Hi I'm Emily!
I've joined on here in order to get a little extra support and motivation to lose weight. I've done diets in the past, and generally give up after a few months! :(!

I'm currently on the Slimming World diet and hope to lose around 5 or more stone!
I'm starting University in September, and I hope to lose around 2 stone by then! So that I can buy some new clothes and not look so frumpy to others :). I also wish to lose another stone or so for when I start placements (which will be around January/February) so that I am comfortable in my uniform!

I mostly do red days, as I find if you cut out the carbohydrates you lose the most weight. In my first week of returning the Slimming World diet I have lost 7 lbs! I diet throughout the week, and allow myself to have a treat on the weekend :). Whether it be a night out with my friends, or a meal/takeaway with my partner.

I don't really do much exercise, but I am looking into buying the EA Active Sports 2 game for the PS3. Or potentially buying Playstation Move & getting the Zumba fitness game! If anyone has any experience of using these; please let me know if they are any good, or if you have something better and similar to suggest :).

Hi Emily

I'm new to this site too & also would ideally like to lose 5 stone.

Congratulations on a fantastic first week's weight loss. I bet you were chuffed :) Sounds like you are fully motivated & sure you will reach your target.

Roberta.

Well done on your first week, I have a Wii fit, it's so much fun, I compete for high scores with the kids, usually lose but I'm unbeatable at the hula hooping!

Hi Emily, I'm also doing Slimming World and would like to lose about 4 stone. Well done on your first week's loss, that's brilliant? What course are you ding at uni in September?

I haven't tried any of the fitness games on the PlayStation but have the Zumba Party DVD, it's great fun!

I would really like the Zumba for the Wii, but I have no coordination so I know I'll be ridiculously bad at it!

I have no co-ordination either! I did try the Zumba classes but it was just embarrassing! I was always about three moves behind everybody else! The DVD is good because there is a tutorial bit at the beginning that breaks the moves down into simple steps ( although I must admit I did have to keep rewinding some bits but then I am really, really unco-ordinated )

I thought that maybe when I've learned the steps a bit so I'm more confident and lost some weight so I won't be puffing away in the back row like a steam train I might try the classes again. The dancers have such beautifully toned tummies it's a real incentive although I am seriously deluded if I think I could ever look like that!!

I'l never look like that either, I've had six children! But I can dream, delusion is a good place to be!

My friend told me there's a beginners Zumba class starting on Tuesday so suggested I go along with hew. She's not overweight, walks everywhere & has been owing to Zumba for months. Should be interesting! Failing that think I'll get out the just dance on the Wii. At east it's in my own living room.

Have stuck to The plan again this week & am hoping for a better loss than my 1st week.......I only lost 1lb & was really disappointed. Still, better off than on! :)

Thanks for all the advice everyone!
I'm actually looking into buying a Wii for the Wii fit! So may give that a go! Wiis have come down in price recently, as the Wii 2 (I think it's going to be called Wii U?) is coming out this year! & I do enjoy playing the Mario and Zelda games, so it'd be a plus :D.

& I'm going doing Mental Health Nursing :)!

Oh & great news! I weighed myself this Morning and I've lost another 5 lbs! I've been going swimming most evenings, which I think is really helping :). It also keeps me busy and stops me from boredom snacking!

I've always found swimming to be excellent exercise. I only have one fully functioning knee, so impact stuff is difficult for me - I've damaged several ligaments, too much running when I was younger :-(
