Insanity

Hey hey everyone....

So, I'm looking for thoughts and reviews on Insanity? I'm starting it in March (to allow myself long enough to recover from Labrynthitis!).

I'm really looking forward to the challenge, and have watched countless videos of peoples results, but I just wondered if anyone on here has done it and what your results were?

Thanks peeps

It's really good, I've never made it all the way through as I tend to do other stuff as well. ... gym, swimming etc but you'll 100% feel it the next day!

I'm going to do Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs first and build up to insanity I think lol.....

I've got that dvd.... I'm a nightmare! night give it a go tomorrow as can't get to the gym and can't manage insanity at the mo. ... Still aching from yesterday's swim!

Have you done it before? I'm intrigued to know if it works lol!

I completed it during the summer and it was very tough, i was dripping sweat after each workout. I found it great for toning up but I didn't see massive changes, maybe because I was already fairly fit. It is a massive commitment though, first month vids are 40mins approx but they go up to over an hour second month. They are full on from the start. I keep meaning to start over but I know what's involved now! Lol

I don't know whether I'll actually do it or not now; the more I watch and read about it, the more scared I get lol!! We shall see what happens after hip hop abs is done.

I did insanity last year from October to December and even have the t-shirt! I have to say it is a bit of a shock to the system at first and for the first couple of weeks I was dreading the workout everyday, but it soon becomes habit and in a strange way is kind of addictive.

By the end of the 63 days I had lost over a stone, (13.13 to 12.9) which is pretty good going considering I was drinking quite a lot of lager 4 nights a week and the inevitable bad food that goes with it. It was only the last two weeks that I gave up the lager and the weight just flew off - literally 9lbs of the total weightloss was during that period, although it also should be said that the second month of insanity is harder than the first - longer workouts, harder moves etc.

What I loved about it is Shaun T - he's great at motivating you and getting you through the workout, and my fitness went through the roof by the end. The only downside really is that by month 2 the workouts are about an hour a day 6 days a week which is a bit of a time drain. (I only had the tine available as I was off football due to a sports hernia)

A man certainly wouldnt get the muscles like that either from insanity - but a great way to shred fat in a relatively short time.

If I did it again I'd lose the drinking and maybe only have one or two cheat meals a week and have no doubt that I could have lost a lot more, although around 12.7 stone is probably my ideal weight anyway (possibly with a bit more muscle and a bit less fat!)

I'd go for it, I've not heard that hiphop abs is that good really, you just need to commit and throw yourself in to it!

Hi Sara / Rich

There is an old saying "You can't out exercise a bad diet" to put it in perspective a cheeseburger and a pint of lager are approx 850 calories. It takes over an hour non stop at a fast pace on a rowing machine
just to burn those two items off.

So to lose weight effectively, diet and exercise go hand in hand.

When I started I was completely unfit. i nearly gave myself a heart attack going for a fast walk. i found it was a gradual process improving my diet. i was also drinking at least 4 pints a night coupled with fast
food, snacks and sweets and then increasing exercise a bit at a time.

I started walking, then fast walking. then fast walking with a bit of jogging, then walking and jogging the same. then jogging with a walk to catch my breath. etc etc. I also bought a resistance band so I could do
exercises in the house.

After gradually building up my exercise routine i joined a gym but that was 10 months into my weight loss journey.

I only drink about 4 pints a week maximum now. I've cut down on fast food but not completely and i've virtually stopped snacking and eating sweets.

To do a full on exercise course when you are just starting your weight loss journey in my opinion is to much to soon. good luck if you do give it a go.

I've lost 40kgs in 15 months so i know my slow and gradual way works.

Further to my previous post

I was 53 obese and hadn't done any exercise for 25-30 years when I started my weight loss journey.

So the slow gradual way was definitely the best and most sensible route for me.

Rich did insanity and Shaun T and achieved his ideal weight (well done), just quicker than me.

The positive thing is both ways work so if you start with a high intensity method and it doesn't suit you. You can always take the gradual route.

Well I've completed Hip Hop Abs; total loss of 8 inches and 5lbs in 4 weeks. Not too bad. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it really tested me, and I'm one for a challenge!

Therefore, I have joined a gym and am getting myself a personal trainer. I've had one session with him already, and as much as it nearly killed me, I felt great! Can't wait for more! I may do insanity in the future, but for now, it's slow and steady wins the race for me. :)

Well done Rich and Dave :)

That's brilliant, well done Sarah x

I've completed insanity, and I LOVED IT! Doing Insanity Max 30 now and it is incredibly hard, but well worth it! Feel myself toning up every week! Completed month 1 now, and im starting month 2 next week.
If your scared to go into insanity, I would recommend doing T25 first to ease yourself in and then go for insanity! :)

I'm thinking about doing Insanity Max 30, as I can get most of the dvds on YouTube! Have watched through some of them, and I reckon I can do it. Am fitter now than I was when I was considering original Insanity! Either that or I'll do Hip Hop Abs again. Either way I'm going to do something in addition to the gym.

I need to try a few different things. ...I've cancelled my gym membership now and getting out walking. ...my fitbit is forcing me to hit 10,000 steps a day! !!!
