Kay's Journey on The Eat to Live Plan
Hi Everyone ,
It's the 1st February, so a new start and a new plan for me !
I'm excited to be starting Dr Fuhrmans Eat To Live Plan. It is quite a strict plan, its almost a vegan diet. It will take me time to convert 100%, I intend to convert slowly and try my best each week to eat healthy.
The Book :- (If anyone is interested in the plan, you can purchase the book from amazon online)
A little about the plan :-
The Eat to Live Plan shows that if you eat foods that are high in nutrients and low in calories, you can eat more and feel fuller for longer.
On this plan, you cut down on some carbs (bread, pasta), sugar, and oil. You also quit meat and dairy for at least 6 weeks, and eat more whole fruits, vegetables, beans and other legumes, and whole grains.
What You Can Eat and What You Can't:
In unlimited quantities, you may eat:
- Raw veggies
- Steamed or cooked green vegetables, eggplant, mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cauliflower, and more
- Beans and other legumes. Fuhrman suggests eating 1 cup daily to benefit fully from the fiber and resistant starch, which helps you feel full and passes through the intestine without being digested.
- At least four fresh fruits per day, but no juice. You can have frozen fruit, but not canned. You can use dried fruit sparingly, as a sweet accent.
In limited quantities, you may eat:
- 1 cup per day of cooked starchy vegetables or whole grains (winter squash, corn, potatoes, rice, bread, cereal)
- 1 ounce per day of raw nuts and seeds
- 2 ounces per day of avocado (1/5 of a medium avocado is 1 ounce)
- 2 tablespoons per day of dried fruit
- 1 tablespoon per day of ground flaxseed
- Dairy products
- Animal products
- Snacks between meals
- Fruit juice
- Processed foods
Limitations: This is a very restrictive diet. You will be eating tons of vegetables at most meals, with some fruit, some legumes, and a limited amount of starch at one meal. You will not eat meat, dairy, sugar, or oil at all on the initial 6-week plan. After you complete the first 6 weeks, you may reintroduce fat-free dairy, meat, fish, refined carbs, and olive oil in very small amounts. If you don't add the animal products back in, you will need to get supplemental vitamin B12, vitamin D, and potentially also an omega-3 fatty acid supplement.

My New Beginning to a healthier and happier me .
I will be starting from tomorrow and will weigh myself in the morning. Although I am ment to cut out meat completely for the first 6 weeks and dairy I will try my best, I know its going to be hard but even if I manage 80% I will be happy for being healthier .
I don't know if I am strong enough to be completely vegan, although time will tell, I know a lot of people that have converted at first thought that they couldn't . I was quiet surprised in the supermarket to see such a wide variety of products available for vegans, found it really exciting .
I have done my food shopping for the week and will be posting my daily eats from tomorrow, I will be posting some yummy pics too .
My weightloss results
I have decided to opt out of challenges for now and will just post my weightloss on here weekly .
I hope you all find your way to my diary, I need all the support I can get. You guys have always been fantastic in supporting me in whatever I do, thanks for that I really appreciate it and I hope to kick some butt this time ! No really I do .
Hope you all have a fantastic week. Will try and catch up on diaries soon. Love to you all .
Wow, that is quite restrictive but you sound fired up and ready to do battle.... and I know you will do your very best. As you say, even if you don't manage it 100% at first, that is better than not starting at all.
The only problem I can see is.... er, to put it delicately.... or not, Wind! lol All those beans and veg hehe but will look forward to hearing how it goes. Good luck hun, and enjoy it! xx
L you found me ! hehe

There are some aspects which are similar to SW, I guess eating unlimited fruit and veg is like free food. But yes its more like a vegan diet. Its going to be packed with nutrients so I don't want to achieve numbers on a scale, I'm hoping it will show in my skin, hair and nails and knock 10 years off me ! ok 5 will do lol.
