I'm the exact opposite, I'm a complete carb/sugar addict. I love sweets, pastries, sodas, ice creams, crepes, cookies, pies, umm basically all that is considered bad. I'm also a McDonald's addict, I know it's bad and it's evil, but I can't help myself, it's like a drug addict. The sad thing is they didn't get me fat, I got ill one day, and stayed in bed alot, and basically anything I ate which wasn't alot just stuck to me. People thought I ate HUGE portions, but I eat less than normal.

I wonder if I can find a crockpot(slow cooker) here. They don't have alot of things UK, Ireland, and the States have. Different culture and likes of food over here. I'm sure if I find one it will cost an arm and a leg. I've gotta start freezing foods too Thanks for the great tips!

Great idea on freezing portions of food. That way we have our own ready meals to hand for busy days or just too weary to cook. I also freeze portions of prawns and can quickly add them to a stirfry of veg. I keep a bag of quorn chicken style pieces in the freezer too for the same quick meals. I never had quorn until I started GL and I love it now.

Is quorn a brand for chicken? I googled quorn and it came up a brand for chicken products.

But good idea Molly on the having frozen chicken around. For days when it's busy or lazy, you can have a quick fix. I froze down the last of the fried rice, it was perfect my size portions. So maybe sometime next week or something I can eat it

Thanks for the great idea ladies

Quorn is soy protein and is very low fat as well. Quorn products include, sausages, burgers and lots of chicken styles etc. You'll find it or similar in the vegetarian section.
I love the chicken style pieces which look like chopped chicken breast.

Ok cool. We have some imitation meat things here, not a lot, but there are a few things. It's not easy to find tofu or soy products here either. I don't think where I live people are that into healthy things like in (UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, Japan, Australia, etc). For me this is the countryside, even though my man begs the differ

I miss munching down on silky tofu with some green onions, bonito flakes and soy sauce. It's really good for you and it's low fat and low calories. So you can eat the whole thing and maybe get 75 calories tops. Also I believe it's low GI.

    That tofu dish sounds nice.
Is it because of the climate there that the diet is different, like needing long shelf life, energy giving for cold winters ??

I think the cold long winters has to do a lot with it. The people tend to eat a lot of starches(their breads are sweet, potatoes, pasta), fats, and meat, compared to where I'm from. I was really surpraised at the lack of vegetables, variety and freshness. Also basically everything is imported here, and what grows here only grows for a short time. It's amazing that Swedes are so skinny for what they eat, I guess genetics. But no wonder why I gained 5lbs when I first moved here.

In California things are always growing there, and there is alot of variety, and freshness. Well they also have a huge population, whereas in Sweden the population is small and very spread out across the country.

    Hiya.

Well, my weekly weigh in was today. And I lost 2lb this week, which I am happy about. At least its heading in the right direction again, after my 2lb weight gain. So now I officially weigh 8st 13oz or 56.5kg. Yay It's funny how going down from 9 stone to 8st 13, although a difference of 1lb, makes such a difference.

Today my diet looked like this:
B: usual porridge+blueberries+almond+milk with addition of dried apple ring! and glass of milk (as I knew my snack + lunch going to be later than usual
S: small nectarine (they've all riped up at the same time!)
L: hummous on toast with bowl of salad inc 4 olives
S: cottage cheese w/ tsp of jam
D:aubergine curry+black lentils+rice+salad , with second helping of aubergine curry (had to use all my willpower to stop myself from eating more lentils and rice)
    S: undecided

Cali, I always find it interesting to know what people eat in different countries. I remember once I was visiting friends in Norway and I had a plane to catch to visit other friends in Netherlands. I had breakfast in Norway consisting of bread, cheese, ham, tomato and green peppers. Got to Netherlands and had identical food for lunch! It still makes me smile. If Sweden is anything like Norway, they must love meat and stodge

Congratulations on the weightloss! I'm proud of you! Yes 1 lbs can make such a big difference, especially when you add a couple of them up

You food sounds so yummy with a good variety. Actually you inspired me today, I bought cottage cheese, and had it for a snack today. Mmmm aubergine and curry sounds really yummy, I think I'm going to have to make some curry one of these days soon.

I think it's really interesting what people eat in different countries too. Sweden and Norway are brother countries, they call each other brother. Actually Sweden calls Norway little brother, and Norway calls Sweden sweet brother. I heard about the food in Norway from my guy, he goes there alot. He says they love their sandwich bread, and they eat alot of sandwiches. I've asked a couple of my Norwegian friends, and they have confirmed it. Yes they love their meat, stodge, and dairy out here a lot.

    Thanks, you guys

I have to make a real effort to ensure that my diet is varied, otherwise I end up eating the same things. At the moment, I know that my snacks are very samey - I will have to do something about that.

Did you have cottage cheese with a spoon of jam, Cali? I am kind of addicted to it.

I try to make my food varied too. Reading about what you guys eat and try makes me want to eat and try more different things. I guess what's the same thing for one person isn't for another. I ate my cottage cheese plain, I thought it had a lot of taste in it alone. My guy bought a flavored cottage cheese the other day, but I thought plain cottage cheese tastes best I know call me weird right.

Well, today was a so-so sort of day.

    B: usual porridge+blueberries+almond+milk
    S: small amount of chickpeas
    L: pea & mint soup
    S: 60g smoked trout
    D: leftover black lentils+rice plus stir-fried cabbage
S: 2 dollops of cottage cheese w/ tsp of jam

My lunch was not great as I was out and about, and the pea & mint was the only thing in the place I could have. I felt a bit sick afterwards because it felt quite creamy while I was eating it & I didn't have the small bread roll that came with it because it was yuck ( well, I took a bite!). Not enough fruit or veg today

Good job Ashie on picking the best option while out. It's not easy, but at least you still stuck to the best choice

The rest of your food sounded really good, even the soup, except for the creamy part. I'm so tired of fatty rich foods atm. You still ate pretty good today

I don't see much wrong with your food today. You made a healthy choice when out, even if it had too much cream, and left most of the bread. so , yeah, a couple more fruit or veg would have made it better but it's a pretty good day. So I say well done to you.
