    Let's do this thing

Hello I've decided to keep a diary so I can record what I'm doing, having and how I'm feeling to help my weight loss journey. Please feel free to comment, ask questions or suggest things, I won't bite. Promise

I've dabbled in lots of different diets in the past and I keep gaining and losing the same 2 stone and a bit over and over. My wardrobe consists of clothes of sizes 8 to 14 and at the moment I'm in between 12 and 14. My goal is to get to a size 10 and maintain.

It turns out it's been just over 2 years since I first joined Herbalife. I try a bit of Herbalife, stray, go on different diets, lose weight, gain weight and then come back to Herbalife again and again. My Herbalife coach said she last spoke to me about starting again in April 2012 which is just over a year ago and round about the same time as now. My internal clock must think spring time = Herbalife time lol

So anyway, I contacted my coach earlier this week about starting, again. According to her records, April last year I was about the same weight as now. Jeez. Talk about yo-yoing all over the place! Last time I think I got bored of the shakes and didn't make an effort so went off it. This time I think I'll try and be creative with my shakes. Try new recipes and that.

On Tuesday I had shakes for breakfast and lunch, main meal in the evening. Didn't feel too good. Too much liquid/fluid during the day time so I swapped and started having shakes for breakfast and dinner, main meal for lunch. Although it's only been two days doing that (three days in total so far), I feel much better. My bum doesn't feel like it's "there" or "following me around" so much. I'm going to have Friday as my weigh in and measure day though. That's tomorrow. Yikes!

For my height, weight, eating habits etc, I'm supposed to have 82g of protein a day, 2.5litres of water and my metabolic rate is 1132 so I should really aim to have less than that a day if I want to lose weight. If I wanted to see results really quickly, cut out all carbs such as rice, pasta, potato, bread etc and don't have too much fruit. I don't think I'm going to count calories, I tend to get a bit obsessive if counting and measuring is involved so just sensible eating and less naughty food.

I have multivitamins and minerals that I take already so will finish those before getting the Herbalife ones. So at the moment, just the Formula 1 shakes (I have several different flavours), Formula 3 Personalised Protein Powder (for extra protein) and the Protein snack bars (peanut flavour) from Herbalife.

For dinner tonight I had a shake made up of F1 Vanilla (two Tbsp), F3 (one Tbsp), 150ml water, 75ml pineapple juice, 75ml Koko coconut milk and a couple of handfuls of spinach. Whizzed it with my stick blender and voila! That was one nice, refreshing shake! More like juice than a thick milk shake. I will definately be having that again. I might have to invest in a blender though. There was only so much I could squeeze in!

I have vanilla and cappuccino at work which I mix with either soy milk or semi skimmed milk. Sometimes just one flavour on its own and sometimes half and half. I put it in one of those shakers and shake shake shake At least in the evenings when I get home I have a bit more time to be creative with the second shake, if I can be bothered!

First official WI says I'm 70.9kg this morning. When I weighed myself on Tuesday, I was 71.5kg and then I started on the shakes. It's not been a full week yet but I've lost 0.6kg (1.3lb). Which doesn't seem like much but that's the lowest I got to when I attempted Atkins recently. I am a bit of a serial weigher but I'll try not to weigh myself everyday. Measurements have gone down overall by 2cm as well so all in all happy

I think I need to play with the boundaries to see what we can and cant do if you know what I mean. My trouble is that I am far too strict and that inevitably sends me the other way! Do you put fruit in your shakes? I havent done before but I'm thinking I might get some vanilla F1 shake and add some frozen raspberries into it?

My distributor also told me that as a snack I could had 1.5 spoons for F1 shake to fat free Greek yoghurt or natural yoghurt which I am going to try today. Im not a fan of the protein bars, I have to force myself to eat them which isnt great! x

I've tried F1 vanilla with blueberries and soy milk/semi skimmed milk. That was nice too. Coach said if I want fruit I should stick to berries and if I really wanted something else, not so sweet fruit like apples and pears. Nono to bananas or grapes. If I get really bored of shakes then I could put half a banana in and blend it and keep the other half in the freezer for next time.

I agree that if you restrict yourself too much, it sends you the other way so I'm going to try not to be like that this time. Need a bit of balance

I haven't tried the F1 with just yogurt but I'd imagine that would be nice. I know some people actually put some yogurt in their shakes as well. I struggle with the protein bars too but I've got them so might as well have them. Don't think I'll be buying them again!

Have you tried the tomato soup? That's quite nice too and I see they've brought in a new snack - roasted soy beans. Must try those at some point.

Ahhh I must get the soy beans then. I'm making a list of things to order so I'll include the beans. Strangely looking forward to them!

The only time I used water was with fruit juice to dilute it a bit.
