New Year, New Me: Healthy Eating

Thought I'd start a diary to record my new healthy eating plan. Well a little about me...

I'm 25 and looking to improve my diet to become healthier and also lose weight. I joined WW in 2011 weighing in at 13stone 1lb and got to 10stone 7lbs which I maintained for 2 years. I then got the implant in earlier this year and gained 1stone 7lbs so got it back out in November and now looking to get this extra weight back off for summer starting.

I know WW works for me but I really don't want to be pointing and weighing things again so as of 06/01/2014 I intend to cut out junk food, eat more healthily and up my exercise.

Hoping to meet people with the same plan to hopefully swap ideas and suggestions etc.

Good luck Claire :) You are taking the most sensible approach to weight loss and it will serve you well I bet!

Thanks BerryBerry! Just want to be sensible about it and hopefully it all becomes second nature.

Well first day of Healthy Eating and back at work:

B: 30g honey loops with semi skimmed milk.

L: (above) Tuna with sweetcorn, cucumber and tomatoes with a little mayo, a Babybel, apple, kiwi and banana salad and angel delight.

D: Chicken casserole with carrots and peas.

W: 1.3 litres.

Overall quite pleased with today and long may it continue.

That lunchbox is awesome! I love things compartmentalised :)

Thanks, I got it on Saturday to help with portion control since the tubs are pretty small. Do you have a diary?

Day 2:

B: 30g honey loops and semi-skimmed milk.

L: Tuna with sweetcorn, carrots and cucumber with mayo, chicken and leek slim-a-soup, kiwi and grapes.

D: Pork chops with turnip, carrots, peas and a little gravy.

W: 1.4 litres.

Love your lunches, love the lunch box more....where did you get it from? Is it a brand???

I've toyed with getting the implant....a little put off now!

Good luck :)

Hi, it's a brand called laptop lunches but I just bought it from amazon. Really has helped with portion sizes for lunch.

I know people who have loved the implant but it just wasn't for me so you may get it and be absolutely fine. Please don't let my experience out you off. My doctor said 1/3 of women are fine on it, another 1/3 need help at the start with also taking the pill then the final third just don't agree with it.

Thanks are you still doing WW? x

Day 3:

L: 2 Boiled Eggs, Babybel, Tomatoes with mayo, Broccoli and Cauliflower cup-a-soup, Kiwi and Grapes.

D: Homemade Chilli con Carne with rice.

W: 1.4 Litres.

Will have to check out amazon!

I'm umming & aaahing about contraception at the moment, swaying between implant & iud, just fed up with the pill!!

Not on WW anymore, like you I can't be bothered counting etc... I'm not really doing anything food wise atm, trying to increase my exercise & fitness & hoping I therefore won't have to diet!! Although trying to eat less processed food, or rather food I haven't prepared. So sandwiches/crisps at work are off & homemade salads/soups are on!! But that takes preparation, so we shall see ;)

I ordered it on the Wednesday and received it on the Saturday so delivery was pretty quick too.

I was the exact same as you, been on the pill for 6 years with no problems at all. GP persuaded me to give the implant a go. It didn't work so she prescribed my usual pill, which gave me horrendous mood swings, took me off that and put me on a different pill which had no effect then put me on a different pill yet again which brought back the mood swings but just not as bad this time. I put on weight and had bad headaches so got it taken back out and touch wood I've been fine ever since. So weird how hormones in the pill are fine with me but the implant just didn't suit me. You can only give it a go and if it doesn't work just get it out again, nothing ventured nothing gained.

I'm the same, the thought of pointing forever just isn't appealing to me at all. I'm normally good outside of work but having a desk job in a lovely office where's there's always biscuits so I'm sticking to only eating what's in my lunchbox and so far it's worked but it may just be I'm a little sick of chocolate from over the festive period hehe.

What exercise are you doing because I've done nothing! Hoping to increase my walking and start cycling again if the rain ever stops for long enough!

I think I'll get one on pay day - expensive month this month!!

It is tricky finding something right for you, think I may try the coil first & see where I go from there...

I've sent off my form to compete in a 'fun' triathlon - 200m swim : 20k bike : 2.5k run, so just rejoined the gym and will mostly be training in those disciplines. I'll just run outside, can't stand the treadmill, but will mix up the rides with spin & road cycling. Also going to set up a gym program tomorrow just for toning, I'd like a little definition & strength!!! The rain is terrible isn't it?? I thought about going for a little jog this morning & the rain totally put me off!! Still we should just get out & do it ;)

How was your day?

You got a lot on this month?

Yup you won't know for sure till you try it out.

Well done, when is your fun triathlon? Are you doing it yourself? That sounds like a great plan and varied so you shouldn't get bored very much. I had a treadmill and sold it last year because I much preferred jogging outside, don't fancy the gym much either so good on you!

I know we should just get on with it but it's the thought of the freezing cold rain then having to come home soaked through :( my day was good thanks, work dragged a little but it's one day closer to the weekend! How was your day?

Expensive because I'm studying part time & have course fees going out before pay day which basically equal what I have in my account right now!!!! So no spending till pay day!

Yep after a hard days work the last thing you want to do is go out in the cold dark & wet, especially on a bike with some of the drivers about!

My day was ok - ate too much!! On that note, weren't you hungry yesterday?? If need more than fish fingers & veg for my tea!!

It's nearly the weekend :)

Oh that's not so good, is pay day much longer after paying your fees? I'm going to try save this year, or so I keep telling myself!

To be fair there's been quite a few cyclists that are on the road at night wearing black and no lights at the back! I know I eventually seen them but others wouldn't and just hit them. It's silly when all they need is a high vis vest and a back light.

No I wasn't hungry, to be fair we were trying to use up the fish fingers so had 6 of them instead of the normal 2 lol.

The weekend is here and I'm so tired! Think I'll have a quick power nap before heading out :) any plans?

Power nap sounds good!! It's getting back into the whole thing after Christmas, hard work! What are you up to tonight/this weekend?? I've nothing planned, apart from assignment writing :(

Oh I hate cyclists who don't have lights, cycle on the wrong side of the road, skip lights etc... They give the rest of us a bad name!

Pay day is 3 days after fee payment day, but it means I can't spend anything till then...hey ho, it's a good thing, stops me spending!!

I know and it being a full week back this time instead of just a couple of days. Power nap definitely helped :D

No plans really, just see where the mood takes me and how the weather is! It's quite nice but cold right now. Should your assignment writing take you long?

I know it's just not safe then if they get hit it's the drivers fault even though they couldn't see them to last minute :( I don't tend to cycle on roads, I just don't trust it to be honest.

I suppose that's not too bad with payday only 3 days after, but not great that you can't spend from now till then lol!

Inah it's fine on the spending front, I need to curb it a little. And I'm very fortunate, I'm married so have plenty of support of all kinds from husband, it just means I can't spend money on myself!!! Never a bad thing, I need to learn some restraint!

Went out to an rspb reserve for a walk and look at the birds today as it was a beautiful day, how about you??

Yea I know what you mean but if your anything like my mum and dad they are always spending their money on each other and not themselves lol I'm doing not too bad so far on the saving, let's see how long it lasts though :)

I also went out a walk on Saturday with my mum and dog because it was so nice, very cold though! Part of the path still had ice on it then yesterday wasn't so nice so we went round bathroom shops in an industrial estate. What did you do yesterday? Then today was back to work :(

Wasn't so good food wise over the weekend but that's fine as long as I'm good during the week. How you getting on?
