Hey guys!
So my name's Lucie and I am THE queen of diets... weight watchers, unislim, cambridge... I have tried them all!! And they work for a while until I fall back into cycling of bingeing and making myself fatter again! I read an article recently on the Harcombe diet and Zoe's personal experience was literally me down to a T and I am so so motivated! I've ordered the book online and it is coming some day this week but I am going to start tomorrow myself because I can't wait any longer! I'll weigh myself in the morning to get my current weight and will let ye know! How is everybody getting on today?? Oh and I have a question.. If I choose to have 35g of porridge and 25g of rice in the same day is that allowed to half each and split them up?? Or do I have to eat my portion of carbs together?
Love,
Lucie x

Hi Lucie - welcome to harcombe :) i'm loving the plan, still relatively new to it but finding it easy enough so far. You can split your carbs as far as i'm aware but it's only 50g per day.... if you like porridge you can do things like cauliflower rice instead for your evening meal. Although i'm finding that carb meals make me hungrier much quicker, fat meals definitely carry you through better! Enjoy it and don't be afraid to embrace it - the opposite is drummed into us for so long but i really enjoyed my chicken, with skin!! the other day lol x

Thank you!!! Ok so I ended up only starting today in the end! So far I have had 2 bacon, 1 egg and half a tomato for breakfast! And I have made vegetable soup so I'm going to have that with some chicken for lunch I think... I was really struggling for the last couple of hours, I keep wanting to eat and telling myself I can start again tomorrow but I know it will never come if I keep thinking like that! Still waiting for my bloody book I was really hoping it would come this morning, fingers crossed for tomorrow! By the way do you know the way you can't have carbs and fats together, do chicken and fish count for fatty foods? cos they are low fat.. but from what I've read online anything 'with a face' can't be eaten with carbs?x

But you can eat, if you are hungry, just only the right things. Don't let yourself be hungry, that's why we fail. Tomorrow will never come though. Go and get some veg sticks to munch on or something similar, i promise the hunger will subside it's just the candida and things trying to get you to eat.

Yes, anything that had a face (animal) or came from a face (dairy) is fats. it's because both carbs and fats have protein so it's just to keep the split simple. It#s explained in the book and there is a print off you can get from the website. Is your book there yet? x

I don't think it is even hunger I just want something sweet.. but feeling much better now I had lovely soup and chicken for lunch and I think I'm having more chicken and lots of leg for dinner :) and i've bought some live natural yoghurt too for tonight if i'm hungry! nope book still hasn't come... praying it will be here tomorrow cos it will really keep me on track! how was your day?? x

Just had my dinner... a chicken fillet, cauliflower and butternut squash chips which were actually amazing! just a bit of olive oil and put them in the oven :) feeling much more motivated now.. my start weight was 14'12 so i'm gonna try my very hardest not to weigh myself until Monday when I will start phase 2!! i have been going through short ten minute phases where I literally want to shove cake in my mouth but after a few minutes they always pass! Hope everyone is having a good day x

That's just the cravings then. Shows you have a sweet tooth and need to avoid it. Sadly so do I lol. My day has been good had rice cereal and skimmed milk for breakfast. Ham stirfry for lunch and just waiting for my butternut squash to roast which I'm having with bolognaise and some cheese. Mmmmm x fingers crossed your book gets here tomorrow then. Have you weighed etc? What day is it today for you d

Ha didnt read this one first. Dinner sounds lovely :) cravings def pass we just need to remember that x

Yes sugar is unfortunately my downfall! I wish I was one of those people that just craved savory stuff but oh well! you seem to be doing great :) i can't wait for phase 2, i have no idea about it yet but when the book comes i'm sure it'll all make sense! have you been exercising?x

