Help!!! I don't know where to start!

Please can someone help me.... I just don't know where to start. I lost 5 stone a few years back and have gained around a stone back over the course of 2 years which is fine but at 13 stone I would ideally like to lose around 40 lbs. That said, I've dabbled with some sessions at the gym and various diets and All I know is I either give up fall off the wagon or lose heart when I notice no changes.
I've tried to stay away from the scales and I am happy to continue to do so if I have a successful plan to follow which I can monitor my losses or success in a different way, I. E fit of clothes etc.

However all that said and with an under active thyroid I am just at my witts on where or how to start?

Do I count calories, find a diet club or can I simply eat healthy and exercise?

Any advice of pointers would be great, to add I've tried the diet I tried previously and it just doesn't again seem to work long term, great first week loss and the by weeks 3 I hit a plateau.

Please save me - I'm in dispair

I would recommend slimming world as you pretty much can eat what u like but within moderation. However this can be easily done.at home by cutting back and eating more fruit and veg x if u want any more info on slimming world just ask as thats the diet im following and in 5 weeks i have lost 11.5lbs xx

I can identify with you. I've been a YO YO dieter for years and I'm right back at square one. At the moment my body is all aches and pains and is telling me that I have no choice but to cut down on my weight. My BMI is at 50+ at the moment and I know that I have to start back on losing weight. I did well last year on Slimming World and had nearly 3 stone off. So hard to stay motivated but I will just have to keep trying. I would recommend Slimming World as it is easy to follow and there's loads that you can eat. Good luck:)

I found the best thing for my weight loss was simply having a weight loss 'buddy' someone to chat to or exercise with who is in the same boat as you. You push each other to get out and get exercising! It also helps when you're feeling low or are struggling :)

I identify with your first post so much! I lost 5.5 st a few years ago, fell off the wagon and put back on about half of that. I initially lost that weight with SW but I have found it doesnt suit me anymore (too much reliance on splenda and stuff like that). I just cant find the motivation to stick with anything these days. I have thyroid issues to throw into the mix too! I need to get my ass in gear though and going to start logging my diary on my fitness pal again but concentrating on unprocessed foods, I have tried eating paleo and while I feel amazing on it, it is unrealistic to eat like that 24/7 I feel but I will defo base my meals around that. I have pcos/insulin resistance so get major sugar cravings so I cannot even have artificial sugars as they make me crave sweet stuff! I'm hoping to keep myself accountable with a friend in work and on here- best of luck and pop back here and we can keep each going if you want! I have about 5-6 stone to lose to be at a healthy weight so I really need to do something about it!

Hhmmm I know this all to well. I've had a rough 2 years at work and it's completely sucked the confidence out of me but also left me a worrier and without much zest for anything so have been struggling to date with any kind of diet. I've decided enough is enough though, I'm 30 and have plenty to give an need to stop worry so much, there are times I am going to mess up and I may even get a telling off for it but just got to suck it up and get over it. Got to start living in the moment rather than in the past or worrying what the future holds.
So its back to healthy eating and exercise, no sugary things or crisps an just generally going to behave myself.
I'm going skiing in march and really would like to lose at least a stone, my calf muscles are on the chunky side an so sometimes the ski boots if I do them up too tight really dig in so that's my motivator

Good luck to you all and thank you for your words of advice x

I've come here for the same reason. I lost no weight on Atkins last week having read the book and deciding carbs and not fat were my problem but ate a lot of cheese. I paid £60 twice last year for slimming world which looks great but I'm not really keen on unprocessed food and there seemed to be an emphasis on some fake food. Read South beach too but couldn't be bothered. Don't know why. I think about dieting all of the time and read so many books. My kindle has at least 10 diet books on it. I'm a beauty therapist so talk all day with other women struggling and change my mind weekly on best way forward. I also had cancer a few years back so worry about what way of eating is the healthiest. It's funny cause people who know me think I've got things quite together but I'd say my obsession is getting out of hand. This is my first post ever on a forum. Feels good to just let all of that out! Hope I'm not the only one out there and I find some buddies as I try to become more mentally balanced?!

I really understand what a few of you are saying on here, I seem to jump from diet to diet without ever really finding what works for me? I can see why each different way is good but can't seem to stick to any?

Every diet has it's own pros and cons. Focus more on the problem areas and work out accordingly. I weighed like a 112kgs when I started. Now I weigh 58 kgs! It was a nightmare come true in the beginning. I worked out, swam, exercised underwater too. It really works well, I burnt almost twice the calories. (Real timesaver;)) You can also try replacing junk food with fresh fruits and eat them every 3 hours or so. Another smart way (and a big secret I keep from my friends) is that I use Epica oil by Prakruti JiyoFresh. It is an ayurvedic weightloss technique which is completely harmless and effective. All you need to do is to apply it externally on the problem areas and see the difference. Try it, it really works!
