Hi, I did Howard's way in 1997. I lost just over 5 stones and never felt so good. Since then, I haven't done too badly. When I gain some weight, they help by going through what I am doing wrong and try and get me back on track.
I am now doing full TFR (Total Food Replacement) for 6 weeks, as I really did start slipping back into my bad habits. So wish me luck!! Anyone out there that has done this, I would be really happy to hear how you are getting on. I don't feel too bad, as I only have 1 1/2 stones to lose. Should be done in a few weeks fingers crossed.

Welcome Holly to MiniMins:welcome:

Congratulations on your weight loss and well done for keeping most of it off:happy096:

Not sure if there are any other members here doing Howard's Way as this is a new forum and you are the first to post in it:)

Best of luck with TFR for six weeks and I will be looking forward to see how you get on.

Hello Mini,
Thank you for your lovely message, it was really good to see someone had sent a post through on the thread. I must say I was surprised to see no forum for Howard's Way, but maybe now some may come through. when I go to my meeting I will tell them.
I will try and do the weight ticker..........wish me luck!

Hello Holly..

I did HW by post back in 2006 and lost 8 stone on it....however sadly gained it all back plus some so am now back on the shakes that I had left over plus have ordered the packs from Exante to carry on with when I run out of HW shakes. I didn't really get the support as it was by post and as soon as I started eating again I just went crazy despite having my wedding to focus on! Now have a holiday to Jamaica booked for the end of the year so that is my focus. Been on it almost 4 weeks now and lost 20lbs so all's going in the right direction. How are you getting on?

Hi Holly, good to see a Howard's way thread, been browsing on MiniMins a few times but never felt like posting as don't know much about the other diets on here.

I did HW 2 years ago, lost just over 4 stones and have managed to maintain (more or less) since then. Good luck with the bit you have to lose, keep us updated with how you get on.

Hello everyone,
So sorry I haven't replied before, but had trouble with my computer, but all seems to be working now, so fingers crossed. I think it was the thought of doing a weight ticker....scary.... but I am going to have a go when I finish this message.
I have done really well, I have lost 6 pounds already! BUT! I do know most of it will be fluid, but hey 6 pounds is 6 pounds. I think where you get weighed and checked a lot, it keeps you focused and makes it easier to keep to.

Ladygaga:- lovely to hear from you, fellow Howard's Way dieter. I cannot say well done enough! 8 stones, that is amazing! Well done you! You must have felt fantastic when you finished?
I am really surprised that you didn't get the support on your diet by post. My friend who lives in Newcastle, saw me and ended up doing the diet by post and did really well and we compared notes. She said she had brilliant support, so was really sorry you didn't get the same.

Karen67 - Hello there, I am so happy to have replies. I was really worried about doing the posts and if I am trueful I wasn't actually sure how to post, so got some help from the MiniMins team. I thought nobody would reply, so I was delighted to see I had some response.
Well done you on your weight loss and maintaing so well. Keep up the good work!

Hello Mini,

Hopefully I have done this right, if I have thank you very much!

If I haven't.............I will try again.

They say I have to post again to see the ticker..........so here's hoping!!

Howard's Way diet first ticker on minimins...........imagine a brass band.....

Well done Holly, that's a great start! Keep me updated as to how you do and make sure you go along for your pop ins when you finish, they really help me and hopefully they will you, too. :)

Hi Karen and Holly- lovely to hear from you both. Well done Holly on getting the ticker sorted too- I had a go but sadly mine looks a lot more daunting loss wise than yours does. Well done on the 6lbs so far- fab news. Karen- excellent news on maintaining your loss too- that is truly incredible.

I'm now on week 5 and have lost 1stone 7lbs now and that's with having 6 meals (high proterin, zero carb) on 6 occassions too. I feel OK too and haven't had too many of the side effects like the last time.

Loosing the weight the last time was such a strange experience for me to be honest. Everyone was telling me I looked fantastic when I really felt awful! Near the end when i still had a stone to go my 2 closest friends told me how dreadful I looked and made me eat! Think I had just let myself go to far to be honest. I'm quite a shy person anyway so having people talk about my weight loss was really hard for me as I didn't want to draw attention to myself. This time I have only told my closest friends to try and limit this. This probably sounds really weird but I really did find that the hardest part about the plan! Instead of saving up my money for clothes this time round- I'm saving it for some cognitive behavioural therapy for when I'm getting near target to help overcome this and to try and help me from not gaining again!

Hope everyone is having a good day- I'm on a night shift with just water and black coffee for company!!
xx

Hi Karen and Ladygaga,
It's really nice getting posts back, I find I am actually looking forward to reading them.