No i don't have time to exercise, not easily anyway and i just find that gives added pressure again. The book will explain that exercise isn't necessary for weight loss - as the calorie thoery doens't apply we don't need to get calories out - but obv she recommends it for the health benefits and for toning. TBH i find phase 1 is enough - p2 is nice, sometimes i add a bit of cheese but that's really it. Am still avoiding fruit as i don't want it setting off my sweet tooth - i too am a total sugar addict. But i am enjoying it still and finding it quite liberating, just tucking into my homemade soup followed by a nice ham salad. yum x

yeah i am not going to exercise until phase 2 but even at that i won't be overdoing it cos i know i'll never stick to some crazy gym plan! my book still never came today :( i'm getting a bit worried now as i ordered it a week ago today... i'll email them tomorrow if it isn't here! sounds yummy i need to make myself a big batch of soup tomorrow to keep me going :) so far today I've had 2 bacon, 1 egg and rice with loads of veg and chopped tomatoes it was lovely ! and i'll prob have chicken and veg for dinner :) am i able to have rice cereal on phase 1? they have a gluten free rice porridge in tesco, i had it before and it was quite like rice pudding does it say anything about that in the book?x

No phase 1 is just oats or brown rice Hun. Food sounds lovely again I finished today off with some curry, chicken spinach and BNS with cauliflower rice. Was lovely x

Ooh how did you make the curry? The only one i know is processed in jar haha ;) book still isn't here so emailed the company and they said it is held up in Wales because of the snow and I live in Ieland! sooo annoying I really wanted to have it for the weekend! :/
Had bacon and eggs again today i'm not getting sick of it yet lol :) I can't wait to have that rice porridge on Monday though :D x x

Just had a really late lunch as i had breakfast late too.. I have been pushing my meals on as far as possible because it is always during the evening that I want something to eat, so when i have my mail meal late i'm usually full until bedtime! I had the same lunch as yesterday, brown rice with lots of veg and chopped tomatoes and it is sooo filling!
So I booked a holiday today for the first week in June to Tenerife! I worked out that if I lose 3 lbs a week until then I will be just under 11 stone which is my dream weight... I am 5'8 so a healthy weight for me is 11 stone 12 pounds but I would love to get into the tens! but even if I got around 11 or 11 and a half by then I would be feeling a hell of a lot more confident than I am now! also i'm trying not to obsess about my weight either, more about how i feel. I'm trying to think of it as a lifestlyle change rather than a diet and I know if I start weighing myself everyday I will just get obsessed! Although I think I will in the morning though just to see the result after 3 days! Hope everybody is having a good day! Lots of loveeee xx

Hey I've ordered her new one that came out in Jan 2013 it is called 'why do you overeat when you want to be thin?' or something like that. I think her older one which is just called the harcombe diet is pretty much the same and they explain what it is about. I might get the recipe book in a while but for now I'm happy making recipes with the foods I know I can have :)

So I weighed myself this morning... and in THREE DAYS I have lost SIX POUNDS!!!! I am actually so happy with it! Breakfast was a veggie omelette!! Not craving anything today at all... but feeling quite emotional I don't know if that is part of the process or I'm just having one of those days. My stepdad was being really supportive and saying not to let this be another faddy diet etc and I just hate being under pressure from other people if that makes sense?! My mum only said last week too that I need to start doing something about my weight and I am doing this 100% for myself but I just HATE pressure from others too cos it is hard enough as it is. So I got quite upset but feeling ok now! How is everyone doing today?xx

Are you doing the Harcombe diet too Roxanne? :) x

Hi Lucie, I'm the number one diet 'starter' so my family are probably sick of me too! Having said that, its only ever been the slimming world plan I've done, so I'm an every Monday diet starter! ha

This is the first time I've actually bought a book on the science behind diet.

Anyway, I wasn't able to get to the shops until quite late today, so I've started Phase 2. I know this is a bit naughty, but I was kind of stuck.

I've been a bit emotional today too - quite wound up actually, not sure if its due to the diet, or just general fed upness!

I made a batch of lentil soup that I had for a late lunch out of desperation literally (carb meal) and then I've just put a chicken breast and roasted veg in the oven.

So my day has been

2 boiled eggs breakfast (fat)
50g porridge made with water (carb) - although at this point I was still hoping to complete day 5
Then I had the lentil soup (carb)
Now I'm about to have chicken, roasted onion, toms and peppers and side salad.

I'll check my weight again Monday just in case this has caused any bad effects - I doubt missing the last day will cause too much damage.

I've also been looking at sugars in foods and carbs that turn into sugars in foods. I'm hoping to avoid these foods as much as possible. I just want to know how many grams of carb sugar is classes as ok. -------just found out 5g of Carbohydrates (of which sugars) per 100g is classes as low!

xxx

Well done on the fantastic loss! Ignore your family, and just go on and prove you can do it!
