Hey buddy, I am sort of similar to you. I have always been big, as a young kid I was "chubby" but I still kept very fit.

At 14 the weight just started to higher and higher. I was 16 stone at 15. And I was only 5'4'' at the time so I pretty big. This meant I had to stop playing team sports that I loved because I was too unfit. So I have not exercised since.

I was 18 stone by 16, now I am 18 and 22 stone. So I am also a young guy who is trying to sort his weight out.

You need to make sure you are mentally fit before you begin. You gotta be dedicated and prepared that this will take 1-2 years of hardwork to beat.

Spend some time watching weight loss successes on here & YouTube, it really motivated me. There is plenty of content on here to read and soak in. Educate yourself about food, calories, exercise and your body.

I wish I had done this properly years ago. I don't want to look back at myself in 3 years time at 27 stone and say to myself "I wish I had tried to lose weight before".

Living with obesity is much harder than beating it!

Good luck man, if you want to discuss anything in particular just let me know.

    Thanks for clicking here,
My name is George, I'm 20 years old, and my current weight is 24.4.0 Stone.
I have been a member here before, back in 2011 for a short time.
    My story:
I've always been bigger than most people. It started when I was about 2. As I grew bigger and taller and turned into a crazy teenager I sort of leveled out at about 16 stone at 14 years old. My weight continued to get out of control, and I left school early. My family and I move away, and I made lots of new friends, at which time I dropped down from about 18 stone back to about 16.
I started drinking a lot, and gained weight again, and then fell out with my friends and become somewhat of a loner for a while. Then I met a girl, fell in love, and she moved in with me. I again started to loose weight. Then depression hit me out of the blue and I gained weight again. We broke up. I guess thats when things started to change from gaining a few stone and loosing a few stone to gaining weight and just not loosing it. I attended a family event to celebrate my great Nana's 90th Birthday, when the photos got back to me, it was a big eye opener. I was 18 years old, and 25 stone. At this point I was back in college and I knew that I needed to change my ways. I walked two miles everynight for about 5 months and managed to loose 4 stone. I felt great. I felt so great that I decided to treat myself by buying things out of the catalogue. I bought things I knew that I never could afford, but I felt great so I didn't care. Then as the debt mounted, I was getting letters saying people would come to my house and get the money back that way. I fell back into a depression, and this time I knew it was my own fault which made me feel even worse. Then, I gained weight again. That brings us upto this April. I had no choice but to leave college and find a job. Thankfully the college agreed that I could continue working from home, which I did, and finished. I did find a job, and I was promoted twice in three months. I was now leading a team of internet sales people, I was earning a fantastic wage, and I paid back over £1000 of my debt without going to court or without a single doorstep visit. I was so happy that I had finally found something stable to focus on. I was also working from 8am to 8pm everyday from Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday so I didn't have much time to snack or comfort eat. Then, randomly in the middle of the week the owner of the company walked in, which was strange because the company was quite large and he'd usually let us know when he was coming. He asked to speak to the heads and members of each sales team on a group basis and one by one the group and their team leaders came out looking worried and some were even crying. It was our turn, and suprise suprise, we were being made redundant. Anyways I guess you can see a pattern. Everytime something bad happens I gain weight. I have now climbed back up to 24 stone but I've had a lot of time and online therapy to deal with my issues and I'm now ready to once and for always change my ways and shift the weight and thats why I'm here.
    Thanks for reading,
    Regards,
    George.
It's a big step to take , but make it count. You can do it. 2 years and you'll be there. It's a blip in a lifetime. Good luck xx

Random question but I've not seen an answer anywhere. What is a "stone" in this forum? I've seen several people talking about 19 stone, or 24 stone and losing a stone by such and such date... What's it mean?

Is that the stereotype? Lol. I've never eaten grits, nor do I say y'all. I think you're confusing me with southern USA people.
Either way, uk people Are definitely ok.
