Not only does green tea contain half the caffeine of coffee but green tea also reduces your chance of getting cancer.

Green tea contains antioxidant called catechins. These powerful antioxidants not only lower LDL cholesterol level but rid the body of free radicals (unstable molecules that damage cells). Free radicals when left undisturbed contribute to the growth of cancer cells.

Many studies have shown green tea to reduce the risk of cancer and even help prevent the spread of cancer for patients already diagnosed with cancer.

The health benefits of green tea are many and the major benefits are highlighted below.
Cancer fighting potential in green tea is 100 times more effective than vitamin C.

Green tea is 25 times more effective than vitamin E in blocking cell mutation that cause cancer.

1 cup of green tea provides the same amount of antioxidants as 1 to 2 servings of vegetables.

Green tea contains almost twice as much cancer protection antioxidants than an 8-ounce glass of orange juice.

Green tea is a great supplement to vegetables for cancer protection.

Also
Green tea and green tea extracts, such as its component EGCG, have been used to prevent and treat a variety of cancers, including breast, stomach, and skin cancers.
Green tea and green tea extracts have also been used for improving mental alertness, aiding in weight loss, lowering cholesterol levels, and protecting skin from sun damage.

are we allowed green tea with a sweetner on Sole Source Cambridge Diet?

wow, thanks for this info, I am going to make one right now :)

Green Tea was suggested to my Sister when she had Breast Cancer by her Chemo Sister who highly recommended it. Not only is it supposed to help you lose weight it is one of the finest antioxidants there is. Now my Sister is having treatment for Lung Cancer, unfortunately a left over bit from the Breast one but her Consultant reckons that because of the Green Tea her Liver is in such excellent condition she can take just a tablet form of medication for it rather than Chemo. I buy our Green Tea, with Lemon, from Lidl's who does a nice range at good prices, so treat it like a normal Lemon Tea, no milk and sugar/substitute if you must sweeten it. A slice of fresh Lemon is really good as well, and a jug of it in the fridge is a super zero calorie cold drink. My Sis and I also take Green Tea tablets twice a day from a reputable health and vitamin Internet supplier, we once tried Holland n Barret's' but they were not as good.

It's another thing which is good for you but is an acquired taste.I drink it for a while but then drift back to black tea with milk which I find more palatable. After reading these posts I think I'd better give it another try.

i drink green tea not only to help with weightloss but to get over my addiction of white tea.... i used to drink up to 8 cups of white tea a day and have recently changed that to 2 cups gotta have a morning and night cup...
i also get my green tea from lidls as they are induvially wrapped which means i shove a few in my bag and im off lol

i still would like to cut white tea out totally and have green in the morning too but im finding this the toughest time to switch

oooh i love green tea, i drink about 4 cups a day of it :D

I didn't like plain green tea but found some with cranberry and it's delicious! just gotta drink it more often, I am still too fond of coffee!

The benefits of Green tea are legendary Green Tea Health Benefits but I take tables as I so love my strong black coffee. There are many varying qualities of tablets but the one that I get from here: Green Tea Tablets - 340mg Standardised Extract | Vitamins & Supplements from Healthspan they are not in capsules so you can see that the tablets are just compressed green tea, in fact in this form you could if you wanted make a cuppa from them.

However short of pennies I always get me and my Sisters supply, for my Sis cos she is on Chemo and the consultant said they are really beneficial to her as she can't drink enough Tea to help and for me as I find it stops my water retention in my ankles.

I don't know about any weight loss benefits, other than helping with water retention but health benefits are undeniable IMO.

I have only just started drinking Green Tea - I hate black tea and coffee and a friend gave me some and I enjoyed it.
Bought some green tea t-bags and they were a waste of money, absolutely no taste whatsoever so now bought some good leaf tea and a tea making mug. The mug has a holder which fits on the top of the mug and you put the leaves in then top up with hot water and put on the lid and leave for a couple of minutes.
I make it then leave it to go cold then add lots of ice - really good.

I have just bought some green tea tablets. Anyone taken these? I am thinking of the health benefits, not the diet benefits moreso.

My sister was advised by a Nurse to drink green tea when she had breast cancer and as she always drank weak black tea it was no hardship for her to change but I love my coffee so I now get for my Sister n me these ones Green Tea Tablets - 340mg Standardised Extract | Vitamins & Supplements from Healthspan as we tried cheaper ones and noticed the difference, these ones are just pressed green tea, you can see that.

I used to suffer badly with swollen ankles but after taking 2 of these per day I have really shapely skinny ankles. My Sister has since got Lung cancer and when she was first diagnosed, last year, her liver tests were so healthy that she didn't have to have chemo she could take a tablet instead. As a joke we asked the Doctor to take a 2nd lot of tests and when she asked why we explained that as a family we were all very fond of our wine, something that my Sister had taught us :) when we mentioned the Green Tea tablets she said that would explain it as it was one of the finest antioxidants there is! Now all the family takes them, I don't think they help with weight loss but they do help your liver as this year I had tests myself before an Operation and mine was healthy too.
