Could you suggest to your friend that you share a slice of cake? Then you only have to eat a half of it, and could probably get away with just a quarter.
Or you could just tell her that you ate right before you met her and you're just not hungry. It sounds like if you tell her you don't want it because of the diet she will pressure you in to it anyway, but she can't really argue with you not being hungry.
And if you do end up just eating a piece of cake, then it is just one piece of cake- on its own it cannot ruin your weigh in this week : )
Those are both excellent ideas Ruth, thank you! I feel less anxious about it now that I have some anti-cake tools at my disposal.![]()

I got a new set of scales yesterday, the old ones were still showing different readings despite having fresh batteries. The new ones seem pretty good and they also show a visceral fat rating. This is the fat that's around your organs etc which is unhealthy if it's high, and I was worried mine would be high because I'm quite apple-shaped. But it was at the high end of the 'ok' range which was a pleasant surprise. I think it would have been higher before doing low GI/GL actually if I'd been able to measure it.
Unlike my old scales, though, the new ones do not take your body fat % into account when calculating your BMR and so the number of calories it gives is higher. So I guess I'll keep hold of the old ones and drag them out every couple of months to see what number they give, unless I ever manage to get my fat % down to a more normal level. It's annoying not being able to do any real exercise, although I've lost 20lb my fat % is still exactly the same.

Well Plum, if you don't want those 20 lbs loss, I will be more than happy to take the loss for youHehehe
It's important that you've taken a step to lose weight and be healthier. Also according to the GL bible, it says that eating low GL foods gives you more muscles and burn fat![]()

LOL Cali don't worry, I am not knocking the 20lb loss and I also appreciate that I feel/look healthier.I think that you're absolutely right that GI/GL gives the best chance to burn fat as opposed to losing muscle compared to other ways of eating!
