I'm using runkeeper at the minute, you can set it to tell you what your current pace is as well as how far you've gone, it'll also post to facebook/twitter etc.
Another good app is jogfm which matches the tempo of the music on your phone to the pace you're running or you can set it at a pace to keep you at that pace, I find it helpful
also if you're just starting off you could try the NHS couch to 5k program, gets you from nothing to running 5k in 9 weeks, well worth doing if you're just getting started

Thanks all think Im going to try the Couch to 5K for Android, but have seen theres loads of different ones :/ I preferably want one I can listen to my own music rather than theirs x
