Hello! 4 Stone to lose, just finished my first week at slimming world...

Hi There,

As the title says I have just finished my first week at SW, unfortunately I had to work late so missed my first weigh in so I'm not entirely sure if I have lost anything, as on my scales said I was 6 pounds lighter than the scales at the group :mad:!

I have been sticking to the plan except for a little over indulgence of RUM on Saturday night!

I want to loose 4 stone, I am due to be a brides maid in July along with 8 other girls, and its no fun being the biggest one.
It was horrible going to try on the dresses, it was quite clear whose tent that it was on the end of the row!

The last time I was a bridesmaid I wore two pairs of magic pants and couldn't bend over, i felt like i had an ironing board stuck down my knickers!
I really want to be able to feel comfortable this time, im not expecting miracles but I need to feel for my own sake that I have at least tried.

Anyway, I got myself down to slimming world as clearly I cant lose weight and keep it off on my own, and the idea of a support group really appeals to me.
I came across this site searching for how many syns were in a wispa :rolleyes: ( 12!) and saw that this might be a good place to chat with like minded ladies facing similar situations too me.

So, here I am!

If anyone else is on slimming world, or not would be lovely to hear from you!

I am also new to the forum but not new to sw. I lost 2 stone last year doing it online at home and I'm now back on it. trying to lose another 2 stone.

Good Luck. I'm sure you'll be looking and feeling great by the time you are bridesmaid.

I too stumbled across this fab site by accident, it's a great place for SW as they do not have a dedicated forum like Weightwatchers do, so this is definately the place to find out more!

Well done on doing your first week, don't worry about missing the weigh in, just keep going and your loss next week will be fantastic I'm sure!! If there is another meeting near you, you could always go to it instead.

I am going to a wedding in July and that is keeping me focussed right now!

Yes i figured that if i can lose two pounds a week untill july then thats almost 2 stone! a big difference!

I was a little bit naughty today, but not overly so ( it involved a mini chocolate brownie and a mini cheese burger)

them being such small portions made me feel a whole lot better!

how do you guys find the not drinking so much?
I do struggle with that bit as I go to lots of events with work, do you think it will impact my weight loss a great deal?

on the plus side, according to my scales I have lost 6 pounds! HOORAY!

Hello :) if you are able to go to group and stay i feel that really helps to see other peoples progress and discuss the ways they have lost or indeed gained etc. It's always good i find not to look at my scales all the time although if yours read differently then you can still monitor loss because regardless of what it says if it is lower you have still lost :) hope this helps
 
hahaha about the magic pants and ironing board inside your bridesmaid dress! 3 years ago I managed to get myself down to a size 10 on top and 12 on bottom... for a week - for my sisters wedding... then I started really eating again and put on at least a millllllllion dress sizes over the past 3 yrs. that was the smallest I've EVER been and now this is the biggest!


GOOOOOOOd luck!! I just ate a bit of galaxy easter egg and I REALLY shouldnt have done because Im still stuffed from tea but never mind eh!
 
Haha welcome to SW. In my 6 weeks experience ;) most the people I've come across in group have lost decent amounts so I feel confident for you. 2lbs a week is a realistic loss so hopefully you'll be feeling fantastic at 2st lighter in July.

How annoying to miss the weigh in Im always really desperate to see what the scales say at the end of the week - good or bad I just wanna know! It's lame they didn't weigh you after group :(

I've also been wondering about how much alcohol affects the diet. I haven't stopped myself bingeing.. just moved to vodka/gin & slimline(ew!)/diet coke (4 syns). So far it hasn't seemed to stop me loosing... and I definitely exceed the 15 syns (It's probably more like 150 by the time i crawl home). Strangely I always find myself to feel lighter the morning after?! so I'm still not sure but don't intend to hold myself back from a good time too much until I can see it's definitely impacting my loss. They do say at group as long as you continue to count ur syns then ur still in control?! so maybe thats what works. I make a little tally on my phone and count it up the next day when my minds clearer ;) another tip is to allow yourself certain amount of syns for certain events, eg. cocktail party - 50. That way you're still technically in control. :S :D

ps. I hope your mini chocolate brownie was nice It sounds yuuuuuuummy (apart from the mini part!) & 12 syns for a wispa!!.. ouch. I always think of bubbly chocolate as the lighter choice chocolate. Very cheeky. On that note, if any ones aware of any low syn chocolate indulgences... let me know :eek:
 
apparenty malteasers are good low syns but I dont remember what the values are :S
 
Hi and welcome, I'm also doing sw and am motivated to lose weight for my wedding next year, I am sure that you will have lost some this week if you have pretty much stuck to plan. I would also aim for a 2lb a week loss, any more is a bonus. Maybe look at doing the 30 day shred as that will really help with toning and inch loss. Good luck and hope to see you around the boards.
 
Good luck with SW. Is there another class you could go to when you can't make it to your own rather than miss a week.

Beware 30 day shred!! Make sure u don't over do it!! I did level 1 for 12 days - pulled a rib muscle - couldnt excersize for about 3 weeks in agony and then all the extra muscle weight I put on just made me balloon when I couldn't keep toning! I'm sure it's ok if u dont go from no excersize to killing yourself every day though. X

Well, I lost 6 pounds, everyone was VERY impressed, then I went away for 5 days to vist my boyfriends family in wales and managed to put 3 pounds back on!
I didnt even really GO for it either, I just had to eat what was put in front of me, as they already think im the snotty one from London!

I do think I have lost the 3 again though, but its just frustrating thinking that If i hadnt done that then i could potentially be 9 pounds down.

I have changed one thing though, i have started RUNNING!
Well, I went last night and now my bum is killing me, but I tracked my route on a website and it said i managed 2.4 miles :) it took me an hour of jogging untill i couldnt breath then walking then jogging again but I am feeling really good about it today :)
I am going swimming this evening too!
Even though I do sometimes go over my 'syns' sometimes the rest of the changes I have made to my diet are deffo adding up- IE
not drenching everything in butter, mayo or cheese!
Even if i just made that change im sure that it would make a difference.