Thank you Karen, I will keep posting my weight loss and give regular updates.

Ladygaga, I am so sorry you had such a bad time. I had a lady in my original group who was getting pressure from their friends to eat as I think they worry because you lose it so quickly, but thankfully they were able to put them in there place, but it can be hard. Our locum, never actually gave us a goal weight, they used to say, wait until you look in the mirror and are happy with what you see. I wonder sometimes if people get a bit jealous. My friend who did another diet, used to get quite ratty with me, because people were eating in her groups and she ended up giving up after 8 weeks, where as I did all my weight loss in one go and have kept it off (obviously with there help). I am back on for a while until I get my weight down (15 pounds to go!). So don't be bullied into stopping this time, I will support you where ever possible and I am sure Karen will too.
Keep up the good work! as water along with Black coffee, makes a slimmer girl for Jamaica.

Hi ladies.....happy wednesday!!

Thanks for the advice Holly. Looking in the mirror and being happy is certainly a very good point. Goal weights are a difficult thing. I always had the figure of 10 stone in my head last time which still would have been on the higher end of my BMI. The lowest I got to was 10 stone 10lbs and that made me a size 12 something I had never been in my life. My GP was really supportive and said I looked fab as I was and wouldn't advise me to go any lower, however he did say that the irony was that if I was a new patient going to see him that he would be advising me to lose weight as my BMI was 25.7 which still made me overweight! Really daft indeed!

This time round I'm just going to see how I feel. Truth is I'm not a miserable fatty- I have nice clothes, happy husband and life seems OK- I'd just like to feel a bit better and definitely look better in a bikini in Jamaica!!

So what's inspiring you Karen and Holly to keep on track?

Great to hear from you both too- it's lovely to keep getting the comments back xx

Hi again Lady Gaga, just read your post on this thread. Glad Holly's advice helped, I know when I lost my weight some people I knew found it hard to accept I was now slimmer than they were, when it had been the other way round for years. They kept telling me I looked too slim when I just wanted to make sure I was in a good place before I started my refeeding. The Howard's Way diet people really helped me through that, it was great.
What keeps me going and not going on a splurge too often is the thought of my summer holiday, off to Spain in July so don't want to be like a thunderthighs in a pair of shorts or breathing in all the time round the pool!;)
You're doing brilliantly with your weight, by the way, well done you!

Thanks for the comments Karen- was really scared about doing a ticker, especially as I have so far to go but it does spur me on a little. Your holiday sounds like a great incentive and I bet you will look AMAZING! Thunderthighs I am sure you are not!!! I'm dertemined to get in a bikini and look half decent in it so am holding onto that thought...long way off tho but am determined to get there xx

Hello there Ladies,

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, but been so busy.

The really great news is I have lost another 4 pounds which means I have now lost ......wait for it......10 pounds :) I am over the moon. The problem I have and was hoping you could help me Ladygaga is, I don't know how to change my ticker. I was all excited and ready to do it, but no joy!
Actually, i have just had a thought, so I will go away and see if I can do it.
Both ladies, keep up the good work and hopefully be back in a mo. If I don't come back today with a ticker, it just means I am useless!
Love Holly.

Hello again ladies,

As the saying goes......not as easy as I thought.......then it turned out ok, but glad I don't have to do another one for a few days.
How is everyone getting on? I don't post for a few days and then I go and do loads.
Keep up the good work and will post again, later today or tomorrow.
Love Holly.X

Just posting a quick reply to say well done Holly, great going with your weight loss!
Think I have done okay at the weekend, back to 2 TFR's and a sensible meal now it's Monday again and going along for my weigh in tomorrow, will keep you updated with my progress then. Love Karen. xx:)

Help....how do you update the ticker? I've had WI today and need to do mine too!!! You're far cleverer than me Holly!!

Woo hoo!!! Done it.

Well done Holly on your amazing loss this week- fab news indeeedy! You must be thrilled! Sorry I couldn't chat last night but hubbie was waiting to watch law and order with me so had to get off the computer (would have preferred chatting on here tho!)

I had my end of week 5 WI yesterday and lost 5lbs so am feeling rather chuffed with myself too! Clothes are now starting to feel looser and can definitely see a difference in some areas which is a nice feeling. No friends have commented yet which for me is the real outward sign that I'm losing but that doesn't bother me. Hopefully should have another good week so am motivated, geared up and ready for my TFR's!

Happy tuesday ladies xx

Good luck Karen with your WI today too- you will have to get yourself a diet tracker as well xx
