New member - 116 Pounds to Lose!

    Hello, my name is Alex.

I am a 18 year old male from the UK. Let me introduce myself and my story...

I weigh 306 pounds, which in the UK is pretty massive I was 318 pounds 7 weeks ago, so I have lost 12 pounds on a <1500 calorie per day diet.

I think now now is the right time to lose weight, I have tried before many times. But this time, 7 weeks in, I am not missing any of the bad food I used to eat.

I hope I can find some support and advice on here, and try and lose 116 pounds by June 2014.

Thank you! I am very happy so far, and I am generally delighted knowing that I can live comfortably with 1500 calories a day. I am starting a good exercise regime this week, hopefully I can lose 2-4 pounds by Xmas day.

Hello and thanks for you kind words. I have tried many book diets before and they never worked for me. The diet I have been on is just something that I sort of created for myself.

    - My main aim is to stay under 1500 calories a day, which is a comfortable amount for me.
    - I eat plenty of chicken. I am sure most of you all know how amazing chicken is calorie and protein wise!
    - I drink a LOT of water!
    - I generally try and avoid processed foods at all costs, so I avoid a lot of the salty stuff.
    - The only carb intake I get is brown bread which I will eat a few times in a week.

I generally keep a simple plan really. I tried complicated diets in the past and they did not work for me. Mine is just stay under 1500 calories, keep low carb, low salt, low sugar and fat. It has worked so far and I am starting an exercise regime for it today

Another part of my diet is that each Sunday I will treat myself to something. Whether it be a pizza or a burger etc. This generally keeps me from craving any bad stuff for the rest of the week. On these Sundays I will never go over 2,000 calories though.

I also see your work you are doing great!

Hello Liz thanks for your words. Great to hear you joined too. Calorie counting is essentially what I am doing too, and it has worked so far with zero exercise. Good luck with your goal, you will probably lose a fair bit if you are calorie counting!

Thank you! Heh I know what to avoid but I should still be eating more healthy stuff. My diet at the moment is healthy but it could be a lot better in terms of nutrition.

I have not tried any pills yet. I tried Alli once upon a time but I did not use it long enough to get a good grasp on whether it made difference.

Is Xenical working for you? It must be, 12 lbs in one month is fantastic! You are already 20% to your goal, brilliant just brilliant. I will check out some Xenical now.

You're welcome. Making small changes will help and then you can increase those changes like for example, at 1st I use to have a small portion of veg on the side of my lunch or dinner, and then I changed it to bigger portions and eventually I just had it for lunch and dinner everyday Also if you need to snack, snack on fruit I also eat a lot of Chicken Breast Fillet, pretty much everyday for dinner

I haven't heard of Alli sorry, but there is a whole forum about Xenical and lots of support there too. So far it is working really well with me I don't get the side effects that much anymore (diarrhea!) because I am following the rules and being good lol. It might be something worth talking to your Doctor about and if he/she thinks it would be suitable for you, then great! You can get it prescribed if your BMI is over 30.

And thank you I'm really proud of my loss so far. I haven't gained anything so far too!

I would recommend Xenical It's the kick start I needed!

Well let me share my old diet with you! My diet was pretty much carb only. For around 3 months this year I was living off pizza, doritos, pepsi, beer, carbs, carbs and more carbs. I don't think I touched a veg for like 8 months. My diet was as bad as it can get. I think I put on like 30 pounds from June until October. Just insane...

So fitting in any veg right now is a step forward for me. I often eat mushrooms, and onions. I want to start eating more lettuce which I think I will do come January. Veggies or not, my diet is 20x more healthy then it was 2 months ago before I started.

All I can say is, chicken is the best. You can make so many meals out of it, it has nothing bad in it, it is perfect. I have also been eating steak too and I think it has helped me a lot. Plus it tastes great.

I want to see how well I do this week with all the exercise. If I lose under 2 pounds I may begin investigating pills. But until then I am happy with how things are going without pills/supplements!

I love chicken! I'll never get bored of it. It tastes soooo good!

And that's good Xenical was the start I needed, I wouldn't be able to lose any weight without it.
