C25K .... Overture and beginners please!

Now 40% less fat !
Hi
Anyone out there in the early stages of C25K?
Just downloaded the app and tentatively tried running for the first time in years? That was me 2 weeks ago.
Actually completed a workout, running when you should and walking in between without collapsing in a heap? That's me now :)

Despite a fantastic start on my Lipotrim diet (3 stone lost in 6 weeks), I'm still 7 stone overweight and I hadn't run in over 30 years. Now I really feel that I can do it!
If you're hesitant about trying it, how about joining me as a running mate?

Heya Denise, i have started c25k 3 times and for different reasons given up before even starting wk3 :sigh: , on friday i tried wk 2 again and not sure if it was the heat or just my fitness has dropped so much that i couldnt complete it. So this afternoon i am gonna try wk d1 again and try again. Its 8 weeks til my birthday and i would love to be so close to completing this. I use a treadmill at home to walk/jog on.
I am following weight watchers pro-points plan and so far have lost 4 stone and need about another 2 to get to goal. Would love to join u on this and hopefully the thought that i would not only be letting myself down but u as well if i dont complete it will give me the kick up the arse that i need.

Well done on the weight loss so far xx

Hi I just finished W3 today i honestly never thought I would get this far. I'm doing this on a treadmill too usually when the kids are in bed if I'm not shattered by then that is :) . I think well done to anyone who gives this program a go some of us might be running slow but it's still faster than sitting on the couch ...

Hi Zoe !

Wow, you're doing brilliantly well on WW :); you must have a will of iron! I tried it once before and lost a couple of stone but I just find it SO tempting to ket the portion sizes creep up and the treats creep in! The 100% TFR diet works well for me because I find it easier to abstain completely than to cut down. Anyway.....horses for courses I guess :D; it will be good to have a running buddy. Let me know how you get on this afternoon.
Don't try to run too fast! Remember......anything's faster than the couch!

I run between 06:30 and 07:00, on Tue, Thu and Sat, In the woods behind my house. I have quite a nice little circuit; out of the front gate and a brisk walk up the hill as my warm- up then a run along the footpath and into the woods. The work-out takes
me back downhill through the woods (past the back of my house) and comes out downhill and round the corner so that I can cool-
down as I walk back home. I do WK2 D1 on Tuesday, having nailed the week one workout to my satisfaction. I just hope the weather doesn't get too nasty this side of Christmas as I'd like to complete the programme by then

Hi LouQ,

It seems that Zoe and I are running a little behind you :D.
Well done on getting to week 4 and hear, hear on the speed thing. I was devastated at how badly I did on my first attempt and then a good friend, who runs regularly advised me to slow down. Since I learned to keep my pace just shade faster than the couch, I've never looked back :)
Running in the evenings sounds a tough option but we've all got to make time for this amongst a million and one other things so " good on ya".

Well wasnt gonna to do c25k today, got my butt planted on the computer seat but then saw both of you had posted on here so thought i would make the effort. Managed to complete w1 d1 without dying although i was sweating quite abit and noticed i burnt off over 300 calories when completed. My brother arrived as i was just doing the cool down and normally i would have felt embarrassed running in a sports bra and shorts in front of someone other than my partner or kids but still carried on so was very proud of myself for that.

I havent done that well with WW tbh, i started off really well and then the doctors took me off my medication and for 3 months i didnt loose any weight and then i became stagnant with the dieting but hopefully this time i will stick at it for more than a couple of days. Well done on doing Lipotrim i dont think i could manage without food especially not when its everywhere you look, that takes some real determination.

Well done Lou on wk4 how are you finding it? I stopped last time at the end of wk2 because the thought of running for 5 mins terrified me.

Hi, the app I'm using has wk 3 with run for 90 sec walk 90 sec run 3 mins walk 3 mins ( x2) I honestly never thought could do it. I've always been big but since I had my 2 boys I've piled on more weight and I'm sick of it. I hate buying something cause it fits not because I like it and I want to go into shops I usually have to pass out. That's what keeps my legs moving on the treadmill. I find it tough but feel like a million dollars when I complete a day. Each day feels a little easier although I'm saying that when wk4 has 5 min runs... I might just eat my words.
What speeds do you walk / run at? I find the slower I do it the longer I can keep going , I walk at 5km and run at 7.5km..

Keep up the good work ladies just think we're getting fitter and losing weight :)

Hmm just checked through my app and its the same 3 min walk, 3 min jog, i read a post on here saying wk3 was 5 min runs and got into a sweat just reading it. Will feel alot better now i have seen that is wk4 thank you. I walk at 5km and run at 7km atm. I was running at 6.5 and it was too slow. My reality hit home when i saw photos of myself posted on facebook after a family event, even though i was buying size 20 clothes it didnt register how big i was until i saw the photos.
The good thing is my daughter is also doing WW with me and so its alot easier if i am cooking something my oh and son wont eat not that it happens often.
I am gonna be walking/jogging on sunday, tuesday, thursday as monday, wednesday and friday i am trying to do some weights to help tone (believe me they dont weigh much more than a tin of beans atm).

Good luck with the upcoming week ladies xx

W2D1

Well.....my calves and knees can testify to the fact that 90 seconds running is a lot longer than 60! Yet, strangely the extra 30 seconds walk didn't really register

I stopped 15 seconds short of the beep on my 3rd run and I'm quite cross with myself for listening to the little voice that said 'you can't go on' .......because I damn well could have.

But let's look a the positives I ran for the full 90s on ALL of the other runs despite my complaining knees and I now feel great :)

So I'm counting this one; W2D2 on Thursday.

D:D

Good luck lilprincessvic! Keep us posted:)

W1d1 done!!! Shower and wrk time! Gosh im unfit

Well done! The first couple of runs are a bit of a reality check but it's amazing how quickly you see an improvement! Also, as my GP pointed out, getting fitter doesn't happen automatically when you lose weight - you have to tackle the problems separately. I've been on many, many diets but this is the first time I've made a proper effort to exercise and WHAT a difference!

So keep at it ! :D

W2D3 - done :)

Resolved the technical issues that messed up Saturday's run (couldn't hear the beep on my Bluetooth headset) and did all my runs properly today. Feeling pleased with myself but anxious about the three minute runs in Wk 3 :eek::rolleyes:

W3D1

Whoop! Whoop! Whoop!:)

Can't believe I managed to run for 3 minutes......but I did......twice!

I can't begin to tell you how apprehensive I was, because tbh some of the 90 second runs were a challenge last week!

So if, like me, you're inclined to believe that the jump from 90s to 3 minutes is a bit much, then have faith ;). If I can do it anybody can.

Have had to change my running ticker though because realised that just showing the the total running time for the workout (9 mins) didn't tell the whole story :D

Completed run 2 of wk1 yesterday and am planning on going out again in the morning. Haven't fit in all three in one week due to the dark night and not liking to go out on my own (will go on the streets when i am a bit more comfortable with my fitness levels!) Ached for a few days after the first run so was nicely surpriesed when diidn't feel anywhere near as bad after the second run and also found it slightly easier... you never know if the OH gets in at a reasonable time tonight might go out tonight once the little ones are in bed and start wk 2 will have to see what happens later.

ok didn't go tonight... decided to treat myself to a glass of wine instead!

Well done! It is amazing how quickly you improve isn't it? Wouldn't worry about too much about fitting three runs into a week though! It sounds like you have a busy life so as long as you make sure you repeat each sequence at least twice it doesn't really matter if you have a day or two's break !

Best of luck !

Yay completed wk1 on Saturday and felt ok on sunday so started wk2, babysitter arranged so out again in the morning.

Go girl ! :D
