Are very painful periods related to obesity?

I have suffered with very painful periods for about 2 years now, some you of might think i am exaggerating but it's coming to the point were i can't put up with it much longer. It stops me from doing day to day things for about 3 days, i can barely walk, i feel faint, i don't want to eat and i just cry constantly.
The pain is not even a cramp feeling, it's the exact same feeling when you need to go the toilet but can't, if you know what i mean?

I did pass it off as 'normal' for the past 2 years but now it's unbearable. I've been thinking about making an appointment with my doctor/nurse but fear i'll just be told it has something to do with my size.. has anyone had similar experiences?
    it totally sucks

I know a few people who've has terrible periods and none of them have been overweight. I would suggest seeing your GP, you don't have to put up with it.
I've heard the pill helps but I suppose it depends on your circumstances.

I tried asking about the pill but i can't go on it because of family health problems (blood clots, heart disease etc.)
I'm going to make an appointment with the doc anyway, can't do any harm to ask

Yes do book an appointment!! You could maybe try the coil if that's any good, it stopped my periods for years when I had it. I no longer have it, hence why I'm still up in agony with cramps etc as I speak! There is a strong pill called mefenamic acid that helps a lot....also try googling natural remedies etc and have a look at what u could add/take out of your diet...I'm going back to the docks soon, we shouldn't have to suffer! I hope u get it sorted.xx

I used to suffer terribly. Now I have a coil that transformed my life. It's called a Mirena and lasts 5 years. Periods that used to go on for 10 days almost stopped and were so much easier to manage. Do go and see a gynecologist. You need specialist help. You don't ned to put up with it and it's nothing at all to do with! your weight.
