Go to whichever forum you want to post the thread into. At the top on the left you should see a button called 'New Thread' - click that, type away and submit

Click into a section where you want to post, like Newcommers. Then top and bottom of the page you should see a blue button with "New Thread" click that and the rest should follow threw.

If you choose the picture you want and size it to 80 x 80 pixels, no bigger than 19 kb you can upload it through your user control panel under avatar.
