A combined problem ofloosing weight and being totally freaked out by the prospect of going in to the little cubicle has seen me leave it till my bras are a diabolicle shambles and cant support themselves let alone my huge knockers just wondering wether anyone else has the same fears and feelings

I used to hate it, but of course its a necessary evil. See the woman measuring you as like a nurse, they are not looking to see you as a playboy centerfold!! And you have nothing they have not seen before!!Where are you going to be measured??

Blog Entries: 1 Rep Power: 0 ![]() Diet: calorie counting | The last time I got measured for a bra was almost comical. I have a 40" chest but small B cup boobies, and the lady doing the measuring said "ooh, sorry dear, we don't do anything in that size, you're a very strange shape". Great, I'm a "strange shape", thanks for that, very constructive. As it is, I've since found plenty of bras online, and also buy 36C's and use the back-strap extenders that you can buy from Ebay/La Senza etc.

I recently discovered I was wearing the wrong size entirely... my boobs have shrunk since I've lost weight but I'm wearing a bigger size now, was worth the humiliation to feel nice and supported! Plus they look a bit bigger again! | |

My Mood: Rep Power: 1 ![]() Diet: Calorie counting | Austineer - you are not alone. I too come in at around a 40B/C bra and have a lot of trouble getting bras to fit. I am very broad and have always needed a larger size band. Before i lost weight i was a 44A/B . I always feel like some sort of misfit when i try to buy bra's. I always buy online now.I'm going to get properly measured when i've lost all the weight. |

I know it's the measurement under and the measurement round, but how do you calculate the letter? and which measurement is the number...under or round?? anyone able to enlighten me? I'm definitely in the wrong size.... ![]() |

What size is 31 inches under and 38 inches around??? Edit - Just researched this online...very confusing! My under measurement was actually about 30.5 inches...that means I could either be a 36C or a 34DD....bit of a difference for half a blooming inch!!! | Likes to post | When I had lost weight the first time around I went to John Lewis and got measured, before that I had never been measured and just got a bra of the peg at M&S. The fitters in JL were totally fab and I spent a small fortune.... now I have lovely bras (esp the chocolate brown silk Calvin Klein one!) that I cant fit into! I am now in a saggy Next 2 pack jobby. I keep thinking I dont want to spend any money on 'big clothes' then end up with nothing to wear! Piglet x |

Blog Entries: 5 Rep Power: 100 ![]() | Getting fitted for the right size bra can make all the difference to comfort and how you look in your clothes and is well worth the embarrassment and effort...it does help if you get a good fitter who make you feel comfortable, unfortunately they are as rare as hen's teeth in my own experience. I use to never wear an under wire bra because as years ago the old fashioned bras use to dig into me and were most uncomfortable to wear. With new bra technology and design I thought I would try again and to my delight I found that Chantelle underwire bras are very comfortable and best of all no over hang on the sides as they are well constructed. I have never had a fitter measure me and come back first time with a bra that actually fits properly... In different makes of bras the size seems to vary a lot. I found this article below interesting and seems to explain a lot about bras and fitting. Quote:

My Mood: Rep Power: 1 ![]() | Bravissimo is excellent and no tape measure involved. The fitter will ask what your current bra size is, pull the back of the bra you are wearing to see if it's too big/any give and look at the cup for fit. They will ask what style and colour you are lookng for and bring you some bras to try. They will wait outside the cubicle until you have the bra on, then check the fitting when you call them. I took my mother to their Chester branch, she was very worried and embarrassed - she had never been fitted for a bra. She needn't have been - she sat down throughout and it was me that helped her put on the bra and then called the fitter to check her out once the bra was on. Their bras are very well designed and the shape they give you is fantastic. You'll be amazed the difference a good fitting bra does to you and your confidence. |
