Evening munchies

Sherlock Holmes
What do you do when you get the evening munchies about 8 or 9pm?

I was mostly good all day and had a healthy dinner, but I got ravenous at 8.30pm and had to have a bowl of special k. I'm hoping it doesn't tip me over into gaining weight (if I'm honest I had too much weight watchers bread today).

I suppose distracting myself from the hunger would be the best thing but I get really cranky when I'm hungry and find it hard to concentrate.

To help reduce feeling hungry at night, I usually finish the day with one of those 40 calorie Options hot chocolate sachets and I've found that this really helps me to not snack at all.

As you've said, finding something to distract yourself is probably the best solution in the long run and personally I find I have the best weight loss when I don't eat after around 7pm x

I've just had a cup of tea and it seems to have made me feel fuller. I'll try not eating after 7pm and see if it helps with the weight loss :)

I don't eat my main meal until after 9pm, which helps me get over wanting to eat badly in the early evenings. I find if I've still got my dinner to look forward to I can resist temptation pretty well and just have a little snack in the meantime. :) xx

Well I truly failed tonight! I just could not get those cravings out of my mind and caved in and ate about six cookies. I feel sick now! It feels like all of today's exercise has gone to waste :(

Perhaps I'll try eating my dinner later.

That certainly works for me. :) xx

I agree with tweakedgirl, i have an options. My danger time is after i pick the kids up from school. I tend to have a coffee/options and go to the room furthest room from the kitchen to drink it!!!

What time are you eating your dinner? And are you eating enough?

Eating a high protein dinner around 6 - 7pm helps me stay full till the morning. I usually make a large serving of steak & broccoli. If I want to eat after 7pm, I check internally to see why I want to eat. Is it because I'm bored or stressed? If it's not real hunger then I usually chew gum, try to do some work, find a friend to talk to, or drink tea.

I usually eat dinner about 5.30 or 6pm. I think it is large enough, but I comfort eat and tend to do that around 8pm. I don't think I was properly hungry, but was feeling a bit upset and wanted to eat.
