everyone elses experience with this?

I flew to both Spain and Dubai with packs on LL back in 2009 and there were no problems at all.

What does everyone else do / think? x

I am spending HOURS each day planning meals...literally writing out every individual componant of a meal and listing the calories. I've been writing out of recipe books, and looking up new recipes on the internet. I DON'T EVEN COOK!

And I've never baked once in my life and I've actually been looking up cake and biscuit recipes!! :gimi: It's not that I'm actually tempted to eat any of it...it's all for when I've reached my goal and in maintenance (which is still a VERY long way away).

But it is becoming an actual obsession. :eat: Been going on for about a week now!

Hello,

I'm really struggling at the moment. I've been on Cambridge Diet SS for 6 weeks now. The weight loss was pretty good to begin with, and then over the last few weeks has started to really really slow. Last week I only lost 2lbs which was a little disappointing. But then this week I put on 1lb!!! So I've basically spent £100 to lose 1lb!

I have been following SS religiously. I have not cheated. I drink nothing but water, not even tea or coffee. I have to have 4 packs a day because I'm 5"9. But I only have the shakes, not even bars or porridge.

So I honestly don't know what is going on. Is there anyone who has had a similar experience? As I'm sure you can appreciate, its tough to keep the motivation going after such a ridiculously low weight loss.

I am drinking between 4 and 5 litres of water a day...my job involves quite a bit of walking...

I really don't know what more I can do...

I've been trying to start SS everyday for the past 5 days and failing every afternoon. I am really trying, drinking plenty of water and spacing my shakes but I end up failing late afternoon and can't seem to stop myself. It was becoming a cycle so have taken myself off CD totally today so that I can start afresh tomorrow.
i jut found bars in my fridge from when I attempted (half heartedly) CD last year. My question is would it be ok to have two shakes and a bar each day? And water of course. Rather than 3 shakes? I'm sure I've read that you shouldn't have them week 1 but I don't know why and am thinking if its what I need to get me through my afternoon snacking/ binge (freeze into little pieces and snack on) then surely this is a good option for me?
i woulld love some advice on your thought/experiences?

many thanks! I will not give up!

Hi everyone!!!

Starting my CD today after reading a lot of the posts on here and really hoping this is the one for me! I suffer from PCOS and am a complete carb (and food craver). Haven't had any of the packs yet, am going to wait until 11ish. Have drank 2l of water this morning and have another 2 to go but I'm going to sip it over the rest of the day. Drinking 4l is my choice as I want to try to keep constipation at bay and help keep me full.

Wish me luck!!!

Morning.
My little problem is this.
I reached goal last week, great, really chuffed.
I promised myself we would all go out as a family to a really nice place for dinner, and that we did-
boy, did I scoff! The next day, I found out I passed a really difficult legal qualification, so what did I do? Yup, you guessed it! Scoffed... agggh! then the next day and the day after! 4 days of eating too much, not massive amounts, not like I used to, but certainly not step 3 (which is what my CDC and me decided I would go onto straightaway).
Ok so, what did the scales say? 7 lb Gain! am absolutely gutted
So what i suppose Im looking for here, is re-assurance, advice, opinion on whether I could actually have put on 7lbs in 4 days?
Thanks x

Hi Ladies,

Joined this thread about 2 months ago and lost count of the number of times I have stopped and restarted this diet. I know it's amazing and works I just can't seem to stick to it for more than about 2 weeks without thinking I deserve a small treat, which leads do a day off and then back to square 1...

Because of this my weight is yoyo-ing up and down like mad, overall lost about 1 stone 4lb. Got a meeting with my counsellor and I've not been on the diet for about a week. Wanting to get back on as feeling seriously unhappy but not wanting to see them as feel they are going to be fed up of my constant ups and down.

Has anyone found this? Wondering if it is worth me changing counsellors or just ignore my worries, get packs and go?

Sorry to bore any help would be amazing you're all doing so great x

had a weigh in at day 5, i was disappointed id only lost 3lbs :(
reason i didnt have a 7 day weigh in was because i was not available on day 7 to visit my consultant.
She told me i was doing something wrong as i hadnt lost a lot of weight and should have lost a bit more
It boiled down to me eatting bits of red cabbage n carrot from my mixed seasonal salad from morrisons, i'd also consumed 5ml of anti-histamine, prition in liquid form which is sweet. So left feeling quite disheartened and upset. ive had a nasty cold for 3 days now, cant shake it off! Been taking paracetamol as cant take anything else. Really run down to the max at the moment and missing comfort foods BUT im carrying on going as i know this diet is giving me more nutrients than what i would normally consume.
BUT, i am missing my cakes, crisps and biscuits :(
Today was day 7, due to the type of work i do, i have not been able to drink any more than 2 pints so far. i will try and drink another 2 but will mean constant trips to loo in the night
Please weight, fall off me soon LOL

I am into my 10th week of SS and only had a couple of cheats along the way, mainly this past 2 weeks, but I am having a "night in" :cupid: on Thursday and becasue I know I am going to eat, I have started cheating. I boil chicken in the slow cooker for my two little dogs and have started to pick at that on a daily basis, not a lot, just a bit meat to fill me up. It's boiled so no fat added so that shouldn't be too bad, but today at work I had 4 biscuits and since Sunday I have eaten about 10 Ferrero Rocher chocolates (I don't even like them all that much !!!!). I am scared I am slipping. I want to get back on track but becasue Thursday is in my head I am thinking "what the hell" :(

Hi, I am new here and I have along way to go. This is my second time trying Cambridge diet but the first time was bad timing since i was trying to get pregnant. I am very unhappy and I gotta change that. I used to be a model, very thin. Shortly after I turned 25 I started slowly but steadily gaining weight. Last week I doubled my weight. I am determined to do something about it. I have 52 kg to get rid off. Is there anyone else trying to loose similar amount of weight or any beginners? Today is my second day on Cambridge. It is hard but so far no major problems. I had a big problem to drink water, or any liquids. So I've downloaded great app on my phone and I record every glass I drink. It helps a lot. I am drinking 3-4 litters of water. There are moments I am very confident i can do it this time but of course I do have also doubts since there is such a huge amount of weight to loose. I am very impatient :( I need to know it is doable.

I am seeing the Counsellor tonight for the first time. I have around 7 stone to lose and am going to need a LOT of support. I am determined to do this (but then aren't we all at the start?)
Okay, I am sure it has been discussed here a kazillion times before, but I need advice on the merits of going SS or SS+.

Nearing the end of Week 1 of CWP on SS, I am now looking ahead.

Although I understand the losses of the first week are the bestest ever and that I will never again have such a huge loss...I know I have lost a substantial amount already. This reminds me of how, when I get meself organised and keep my cake hole shut to rubbish food I can be quite an efficient flab losing machine.

So what are the pros and cons of going for either, or a mix of both? Can the addition of the + make the early days of CWP that much more sustainable?

Would really appreciate your collective wisdom on this one.

I failed my day 1 again! I have all the willpower until late afternoon and then that's it. I go into auto pilot and eat as though I will never get another meal!
this afternoon was going great then I felt the usual hunger pangs (big afternoon snacker) so decided to have a boiled egg to curb anything else - big mistake and it was as though because I had food any food was allowed and didn't stop eating all afternoon and then stopped as quickly as started.
i have to get over the afternoon binges! I've now been in bed since 10 and can't sleep cause I'm beating myself up knowing that I'm starting again tomorrow!
Is this just me? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
