I am worrying about Christmas already, how do u stick to a low calorie diet during this time??? Our house is always full of food and sweets. Are there any ideas for low cal Christmas dinners etc and still taste good, the food is what I most look forward to at Christmas usually :-(

Personally, having dieted through the last two Christmases, I just had three days off plan when I didn't worry about how much I ate and got straight back to it afterwards. You have to learn to fit celebrations into any weight loss plan, otherwise you're far less likely to succeed. Just be completely on plan between now and Christmas then just enjoy yourself for a few days, making sure you've got a plan for exactly when and how you'll get back on track. :) xx

We dont have chocolates and crap in the house over xmas so that helps lol! We just enjoy xmas day as normal but stick to plan the rest of the days x

I followed Weight Watchers last Christmas and found it really hard being limited by the points but on Slimming World this year I know it will be much easier so I'm sure it will be ok on a low calorie diet for you too. For xmas dinner I am planning to have the turkey with loads of fresh steamed veg, parsnips and potatoes roasted in frylight so I don't feel like I'm missing out, bread sauce made with wholemeal breadcrumbs and skimmed milk, quorn sausages (tasty and much better than normal sausages!) then I've found a recipe for a low calorie stuffing which I'll give a try. So that's the main meal sorted for me. In the evening if I have any space left it's usually cold meat and salad which will be on plan so it's just really christmas pud and custard that's going to be the problem...especially as it's my fave pudding! Hopefully I'll be so full up from dinner I'll only have space for a small piece lol. Besides, in the grand scheme of things what is a little blip one day in the year?! ;)

well i dont like Christmas pudding so i suppose that's a plus :p thanks for the tips guys. x

Or if you have to have stuff in the house, choose the low fat healthier options for everyone, that way its not as bad?

Im actually really worried about xmas too...Iv lost 2 stones i have a feeling im gonna pile it all back on and some more at christmas. My problem is I drop weight quick but I gain it just as quicker...Having a few days off will not work for me.

Going to have to look at some recipes for low fat, tasty alternatives because I will also take a long time to get back on track if I take days off :-/ maybe we should share some good recipes :)

Yeah i think thats a good idea. You want to enjoy yourself over the holiday period so looking at alternatives instead of cutting everything out will help :)

That's what I thought, I shall be on the lookout :)

My plan for Christmas is to be allowed Christmas Day and Boxing Day off because it's my favourite time of year and it wouldn't be the same on a diet! I know it will be really difficult getting back on the diet horse but in this instance I think it will be worth it....

I am not sure what my plan of attack is for going back on the diet after the break as it's not like there are 3 days after boxing day of work to get me back into a routine. I have had two "treat" nights since starting the diet 9 weeks ago so hopefully I can do it again. I will just have to keep reminding myself of my initial motivations that made me start

This is the only reason i'm glad my family doesn't celebrate Christmas, lol.

Hahaha, saving on the calories is definitely a bonus :)

Don`t be on a diet during Christmas. You will feel bad and the happy atmosphere may be damaged by this. Try not to eat too much, but also don`t follow your diet. It may be a good idea to introduce a three bites policy. You can eat whatever you want, but only 3 bites of everything. And make sure as soon as Xmas are finished you get right back to your normal eating habits.

But it's the getting off track I can't do , if I have say 3 days of eating whatever I want , 3 will turn into 4 and 5 etc , I also I'm really bad at portion control :-( would rather look for some healthier options , obviously going to be a few calories more than usual but hopefully not to much :)

You know yourself well enough to make that judgement. After all its all about finding what works for you when dieting...

my problem is the cheeses and biscuits we have christmas night. all our kids come over and we have lots of cheese. Last year I cut off three or four pieces got three or four crackers then moved away from the table. I could have literally eaten the table top as cheese is my passion but I'd been trying on WW then and it was hard enough counting all the points in other things without the cheese. this year I will fill up on veg and fruit at meal time. Is turkey free too on EE? Boxing day isn't too bad as we usually all go to the football (walking there and back)

a few years ago I lost 2 lbs over Christmas and didn't remember feeling deprived.

Turkey Breast is really low, and if you avoid roasties and pigs in blankets, boiled potatoes, veg and gravy is not that much. I'm not a huge cheese fan so was happy to avoid this, but found I did eat more chocolate than usual. This wasn't impossible to moderate as it was things like roses or celebrations - so i could have a few but didn't have to eat the entire packet (like i would have it was a bar of dairy milk). I found having the variety was more important than the quantity

If cheese is an issue you can get low fat versions. Philly light with sweet chilly sauce is really nice. Alternatively you can grate hard cheese - it will feel like more than it is. Can you switch the biscuits for rice cakes? Again will feel like more. Also have with grapes - cheese and grapes go together and it will make you feel fuller without having deprived yourself.

Breakfast was always a big deal in our house, but using the usual tricks (no sausages, egg whites only etc.) its possible to still join in but not have the calories.

I also found that I ended up just eating 2 meals, so when i counted what I had eaten it wasnt too bad.
