Can you weigh yourself too much??

Can anyone help? I'm a newbie and just wondering how often should you weigh yourself? Im doing this alone :)
 
You should only weigh yourself once a week that way you avoid the daily fluctuations but see the actual change in yourself. I'd also recommend using a tape measure so you can see the size changes too. Also when you weigh keep things the same. So same time of day and close o possible to same clothes too!

I also weigh myself about 3 times a day on two different scales just to be sure I'm thinking of taking my scales to my parents house and weigh once a week
 
I'm the worlds worst for weighing myself ALL the time, but really I think once a week at most is your best bet... weight fluctuates so easily and it can have such a negative affect on your outlook for the day (or few hours until the next weigh in!) and spacing it out a little more definitely gives a more accurate picture. Measuring yourself is also a great thing to do!
 
I am really bad for standing on the scales too much. I was standing on them every morning, and often can find myself standing on them when I go to the bathroom. It's bad, my hubby has hid the scales from me and will bring them out once a week for a weekly weigh in. I asked him to do that, as I was driving myself bananas with standing on them all the time.
 
I am a daily weigher too.......

I find it stops me having a bad week - as one bad day can be reversed a bad week or month is so much harder.

Ignorance is not bliss - as being relaxed with eating habits has seen me gain 5st plus in 8 years
 
Wow done it again the scales are the same even thou - I walked yesterday (however lucky they didn't go up as had 2 glasses of red wine and a curry!!!)
 
I'm a monthly weigher but I think how often is best for you depends on your personality.
 
I officially weigh every week at group but find myself jumping on scales at home if I have a slight blip. Shouldn't but it personally helps me get back on it. I personally would say weigh once a week as your weight does fluctuate. I was heading for a gain earlier in week due to new years but now it's a generous loss. Its only because I've learnt this is what happens that I don't get beat up about it but for a newbie it could send them off track majorly x

they say around once a week, but I'm terrible and weigh pretty much every morning, its a terrible thing to do and a habbit i need break as i find that depending what the scales show sets my mood up for the day. which is mainly - rubbish! lol

I started a diet six days ago and if I don't weight myself daily I will not keep it in my head that my weight needs to be sorted. If the weight doesn't come off as fast as I would like I will convince myself it is for instance body fluctuations, etc., so won't get too worried.
 
I weigh once a week. Weight tends to fluctuate too much for my liking. Plus it gives me something to look forward to.
 
Like everything in weight loss you will hear a lot of different answer :p

I've also read that
Funnily enough, a study came out this week concluding that weighing yourself more often made you more likely to lose weight.
But they mention that if you had any eating disorder that weighting often isn't recommended.

So it depends on you.

But I believe most of us can't go wrong with 1 time a week.

If you weigh yourself everyday. record it then work out a weekly average. That should take care of the the fluctuations. After a month the 4 weekly averages will give you a true indication of your progress.
 
I always thought once a week (same day, same time, same clothes) seemed sensible but I did see something on TV recently which (as Dave W above stated) said the latest thinking was that you should weigh yourself every day and work out the average.
 
oh wow once a month or week is crazy for me .. I weigh myself 3-4 times a day and sometimes use the gym scale too :( when it's weighing day at Sw I'm even worse .. slightly obsessed ..
