Dumped for losing weight

livi

Committed Loser
I had a gastric bypass in December last year and I have since lost 8st. Feeling great and it's the best decision I've ever made but my fiance of five years wasn't keen on the new me and has dumped me....

My confidence has obviously improved but Im still the same person. Very confused. Was he just a chubby chaser?

Really well done on your amazing weight loss. I'm sorry to hear about your fiancé - does seem a tad strange that he'd leave you for losing weight? Surely your health and happiness is what was important - just think of it as losing even more useless weight!

It could be any number of reasons he left - he likes larger ladies, he feels you have changed even if you haven't, or he was scared he would be dumped and jumped the gun.

Either way it is his loss and like you said you have the confidence now to move on and focus on yourself. Good luck and I hope you are enjoying your new self - 2015 is your year! :)

Hi livi,

Well its his loss.maybe he liked large women or maybe losing weigh has given you more confidence in yourself that he didnt like it ? Some men like to control and if they find your weak spot they think they have a hold on you.x

Be strong. He obviously wasn't good enough for you. Embrace your new life. Make sure you talk to friends and family when you need to. xx

I certainly agree with all that's been said Livi.. well done you for having lost all that weight!

I knew of a young woman who had the same happen to her but the only difference was she had been married for about six years and had a couple of children.. better that you've been able to find out now than a lot further down the line... Keep going sweetie..don't let anything set you back now that you've found a more confident and healthier way to go.

Onwards and Downwards ! :girlpower:

He probably thinks now you feel more confident and look better, that other men will be interested, he's not worth worrying about, enjoy xmas without him x

livi, he does not deserve you.

You have done fantastically well and he should be proud of you for it!

People have summed things up perfectly here but you will find the right person for you who will love you regardless of your appearance.
Stay strong and keep going :)
